Day 1 - Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais Full-Day Tour from Lisbon
Your tour begins with a pick-up at Marques de Pombal Square in Lisbon at 8:30 am. Please aim to arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes early. We then travel to the Palace of Pena, a striking fairytale castle perched atop one of the highest peaks in the Sintra hills.
After exploring the palace, you will have free time to wander the streets of Sintra, a UNESCO-listed cultural site that has long inspired poets and captivated royalty. Take the opportunity to browse local handicraft shops and enjoy traditional sweets such as queijadas and travesseiros in one of the town’s tearooms. Next, we head to Colares, a region known for its quality table wines, before continuing to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe.
Along the way, we pass Guincho beach and Hell’s Mouth, admiring dramatic sea views until we reach the charming coastal town of Cascais for a brief visit. We return to Lisbon via the Estoril Coast, enjoying panoramic views of the casino and its gardens. Overnight accommodation is arranged in the Lisbon area on a selected board basis.
Day 2 - Óbidos, Alcobaça, Nazaré, Batalha & Fátima Full-Day Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, we leave Lisbon and head north to Óbidos, a charming town enclosed by medieval walls. Here, we admire the traditional whitewashed houses with wrought iron balconies, explore local handicrafts and see the renowned Pousada do Castelo.
Next, we travel to Alcobaça to visit its UNESCO-listed monastery, notable as Portugal’s first and longest Gothic church, which houses the tombs of King Pedro and Inês de Castro. Lunch is served in Nazaré, a vibrant fishing village known for its colourful character. Afterwards, we visit Sítio, offering stunning views over the beach and ocean.
In the afternoon, we explore Batalha Monastery, another UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its Gothic architecture and exquisite stained-glass windows. We then arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, a major Christian pilgrimage site, where we visit the Basilica—home to the tombs of the visionaries Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta—and the Chapel of Apparitions at the shrine’s heart. If possible, we attend mass here. We return to Lisbon through a fertile agricultural region for an overnight stay at the hotel on the selected board basis.
Day 3 - Évora Day Trip from Lisbon & Departure
We leave the hotel and travel to Évora, a town rich in culture, history and tradition. Crossing the Tagus River, we pass through a scenic landscape of olive groves, cork oak forests and vineyards before arriving at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the local market, we experience the variety of regional produce that shapes one of Portugal’s most renowned cuisines. Throughout the day, we delve into the area’s history, arts and crafts, and enjoy a wine tasting to complete the visit.
