Turkey Travel Advice for Travellers from South Africa
The safety of our travellers is vital and we closely monitor the latest travel advice to Turkey. We recommend that you check the latest travel updates from the consular department in South Africa.
Due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East region, travel advice to Turkey does change from time to time. The FCO has recently placed travel restrictions to Eastern Turkey, specifically the region bordering Syria, and due to this travel advice we are no longer offering touring arrangements to this area of Turkey. Our standard tours to Turkey remain unaffected and the main tourist sites of Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and the Aegean coastline are considered safe to visit.
Flying to Turkey from South Africa:
Turkey is roughly a 10 hour direct flight from South Africa. Our group tours start in Istanbul, the international travel hub of Turkey, and Turkish Airlines fly direct from Johannesburg and Cape Town with an indirect option from Durban via Johannesburg. A number of airlines fly this route indirect with reasonable stopover times including Emirates via Dubai, KLM via Amsterdam and Etihad via Abu Dhabi.
