Upon your arrival at Kochi, you will be greeted by our representative, who will assist you with your transfer to the hotel.
Once you have arrived at the hotel you can take some time to relax or explore this historic coastal gateway. Known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi offers a rich blend of colonial charm, culture, and history, making it an ideal introduction to your journey.
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to the heart of Kochi, a city with a rich history shaped by centuries of maritime trade and colonial rule. You will visit the Dutch Palace, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and noted for its intricate wooden carvings and beautiful murals. Next, you will explore the Jewish Synagogue, one of the oldest in the Commonwealth, celebrated for its stunning interiors and sense of tranquillity. You will then visit St Francis Church, the first European church built in India in 1503.
Following these fascinating landmarks, you will stroll through the historic area of Fort Cochin, a key trading hub during the colonial period. As you explore its cobblestone streets, you will encounter local art galleries, charming cafes, and the famous Chinese fishing nets, a symbol of the city’s maritime legacy.
Kochi - Munnar. Today, you will set off for Munnar, a 4 to 5-hour journey through Kerala’s lush hills and emerald tea plantations. The drive takes you through misty valleys, dense forests, and picturesque spice plantations, offering some of the most scenic views in the region. Upon your arrival in Munnar, you will check into your hotel and have time to unwind and adjust to the refreshing climate.
Munnar is situated at an altitude of 1,600 metres and is well known for its sprawling tea estates and beautiful mountain scenery. You will visit a local tea estate and the Tea Museum, which provides insight into the history and processes behind tea production in the region. The museum features fascinating exhibits and tells the story of how Munnar became the centre of tea cultivation in Kerala.
Munnar - Peryar. You will embark on a 5-hour drive to Periyar, located in the heart of the Western Ghats. This drive is a visual treat, with winding roads that take you through dense forests, tea plantations, and mountain landscapes, offering scenic views all the way. Upon arrival at Periyar, you will check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.
Periyar is renowned for its lush wildlife sanctuary and peaceful surroundings, offering a combination of adventure and relaxation. This evening will allow you time to unwind and prepare for the next day’s exciting wildlife exploration.
After breakfast, you will set out for a morning boat ride across Periyar Lake, an excellent way to observe the diverse wildlife of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. As you glide across the calm waters, you will have the chance to spot elephants, deer, and a variety of bird species that inhabit the area. The tranquil lake and surrounding forest create the perfect environment for wildlife spotting and photography.
Periyar - Alleppey. Today, you will drive to Alleppey (Alappuzha), a destination celebrated for its unique network of backwaters. The drive takes you through narrow canals, rice paddies, and traditional villages, providing an introduction to rural Kerala’s way of life. Upon arrival, you will board a traditional Kettuvallam (houseboat) and set off on a magical cruise through the backwaters.
The houseboat offers a serene journey through the waterways, with views of coconut palms, lush greenery, and traditional village life. These boats are traditional, thatched-roof vessels that are a quintessential feature of life in Kerala. As you glide through this picturesque landscape, you will enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the waterways while fresh, local cuisine is served on board.
Alleppey - Kovalam. After disembarking from the houseboat, you will drive for approximately 5 hours to Kovalam, a charming coastal resort town with golden beaches and a laid-back atmosphere. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and have time to relax.
Kovalam is an idyllic destination with long stretches of sandy beaches, clear waters, and excellent opportunities for relaxation. You can spend your afternoon exploring local shops, sampling fresh seafood, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of this coastal town.
You will have two full days to enjoy at leisure in Kovalam, a perfect spot to unwind on its sandy beaches and take in the peaceful sea breeze. Spend your mornings sunbathing, swimming, or exploring nearby attractions such as Hawah Beach and Kovalam Lighthouse.
If relaxation is what you seek, you can indulge in traditional Ayurvedic spa treatments or join a yoga class to unwind. Alternatively, you can discover the local eateries and artisan shops that contribute to the area’s charm. Kovalam offers a wonderful balance of peace, culture, and recreation.
Kovalam - Trivandrum. After breakfast, you will drive for approximately one hour to Trivandrum International Airport for your onward flight back home.
