Victoria Falls - Kasane (Botswana). After a free morning in Victoria Falls we cross into Botswana and travel onto our beautiful lodge on the banks of Chobe River, which will be our home for the next two nights.
Chobe is famous for its picturesque scenery, wonderful sunsets and abundance of wildlife and on day 3 we enjoy an early morning game drive in Chobe National Park and a sunset game viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River, spotting animals on the banks of the river.
Chobe - Hwange (Zimbabwe). Departing Chobe after breakfast we cross back into Zimbabwe arriving late afternoon in Hwange National Park, the country's largest nature reserve. Hwange is home to large elephant herds, lions and African wild dogs. This evening we go in search of wildlife on a sunset open 4x4 vehicle game drive in the private concession bordering Hwange National Park.
The following day enjoy morning and afternoon 4x4 game drives in the private concession.
Hwange National Park - Matobo National Park. This morning we travel through Zimbabwe to our next lodge located on the edge of the World Heritage site - Matobo National Park. In the afternoon we have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with one of Africa’s most iconic and endangered species, the rhino. Home to a population of both black and white rhino, Zimbabwe remains a stronghold for these peaceful and ancient animals. Brace yourself for the encounter of a lifetime when you find yourself face to face with this illusive species by vehicle and on foot.
Matobo National Park - Mapesu Private Game Reserve (South Africa). Continuing our journey we cross into South Africa at Beit Bridge. We spend the next two nights at a lodge in Mapesu Private Game Reserve on the border of Mapungubwe National Park. Mapungubwe National Park and Mapungubwe Hill is at the centre of the World Heritage Landscape where the first southern African kingdom was established in the 13th Century, it's also famous for its San rock art sites.
On day 8 we take a scenic morning walk to view the remarkably well-preserved Kaoxa Bushman paintings today and in the afternoon enjoy a sunset drive, taking in spectacular views over the Baobab laden landscape. Carbon dating indicates that these enormous trees can live to be 3,000 years old and they can be found throughout the drier regions of Africa.
Mapesu Private Game Reserve - Hazyview. On day 9 we travel south to Kruger National Park, via the spectacular Panorama Route of Blyde River Canyon. This incredible canyon is 26km long, averages 800m deep and forms the northern edge of the Drakensberg Mountain Range. En route we visit the Bourkes Luck Pothole, which is the result of water erosion over a millions of years ago, and take in the breath-taking views across the canyon and surrounding area from Gods Window. We arrive at our lodge in Hazyview late afternoon.
The next day we explore the world famous Kruger National Park on an exciting full day game drive inside the park, in open 4x4 vehicles. Kruger is home to Africa's Big Five, as well as numerous other species of fauna and flora.
