Day 1 - Malaga
Arrive at Malaga airport and collect your hire car from the designated meeting point with the rental representative. You may wish to take a leisurely walk around Malaga’s city centre, where you can explore its museums, historic sites and vibrant restaurants. The nearby port area offers a pleasant atmosphere to unwind. Day 2 - Malaga - Granada
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Granada and check in on arrival. You will have the day to explore this historic city and its greatest treasure, the Alhambra palace. Perched atop Sabika Hill for over a thousand years, the Alhambra gained prominence during the Nasrid dynasty, which transformed the original fortress into the magnificent palace complex seen today. We explore the royal grounds and gardens, designed as a serene retreat with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings. Highlights include the Court of the Myrtles, the Hall of the Ambassadors with its elaborate honeycomb plasterwork, and the Court of Lions, famed for its representation of paradise. We also visit the Generalife Palace and its lush gardens, once the summer residence of the Nasrid emirs, where the gentle sound of flowing water adds to the tranquil atmosphere. Later, we cross the verdant ravine of the River Darro to the Albaicín quarter, a historic Moorish neighbourhood known for its narrow cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. Here, you can wander at leisure, discovering viewpoints that offer stunning vistas of the Alhambra set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We stay overnight in Granada.
Day 3 - Granada
After breakfast at the hotel, spend the day exploring Granada’s historic heart at your own pace, capturing its most remarkable sights. We invite you to design your own itinerary through this ancient capital of the last Muslim kingdom in Spain. Granada’s rich Arab heritage is evident throughout the city, most notably in the magnificent Alhambra palace. Wander the winding streets of the Albaicín neighbourhood, a charming area that retains its Moorish character and offers fascinating insights into the city’s past. Finally, visit the Corral del Carbón, the only surviving caravanserai in Spain, to complete your exploration. Overnight in Granada.
Day 4 - Granada - Cordoba
After breakfast, we leave Granada and drive to Córdoba, once the capital of the Moorish caliphate of Al-Andalus at its peak. Here, we explore the remarkable Great Mosque, now a Catholic cathedral, renowned for its forest of marble columns and distinctive two-tiered arches. We admire the intricately decorated mihrab and the side chapels, which blend arabesque and baroque styles. We stroll through the tranquil Patio of the Orange Trees, shaded by around 100 trees, and appreciate the detailed arabesque designs on the exterior doorways. The tour continues with a visit to the former Jewish Quarter, where we see the 14th-century synagogue. We spend the night in Córdoba.
Day 5 - Cordoba
After breakfast, spend the day exploring Cordoba at your own pace with your camera ready to capture its remarkable heritage. Visit the archaeological site of Madinat al-Zahra, a vast 10th-century palace-city commissioned by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III as the royal residence and seat of government. Wander through its impressive ruins, taking in the layout of streets and structures that reveal the city’s former grandeur. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely stroll through Cordoba’s historic streets or prepare for your journey the following day. Overnight in Cordoba.
Day 6 - Cordoba - Seville
After checking in at the hotel, begin your day with a morning walk to explore Seville’s highlights. Visit the Royal Alcazar palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 10th century when it served as a Moorish caliph’s residence. Over time, it has been expanded to include stunning halls, pavilions, patios and gardens showcasing Moorish, Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Take time to admire the intricate arabesque carvings, ornate tilework and fine tapestries, and explore the Hall of Ambassadors and the Patio of Dolls. Next, visit Seville Cathedral, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its Giralda belfry—the city’s iconic symbol. Originally a 12th-century mosque, it is now the third-largest church in the world, housing 80 chapels and over 700 works of religious art, including an impressive gilded altarpiece that took 80 years to complete. Stroll through the peaceful Patio of the Orange Trees before heading to Santa Cruz, Seville’s most charming old quarter. This former Jewish neighbourhood is a maze of whitewashed lanes, alleys, archways and patios, each steeped in history. You may wish to enjoy a traditional tapas lunch in one of the local restaurants (not included). Overnight in Seville.
Day 7 - Seville
After breakfast at the hotel, spend the day continuing to explore Seville at your own pace. Take time to discover more of the city’s vibrant streets, charming neighbourhoods and lively atmosphere. Whether you choose to visit additional landmarks, enjoy local cafés or simply soak up the Andalusian spirit, the day is yours to enjoy. Overnight in Seville.
Day 8 - Jerez de la frontera
After breakfast, we set off on a scenic drive to Jerez de la Frontera, travelling through some of Andalusia’s most charming countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional whitewashed villages known as pueblos blancos, Moorish fortresses, and rustic farmhouses nestled in lush valleys. The route also features historic hilltop hamlets and towns perched on dramatic ridges, offering a vivid glimpse of the region’s varied landscape. Upon arrival in Jerez de la Frontera, we check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 9 - Jerez de la frontera - Ronda
After breakfast, we depart for Ronda via a scenic inland route, passing red earth hills dotted with olive groves. Upon arrival, explore the town’s rich history, evident in the well-preserved remains of five defensive walls. Wander through the maze of whitewashed, cobbled streets leading to the iconic New Bridge spanning the 120-metre-deep El Tajo Gorge. Visit notable landmarks including the Mudejar towers, Renaissance palaces and baroque churches. Discover the Gothic-Renaissance Church of Santa Maria la Mayor, built in the 1480s on the site of the former Moorish mosque. Step inside the eclectic-modernist Casa de Don Juan de Bosco to see a traditional Andalusian home, and explore Spain’s oldest bullring along with its museum. Overnight in Ronda.
Day 10 - Ronda - Malaga
After breakfast, we leave Ronda and drive through striking Andalusian countryside en route to Malaga. Upon arrival, you will check in at the hotel, with the remainder of the day free to explore the city at your own pace or relax on its beaches. Overnight in Malaga or Torremolinos.
