You’ll explore the majestic Forbidden City and enjoy a memorable walk along the well-preserved Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, complete with stunning mountain views. Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Beijing
Arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport, where a representative will be waiting to greet you and accompany you on your transfer into the city. Your private transfer will take you directly to your hotel in Beijing.
The rest of the day is free for you to spend at leisure. You may prefer to rest after your flight or head out for a first look at life in China’s vast capital.
Day 2 - Beijing - Forbidden City & Mutianyu Great Wall section
After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up at around 08:00 for today’s sightseeing. Following a 30-minute to 1-hour drive, we visit the Forbidden City, the largest ancient palace complex in the world, the best-preserved imperial palace in China, and one of the country’s most important historic sites. We spend around 1.5 hours exploring its grand halls and gardens.
We then travel north-east for approximately two hours to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. With the Yanshan Mountains as a backdrop, we stop for lunch before setting out to walk along this remarkable stretch of the Wall. We spend around 2.5 hours here, taking in the scenery and exploring one of the best-preserved and most celebrated sections of the Great Wall, known for its impressive views and relatively fewer visitors. Please note that access to the cable car at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is not included.
Afterwards, we return to your hotel in Beijing, arriving at around 19:00. The evening is at leisure, with time for dinner, not included, and to explore the local area.
Day 3 - Exploring Beijing & Optional Tours about Chinese Tea, Tai Chi and Feng Shui
After breakfast, enjoy a full day at leisure in Beijing. You may choose to explore the city independently, visiting sites that interest you, or simply relax at your hotel and make use of its facilities. Alternatively, you can join one of the optional tours.
Optional Tour 1: Visit the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijing’s most sacred imperial sites, where emperors once prayed for peace and good harvests. Continue to a tea house to enjoy a traditional tea ceremony and learn about Chinese tea culture. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore Beijing’s historic hutongs on a rickshaw ride through the old neighborhoods, with a visit to a local family to gain insight into daily life in traditional courtyard homes.
Optional Tour 2: Visit Yonghegong Lamasery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Beijing and a former residence of a Qing dynasty crown prince. Continue to the nearby Confucius Temple and Imperial College, once China’s highest educational institution and a key center of Confucian learning. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, travel to the Summer Palace and explore its magnificent imperial gardens and historic buildings.
Day 4 - Beijing
After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and transfer to the airport for your onward or return flight. Although your time in Beijing comes to an end today, the experiences and memories of this remarkable city will stay with you long after you leave. Breakfast is included.
