Day 1 - Tokyo
Welcome to Japan. After clearing customs, we’ll arrange your shared shuttle transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or explore at your own pace. In the afternoon, we’ll share the practical details for the start of your tour.
Day 2 - Tokyo
This morning we’ll set off on a comprehensive guided tour of Tokyo lasting around seven hours – a city where bold modernity sits alongside tranquil corners. We’ll pause at Zojoji Temple for a superb view of Tokyo Tower and to see the rows of Jizo statues adorned with knitted hats, bibs and pinwheels. From the bus we’ll watch the famed Shibuya Crossing, then visit Meiji Shrine. Admission to Tokyo Skytree is included up to the Tembo Deck at 350 metres for sweeping city views. We’ll conclude in Asakusa, exploring Nakamise Street, and return to the hotel via Akihabara – the Electric City – and Ginza. At 6:30 pm we’ll meet in the hotel lobby and take the subway (tickets included) to Shinjuku for a stroll before dinner at a local restaurant (included), then ride the subway back with our guide. Note: The order of visits may vary depending on Skytree timings. In case of bad weather or exceptional circumstances, access to Skytree may be limited – an alternative iconic viewpoint will be offered.
Day 3 - Tokyo - Kyoto
We’ll take the bullet train to Kyoto early this morning – just over two hours to cover nearly 500 kilometres. The day is devoted to this former imperial capital, spared from wartime bombing and renowned for its preserved artistic heritage – and where the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997. We’ll visit Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Imperial Palace and Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion, set within exquisite gardens. Afterwards we’ll wander through Gion, Kyoto’s traditional quarter known for geisha culture. You’ll then have free time.
Day 4 - Kyoto - Nara - Osaka
We’ll depart for Nara, Japan’s ancient capital, to visit the magnificent Todaiji Temple and its Great Buddha, then stroll through the park where friendly deer mingle with visitors. We continue to Osaka for a panoramic look at lively Dotonbori. You’ll have free time for lunch, after which we’ll admire Osaka Castle – one of the country’s emblematic monuments – before continuing to the Umeda neighbourhood, home to the Umeda Sky Building.
Day 5 - Osaka - Himeji - Korakuen Garden - Okayama
We’ll travel to Himeji, with admission included to its immense castle complex showcasing the architecture of Japanese castles. After lunch at a local restaurant (included), we’ll continue to Okayama to visit Korakuen, one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens, with lakes, waterfalls and traditional teahouses. Crossing the pedestrian bridge over the river, you can visit Okayama Castle – a sixteenth‑century Japanese fortification rebuilt in 1966 after wartime bombing – though entry to the interior is not included. You’ll then have free time to explore the city, an active provincial capital with just over 700,000 inhabitants. Note: On some dates we may stay in Fukuyama or Kurashiki, and the Kurashiki visit may take place this afternoon.
Day 6 - Okayama - Kurashiki - Itsukushima - Hiroshima
We’ll head first to Kurashiki to enjoy its beautifully preserved historic centre – you’ll have time for a leisurely stroll through its atmospheric streets. We then continue to Hiroshima, a city indelibly marked by the 1945 atomic bombing. We’ll walk through the Peace Memorial Park and past the Atomic Bomb Dome, and visit the Peace Memorial Museum (admission included). Seeking a calmer mood afterwards, we’ll take the ferry to the island often described as the place where men and gods coexist. We’ll stroll to the iconic Great Torii of Itsukushima rising from the sea. You’ll have free time to visit Itsukushima Shrine, explore the island and have lunch. We then return to our hotel in Hiroshima. Dinner is included. Note: The order of visits in Hiroshima may vary without affecting the content.
Day 7 - Hiroshima - Tokyo
After breakfast we’ll transfer you to the station for the bullet train back to Tokyo – around four hours to cover roughly 800 kilometres – arriving at about 2:00 pm. Our journey concludes here, leaving you with wonderful memories. Please check your flight time in case you need an additional night. While the departure transfer to the airport is not included, our guide will advise on the best public transport options for your onward travel.
