You continue to Dyrholaey for sweeping views of the coastline and its natural sea arch, then visit Reynisfjara's black sand and basalt columns as the North Atlantic crashes ashore. The route culminates in Vik i Mýrdal, a small village set between steep cliffs and the ocean, where you can explore before you journey back west.Driving: approx. 350 km (217 miles). Day 3 - The Golden Circle
From Selfoss, you follow the Golden Circle to Thingvellir National Park - a site of major cultural and geological importance at the crest of the Mid‑Atlantic Ridge. Continue to Laugarvatn to take in its serene lake and geothermal activity, then head to the Geysir geothermal area where Strokkur regularly sends water skywards. A short drive brings you to Gullfoss, where the river thunders into a rugged canyon. You then travel to Fluðir, known for its hot springs, before completing the loop back to Selfoss. Driving - approximately 200 km (124 miles). Accommodation - Hveragerði/Selfoss area.
Day 4 - Reykjanes Peninsula

You then follow the rugged coast to Brimketill's lava rock pool and the bubbling mud pools and steaming vents of the Gunnuhver geothermal area. At Reykjanesta, admire sheer sea cliffs crowned by the historic Reykjanesviti lighthouse, before you walk across the Bridge Between Continents - a short span over a fissure marking the boundary between the North American and Eurasian plates. You finish with a scenic drive through sweeping lava fields, arriving back in Reykjavik.
