Begin in Stockholm and end there on a 15 day journey through Scandinavia and the Baltics – a mix of characterful cities, sea views and two overnight ferries. You’ll explore Stockholm’s old town, sail past the Aland archipelago, and visit Turku, Naantali and Helsinki – with time on the fortress islands of Suomenlinna. Cross to Tallinn to wander its medieval lanes, then continue via Sigulda and Turaida to Riga. Expect to see Rundale Palace, the Hill of Crosses, Trakai and Vilnius, then head into Poland for Warsaw’s Old Town, Malbork Castle and Gdansk’s moving museums – before cruising back to Sweden.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Stockholm
Welcome to Stockholm. We transfer you to the hotel and you have free time. In the afternoon we share practical information – either directly or via the noticeboard at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm
We set out on a panoramic tour of Sweden’s capital, spread across 14 interlinked islands. We explore Gamla Stan – the city between bridges – taking in lively Stortorget beside the Nobel Prize Museum, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. When conditions allow, we pause at Fjällgatan for sweeping views. Afterwards you have time at leisure – you can visit museums and parks, or opt to see City Hall and the Vasa Museum.
Day 3 - Stockholm - Stockholm - Turku Ferry
You have a free day to enjoy Stockholm at your own pace. In the evening we board a modern ferry for an overnight crossing to Finland, with accommodation in double en suite cabins.
Day 4 - Stockholm - Turku Ferry - Naantali - Helsinki
As we reach Finland, you may wish to head to the deck at sunrise – the sail past the forested Åland Islands is mesmerising. After disembarkation you have time to discover Turku, a city with a strong Swedish influence. We continue to nearby Naantali, a picturesque seaside town of wooden houses, then travel on to Helsinki. After lunch we take a public ferry to the Suomenlinna Islands – an impressive sea fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site. You have time to wander the islands linked by small pedestrian bridges and enjoy the atmosphere, ramparts and Baltic views before we return to Helsinki by boat and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5 - Helsinki - Helsinki - Tallinn Ferry - Tallinn
You have a free morning in Finland’s capital to uncover its most charming corners. In the afternoon we board the ferry to Estonia – a journey of about 2 hours 30 minutes – and you may wish to admire the fine views of Helsinki and its surrounding islands as we depart. Arrival in Tallinn.
Day 6 - Tallinn
We take a panoramic tour of Tallinn, a capital that has preserved its medieval heart remarkably well, with walls, churches, squares and atmospheric streets. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 7 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
We travel through forests and plains to Pärnu, a popular seaside resort, then continue into Latvia. We include lunch before visiting medieval Turaida Castle – admission included – set within a large park with sculptures. Next, you can stroll in Sigulda, a small and charming town amid beautiful landscapes. We continue towards Riga with a stop at the Salaspils Memorial, located on the site of a former concentration camp from the Nazi period and, since 1967, one of Europe’s largest monumental complexes. We arrive in Riga in the evening.
Day 8 - Riga
We enjoy a panoramic tour of Riga, the most populous city in the Baltic states, where traces of the Soviet period are still visible. Renowned for its cultural life, medieval historic centre and Art Nouveau architecture, the city is yours to explore at leisure in the afternoon.
Day 9 - Riga - Rundale - Vilnius
We depart early for Lithuania, visiting Baroque Rundale Palace, designed by the architect of St Petersburg’s Hermitage. We cross into Lithuania to see the moving Hill of Crosses, with thousands of crosses of all sizes, and we include lunch en route. Afterwards we visit Trakai, a beautiful island castle set in a lake near Vilnius, where we finish the day. Note: Depending on daylight, the visit to Trakai may take place on Wednesday after exploring the city.
Day 10 - Vilnius
We begin with a panoramic tour of Vilnius, a city built on seven hills and often compared to Rome. We discover its Baroque churches, historic walls, grand castle, lively central shopping streets and around 1,200 medieval houses. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 11 - Vilnius - Grutas Park - Augustów - Warsaw
We continue into Poland, first stopping at Grutas Park – Stalin’s World – where 86 statues from the Soviet era are displayed. We pause for lunch in the lakeside town of Augustów, then travel on to central Poland, arriving in Warsaw by the end of the day.
Day 12 - Warsaw
We start with a panoramic tour of Warsaw with a local guide. Home to nearly two million people, Poland’s political and economic hub blends striking modern architecture with meticulously restored historic buildings. We stroll through the charming Old Town with the Royal Palace and cobbled streets – rebuilt after wartime destruction and now a World Heritage Site – visit the Palace of Culture, reflect on the history of what was once Europe’s largest Jewish ghetto, and wander through Lazienki Park with the Chopin Monument. You have free time in the afternoon to visit museums such as the National Museum and the Warsaw Rising Museum, or to enjoy the lively city centre.
Day 13 - Warsaw - Olsztyn - Elblag Canal - Malbork - Gdansk
After breakfast we head for northern Poland. Our first stop is Olsztynek to visit the open air Museum of Folk Architecture – admission included – where wooden houses, old mills and a traditional church evoke another era. We continue to the Elbląg Canal to visit a museum at the site where boats are hauled over land on rails to overcome elevation changes. Next we travel to Malbork to visit its imposing castle – admission included, green route – one of Europe’s largest medieval fortresses, built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We arrive in Gdańsk in the evening – the historic centre is stunning and lively, and you may enjoy an evening stroll.
Day 14 - Gdansk - Sopot - Ferry Sopot Karlskrona
After breakfast we visit the European Solidarity Centre, a striking contemporary building commemorating the history of the Solidarity movement – highlights include the monument to the fallen workers. We then include admission to the Museum of the Second World War, opened in 2017, a powerful reminder of the 3 to 6 million people who died in Poland during that conflict. After time to explore the historic centre, we head to Sopot, a charming Baltic resort with a long sandy beach and one of Europe’s longest wooden piers offering superb sea views. In the evening we board a modern cruise style ferry for Sweden – scheduled departure is at 19:30 – with overnight cabin accommodation and breakfast included.
Day 15 - Ferry Sopot Karlskrona - Vastervik - Stockholm
After a pleasant crossing, our ferry arrives in Karlskrona in southern Sweden around 06:30 in the morning. We continue to Stockholm with a stop in Västervik, a charming seaside town with a picturesque historic centre. We reach Stockholm in the afternoon – you have time at leisure and you may enjoy a stroll through the historic centre with its museums and parks. Our journey ends here, leaving you with lasting memories – please check your flight time in case you need an additional night.
