Arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali’s capital, known as the Island of a Thousand Temples. You will be greeted in the arrival hall by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel in Ubud. The rest of the day is yours to relax and explore at leisure. Ubud, situated in the island’s centre, is renowned as Bali’s artistic heart, home to many celebrated local and international artists. Its charm extends beyond art, with a tranquil atmosphere that invites you to unwind and soak in the village’s unique character. Overnight in Ubud.
Day 2 - Ubud - Kintamani - Tegalalang - Ubud
After breakfast, we will collect you from the hotel at 9:00 am and begin the day in Batu Bulan, a village renowned for its stone carvers. Here, you will watch the vibrant Barong and Kris Dance, which depicts the timeless battle between good and evil, drawn from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. Following the performance, we travel northeast across Bali, passing from the palm-lined lowlands to the island’s mountainous interior. We visit the famous woodcarving village to observe artisans crafting intricate designs from various types of wood, then continue to a village known for its skilled silver and goldsmiths. Next, we explore Goa Gajah, or the Elephant Cave, an 11th-century archaeological site with historical significance. Our journey continues to Kintamani, where you can enjoy spectacular views of Mount Batur, an active volcano with black lava flows descending into the valley below. The crater is considered sacred, housing a sanctuary dedicated to the fertility goddess. Nearby, Lake Batur lies calm against the mountainous backdrop. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant here. On the return trip, we stop at Tegallalang to admire the iconic rice terraces before arriving back in Ubud by approximately 5:00 pm. Built in 1634, this temple is one of Bali’s most sacred sites, set within a wide moat that gives the impression of standing on an island. From there, we continue to Bedugul, a cool mountain village on the shores of Lake Bratan. Here, we explore the Botanical Gardens and visit the local fresh market. Bedugul’s higher altitude makes it an important agricultural centre for vegetables. Lunch will be served at a private lakeside retreat, now open to the public. In the afternoon, we head to Tanah Lot Temple, Bali’s most photographed temple, perched on a rocky islet accessible only at low tide. After the visit, we return to your accommodation in Ubud for the evening.
