Taita Hills Safari Experience

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Mombasa, meet your driver-guide in the lobby for departure. Pick-up times are 05:05 am for South Coast hotels and 06:00 am for North Coast hotels. We travel north along the main highway towards Nairobi, following the historic railway line constructed by the British in the late nineteenth century. As we leave the outskirts of Mombasa, the road climbs steadily, revealing the vast plains of Tsavo and the distant rolling Taita Hills. We enter Ngutuni Sanctuary, adjacent to Tsavo East National Park, for a game drive. Lunch is served at Ngutuni Lodge, overlooking a waterhole where wildlife often gathers. In the afternoon, we continue to Taita Hills Sanctuary, arriving at Salt Lick Lodge, built on stilts with views over a waterhole frequented by animals. Around 4:00 pm, we embark on a game drive offering stunning views of the Taita Hills and opportunities to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and a variety of bird species. After returning to the lodge, enjoy dinner. You may also choose to join an optional night game drive (not included) to spot nocturnal wildlife and experience the sounds of the African bush after dark. Overnight is at Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.

We begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Sanctuary at around 6:30 am. On clear mornings, you may catch a stunning view of the snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro as we return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, at approximately 9:30 am, we take a short game drive within the Sanctuary before arriving at Taita Hills Lodge for lunch, which is included. In the afternoon, we depart for Mombasa, returning to your hotel by early evening – around 6:00 pm for South Coast hotels and 5:00 pm for North Coast hotels.
