Itinerary
Day 1 - Tunis - Hammamet
Upon arrival at Tunis–Carthage Airport, our airport team and driver will welcome you and transfer you to Hammamet, a key coastal city known for its pleasant atmosphere. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax at the hotel or explore the nearby Yasmine Hammamet area. The day concludes with dinner served at your hotel. Overnight accommodation is in Hammamet.
Day 2 - Hammamet - Kairouan - Tozeur
After breakfast, we transfer to Kairouan, one of Tunisia’s holiest cities. Upon arrival, we take a guided walking tour through the old Medina, exploring its narrow streets and vibrant markets. We visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, founded in 670 AD by the Arab general Uqba Ibn Nafi, a site of great architectural and spiritual significance. Next, we explore the remarkable Aghlabid basins—ancient water reservoirs that once conserved and distributed scarce drinking water. Lunch is included in Kairouan. In the afternoon, we continue south to Tozeur, where you can relax and enjoy the evening at your hotel.
Day 3 - Tozeur - Douz
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a leisurely morning to relax or explore Tozeur at your own pace. Following lunch, we drive across Chott el Djerid, Tunisia’s largest salt lake, where you can admire the striking expanse of white and pink mirages—this unique landscape also served as a filming location for Star Wars. Upon arrival in Douz, known as the ‘gateway to the Sahara’, you will have the remainder of the day free to unwind or explore independently. Overnight in Douz.
Day 4 - Douz - Matmata - El Djem - Sousse
After breakfast, we travel to the ancient village of Matmata, known for its remarkable troglodyte dwellings carved into the earth by Tunisian Berbers. These unique homes remain inhabited and offer a fascinating glimpse into traditional life. You can also visit a nearby site used in the filming of Star Wars. Next, we continue to El Djem to explore the impressive Roman amphitheatre—one of the largest and best-preserved of its kind, dating back around 1,800 years. This arena once hosted gladiator contests and other public spectacles. Following a local lunch in El Djem, we proceed to the Mediterranean town of Sousse, where you have some free time to relax and explore the harbour area of El Kantaoui. Overnight accommodation is in Sousse.
Day 5 - Sousse - Tunis
After breakfast, we will take you to Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque village famed for its striking indigo-blue doors and windows set against whitewashed walls. Perched over 100 metres above sea level, it offers stunning views of the Mediterranean. Next, we visit the nearby archaeological site of Carthage, situated along a beautiful coastline. Although the ancient city was destroyed by the Romans, this UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals excavations of homes, baths and ancient sewage systems. We will also explore the Carthage amphitheatre, built in the first century AD and later restored by the Romans; it now hosts the annual International Music Festival of Carthage, attracting around 30,000 visitors. After a delicious lunch, we continue to downtown Tunis to visit the Bardo National Museum, housed in a former Beylical palace and renowned for its extensive mosaic collection. The day concludes with a visit and some free time in the historic Medina of Tunis before your departure. Breakfast is included.
