Day 1 - London
Welcome to the start of your exciting journey in London! Upon arrival, we will arrange your transfer to the hotel, allowing you time to settle in and enjoy some leisure time at your own pace. Later, you can find important information about the commencement of your adventure on the boards located at the hotel reception. This marks the beginning of an experience filled with unforgettable moments and discoveries. Enjoy your first day in this iconic city! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - London
In the morning, we set off on a guided city tour of London, exploring iconic landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and the City, along with the River Thames. As the afternoon unfolds, you're free to explore at your leisure, though we offer an optional excursion to the picturesque Thames Valley. This includes a visit to Windsor, home to the splendid Windsor Castle. In the evening, we'll gather at Piccadilly, setting the stage for a leisurely stroll through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho, areas renowned for their lively ambiance, theatre scene, and diverse entertainment options. On occasions, this evening activity may be rescheduled for the day of your arrival in London. Following our evening tour, we'll return to the hotel by bus.
Day 3 - London
Enjoy a day at your leisure in London, where you're free to explore the captivating blend of history and modernity that defines this vibrant city. Wander through its iconic streets and immerse yourself in its rich cultural tapestry. Whether you choose to visit world-renowned museums, take a stroll through its lush parks, or shop in the bustling markets, there's something for everyone to discover. Take this opportunity to explore at your own pace and create lasting memories of your time in this remarkable city.
Day 4 - London - Calais - Amiens - Paris
We'll set off from London on our journey to the continent, travelling by ferry across to France. Our first stop will be Calais for a brief technical halt. Then, we're off to Amiens, where you can appreciate its renowned Gothic cathedral. You’ll have time to meander through the lively narrow streets, explore the unique floating gardens, or visit the former residence of Jules Verne. We'll wrap up the day's travels by heading to Paris, reaching the city by the end of the day.
Day 5 - Paris
Today, we delve into the historical splendour of France with a visit to the renowned Palace of Versailles. While admission is not covered, you can marvel at the exquisite gardens that surround this iconic landmark. Upon our return to Paris, we’ll explore Montmartre, a delightful bohemian district celebrated for its artists, painters, and lively cabarets. Our day continues with a panoramic guided tour of Paris, where we’ll soak in the city's magnificent boulevards and its famous architectural gems. We will then head back to the hotel to relax. Should you wish to continue your evening's adventures, there is an optional variety show you might consider attending.
Day 6 - Paris
Today, we'll embark on an exciting exploration of central Paris. Our morning begins with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where you'll have the opportunity to ascend to the second floor of this impressive iron structure—tickets are included. Following this, we will unwind on a serene boat cruise along the Seine, which lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure, allowing you to dive into the local culture and sights at your own pace. Please note, transport back to the hotel is not included. If the wait times at the Eiffel Tower are lengthy, we may adjust our schedule for your convenience, rescheduling the visit to another time or day, such as Sunday.
Day 7 - Paris - Burgundy - Beaune - Lyon
Today, we travel deep into the heart of France, venturing through the enchanting Burgundy region, famed for its scenic vineyards and exceptional wines. Our first stop is Beaune, a delightful town in the centre of Burgundy, renowned for its flower-adorned streets, the historic hospice, and a fascinating wine museum. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely stroll and lunch at your own pace. Our journey continues to Lyon, historically significant as the capital of Roman Gaul, nestled along the Rhône River. The city's vibrant historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We'll ascend by cable car to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, where a breathtaking panorama of Lyon awaits. Afterwards, you'll have free time to discover the city further. Please note, in certain cases, some of our group might stay in Chambéry, a charming town located nearby. If so, we'll travel to Chambéry for an overnight stay, allowing time in the morning to explore its medieval ambience, beautiful historic centre, and its impressive castle.
Day 8 - Lyon - Geneva - Zurich
Today, we set off for Switzerland. Our first stop is Geneva, where we'll take in the sights of the Palace of Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. We'll also enjoy a stroll through the charming English Garden, famous for its flower clock, and gaze up at the Jet d?Eau, Europe's tallest fountain.After lunch, we journey through Switzerland's breathtaking landscapes, following scenic routes by Lake Geneva and Lake Neuch?tel. As we drive through the Three Lakes region, you'll be treated to sweeping views of vineyards framed by majestic mountains. In Neuch?tel, you'll have the opportunity to wander along the lakeside, explore the historic town centre, or visit the picturesque 10th-century castle.Our day concludes in Zurich, where we'll arrive by late afternoon. Please note, if there are fewer travellers from Geneva to Zurich, we may travel by train instead, which will result in the omission of the stop in Neuch?tel.
