Day 1 - Arrival in Madrid

Upon arrival in Madrid, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or explore Madrid at your own pace.

Please Note: This is a bi-lingual, large group coach tour, where a majority of travellers are Spanish, so English will be the second language. For groups of 12 or more the tour is escorted by a bilingual (Spanish & English speaking) tour leader/escort. They will provide explanations about the itinerary, coordinate accommodation services, and ensure the smooth running of the tour, making your trip an enjoyable experience. When the group size is less than 12, this service may be provided by the driver. There will be experienced bi-lingual local guides for included city sightseeing. This tour also combines different programmes, meaning some travellers may join and leave the tour part way through, and your tour escort may also change.

Day 2 - Madrid City Tour

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we embark on a captivating panoramic tour of Madrid, delving into the city's rich history and vibrant character. Our journey begins with a glimpse into Madrid’s medieval origins, including the Arab fortress and the atmospheric Barrio de la Morería, renowned for its ancient buildings and charming traditional taverns.

Later, we continue our travels, crossing the Portuguese border and winding our way through picturesque landscapes until we arrive in Porto, a city brimming with character and charm.

Day 5 - Free time in Coimbra & Fatima Exploration

Porto - Coimbra - Fatima. After breakfast, we set off for Coimbra, a city brimming with history as the home of one of Europe’s oldest universities and the birthplace of Fado music. Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore at your own pace—whether you choose to wander through the university's ancient halls, admire the charming streets, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this vibrant city.

Our journey continues to Fátima, one of the most significant centres of Christian faith in the world. Here, we visit the awe-inspiring Basilica and the Cova da Iria, the sacred site where the Virgin Mary appeared. At the heart of the sanctuary, we find the Chapel of the Apparitions, home to the tombs of the three shepherd children Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta.

In the evening, you have the opportunity to attend the moving candle procession, a deeply spiritual experience that fills the air with reverence.

Day 6 - Batalha, Nazare, Alcobaca & Lisbon

Lisbon - Merida (Spain) - Cordoba. Today, we depart for Mérida, the capital of Extremadura, a city steeped in history and renowned for its rich Roman heritage. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, Mérida boasts an impressive collection of well-preserved Roman ruins, including the magnificent theatre, the grand amphitheater, and the iconic Roman bridge. Our destination is Granada, a city renowned for its incredible and awe-inspiring monumental heritage, once the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms until 1492.

Upon arrival, we visit the world-famous Alhambra complex, a magnificent palace and fortress that has captured the imagination of countless travellers throughout history.