Day 9 - Zurich
Today, we'll discover Zurich, Switzerland’s bustling metropolis known both as a major financial hub and a cultural centre. Twice named the city with the best quality of life globally, Zurich offers a wealth of experiences. Our adventure begins with a guided exploration of the city, revealing its vibrant urban charm. Following our city tour, we'll embark on a nearly two-hour picturesque cruise on Lake Zurich. This tranquil journey will include stops at quaint villages along the way, offering delightful glimpses into local life. We will disembark at Rapperswil, a stunning medieval village renowned for its historic castle and captivating scenery. From here, we'll take the train back to Zurich, affording us the opportunity to experience the renowned efficiency and punctuality of Swiss rail travel. Note that depending on our group size, transfers to and from the city centre may use public transport.
Day 10 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today promises a day of breathtaking landscapes featuring towering mountains and pristine lakes. We will explore the gorgeous Interlaken region, beginning with a stop in Grindelwald. Here, you can enjoy a coffee and soak in the surroundings before we take a cable car up the mountain for a short hike along a picturesque path leading to a suspended bridge. Crossing the bridge is a thrill for the adventurous, offering extraordinary views of the nearby glaciers. We'll have lunch on the mountain, which is included in your tour, before we descend.Our next destination is the delightful city of Lucerne, celebrated as one of Switzerland's most beautiful locales. You will have ample time to wander and appreciate its charming cityscape. Our day concludes as we return to Zurich. For those interested, an optional full-day excursion led by our guide will be available. After leisure time in Lucerne, you can take a rotating cable car up to the top of Mount Titlis. At over 3,000 metres above sea level, the summit presents spectacular views of the glacier and the Alps, making it a truly memorable experience.
Day 11 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
Departing from Zurich early in the morning, we'll cross the breathtaking Alps to reach the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first stop is the picturesque city of Bellinzona, where you'll find three medieval castles that stand as a testament to the city's historical importance as a strategic alpine fortress. These impressive castles are recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You'll have some free time to explore the quaint streets of the city centre at your own pace.Continuing our journey, we will then cross the border into Italy, heading towards the enchanting town of Como. Here, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch amidst stunning surroundings. Como, often referred to as the jewel of Lombardy, is celebrated for its splendid lakeside gardens and its impressive cathedral.Later, we will proceed to the vibrant city of Milan, where our guide will introduce us to the grandeur of the Piazza del Duomo. You'll have time to wander around this iconic area and soak up its atmosphere before we transfer you to your hotel for the evening.
Day 12 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Continuing our adventure, we'll leave Milan and make our way to Pisa. Our visit here includes a journey on a quaint tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, home to one of Italy's most stunning architectural ensembles. You'll have the opportunity to marvel at the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, alongside other remarkable structures within the square. After soaking in the beauty of this historic site, we'll proceed to Rome, where we'll arrive later in the day.
Day 13 - Rome
In the morning, we will embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, delving into the rich tapestry of this ancient city, which stands as one of the cradles of Western civilisation. Our journey will encompass both a walking tour and a scenic bus ride, allowing us to uncover the marvels of Imperial Rome. Along the way, we will encounter renowned landmarks including the Arch of Constantine, catch an exterior glimpse of the majestic Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, and visit the historic Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the imposing Castel Sant'Angelo. Concluding our tour at around 11 a.m., we will arrive at Vatican City. Here, our guide will propose an optional visit for those keen to explore the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. As the day draws to a close, we will offer a transfer to the charming Trastevere neighbourhood, celebrated for its inviting restaurants and vibrant ambiance. We will return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 14 - Rome
As the sun rises on your final day in Rome, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and take a moment to reflect on the remarkable journey you have experienced. This is the end of our tour, and we hope you depart with cherished memories of the many places you've visited and the vibrant cultures you've encountered.
