Day 1 - Paris
Welcome to Paris! Upon your arrival, we’ll arrange a transfer to your hotel, allowing you some leisure time to unwind. In the afternoon, we'll provide important information about the commencement of your tour. This will be shared with you either in person or via information signs located at the hotel reception. Enjoy the anticipation of the adventure that lies ahead in this magnificent city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Paris
On the second day of our journey, we delve into the opulent history of France with a visit to the illustrious Palace of Versailles. Although admission is not included, you are free to explore its renowned gardens, which showcase the grandeur of French landscape architecture. Returning to Paris, we immerse ourselves in the artistic charm of Montmartre, a bohemian quarter famous for its vibrant community of artists, painters, and the legendary cabarets. In the afternoon, accompanied by a local guide, we embark on a panoramic city tour, revealing Paris's remarkable boulevards and iconic landmarks. Later, we return to the hotel, and for those seeking evening entertainment, an optional variety show is available.
Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
We commence our morning in the heart of Paris with a visit to the renowned Eiffel Tower. You'll have the opportunity to ascend to its second floor, a moment guaranteed to offer splendid views of the city. Following this, we indulge in a tranquil cruise along the Seine River, a quintessential Parisian experience. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, allowing you to explore the city as you wish.At approximately 4:00 p.m., we set off for Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. With roots tracing back to Roman times, Rouen boasts enchanting medieval architecture and a majestic Gothic cathedral, making it a delightful blend of history and culture. You will have free time to wander its vibrant centre, soaking in the unique atmosphere. Please note, if the wait times at the Eiffel Tower are prohibitive, we may rearrange our schedule to accommodate a later visit for your convenience.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
We begin today's adventure with a leisurely stroll through Rouen's historic centre, adorned with medieval architecture and dominated by its stunning Gothic cathedral. After soaking up the city's charm, we travel north through France to the coast. Our journey leads us across the English Channel by ferry, arriving in Canterbury, the spiritual heart of England. Here, you'll have the chance to explore its picturesque streets and absorb the town's rich history. Our day concludes as we make our way to London, where you will have some free time to enjoy the vibrant area around Tower Bridge, one of the city's most iconic landmarks, before we head to the hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - London
Join us for an exploration of London, beginning with a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, where we'll delve into the city's rich culture and history. We'll drive by famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. Depending on the schedule, we might witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony. In the evening, you'll have the opportunity to explore some of London's most vibrant areas. We'll meet at an agreed point in Piccadilly and take a leisurely stroll through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho. Known for their lively atmosphere, these districts are packed with theatres and entertainment venues. There's a wide selection of restaurants to choose from for your dinner before we head back to the hotel.
Day 6 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
In the morning, we will explore the British Museum, one of the world's most venerable institutions, where we will delve into the rich tapestry of global cultures. After some leisure time for lunch, we'll visit the vibrant district of Camden—famed for its eclectic street market. Here, you can wander among unique artefacts and perhaps savour a meal at one of its quaint eateries or food stalls. By around 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Colchester, known as the oldest recorded town in England, where a casual stroll through its historic streets awaits. Our day will conclude with a journey to Harwich, where we’ll board the ferry for an overnight voyage to the Netherlands, ensuring a restful sleep in en suite cabins. Please note that due to limited cabin availability, our itinerary could be adjusted. Alternatives might include travelling from London to Amsterdam by daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or perhaps travelling by train or plane to Amsterdam.
Day 7 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We begin our morning as we arrive in the Netherlands, specifically at Hoek van Holland, around eight o'clock. Our first destination is the quaint fishing village of Volendam, known for its picturesque atmosphere and charming views. Following this, we head to Amsterdam for a guided exploration of the city, which presents a delightful mix of traditional and modern highlights. As we travel through the city, we'll encounter the iconic windmills and the revered Rembrandt statue, sail through the sleek South District, and delve into the historic art of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Our tour concludes on foot, allowing us to wander through Amsterdam's vibrant centre before enjoying some leisure time to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 8 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We will depart from Amsterdam and make our way to Germany. Our journey's first stop is the enchanting town of Hamelin, known for its charming streets and shops that evoke the legend of the Pied Piper, a Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Continuing on our route, we will pass through Marienborn, the historical crossing point that marked the division between East and West Germany until the country's reunification in 1990. We will arrive in Berlin in the evening, ready to explore this vibrant city.
Day 9 - Berlin
Today, we delve into the vibrant city of Berlin, Germany’s capital, renowned for its rich history and modern allure. Our day begins with a guided tour alongside an experienced local, offering insights as we traverse this fascinating city. From the comfort of our coach, we will capture glimpses of landmarks such as Museum Island, the iconic Television Tower, bustling shopping streets, the remains of the old cathedral, the historic Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the city's sprawling parks.Our journey includes stops at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum. Day 10 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We journey through picturesque forests to reach Dresden, a city celebrated for its architectural and artistic treasures. Once there, you'll have time to explore some of its magnificent palaces and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or café. Later, we travel onwards to the Czech Republic, arriving in the vibrant city of Prague. We'll visit the bustling Old Town Square, an area brimming with activity and the perfect introduction to Prague's charm. You're free to savour dinner at one of the many restaurants offering a diverse range of international cuisines, including Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian, before we return to the hotel for the night.
Day 11 - Prague
Today, we will explore the enchanting city of Prague, often referred to as the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our day begins with an engaging panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide, who will take us through the city's most significant landmarks. One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the imposing Prague Castle, with admission included, offering a glimpse into the country's rich history and architecture. Following this, we will enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Vltava River, providing a different perspective of the city’s scenic beauty. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure, allowing you to discover the charming streets and hidden corners of Prague's historic centre.
Day 12 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
On Day 12, we set off early towards Bavaria in Germany. By midday, we arrive in Munich, where you will have some leisure time to explore the historic city centre and enjoy lunch at your own pace. Continuing our journey, we venture into Austria, heading into the stunning Alpine region. On arrival in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, take the opportunity to wander through the enchanting streets. There will be time to savour dinner in the picturesque Golden Roof area within the charming Old Town.
Day 13 - Innsbruck - Zurich
We begin our day with a visit to the renowned Swarovski Museum, an icon of crystal craftsmanship. Here, we explore the stunning gardens and gain insight into the fascinating process behind creating the renowned Swarovski designs. After taking in the artistic marvels, enjoy some free time to wander and discover the area at your leisure. We then proceed to Zurich, marvelling at the picturesque Tyrolean landscapes along our route. Once in Zurich, the evening is yours to enjoy by the serene lakeside in the historic centre. This area offers a diverse range of dining options, where you can indulge in Indian, Oriental, Italian, International, or Swiss cuisine.
Day 14 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today's adventure unfolds amid the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland, renowned for its towering mountains and serene lakes. We begin our day by travelling through the scenic Interlaken region, pausing in the charming village of Grindelwald. Here, take a moment to savour a coffee before we ascend by cable car to explore the mountain paths. Enjoy a walk to a suspended bridge – those seeking a thrill can cross it for stunning views of the surrounding glaciers. After a delightful mountain-top lunch (included), we return downhill.Our journey continues to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most picturesque cities. You’ll have time to wander and absorb its historic charm and stunning vistas. Afterwards, we’ll make our way back to Zurich, where the day concludes. For those interested, our guide offers an optional full-day excursion, which includes some free time in Lucerne before taking a rotating cable car up to the summit of Mount Titlis. At over 3,000 metres, it promises unparalleled views of the glacier and the majestic Alps.
Day 15 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We will set off early from Zurich, crossing the majestic Alps to the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Our first destination is Bellinzona, a city distinguished by its trio of medieval castles that have earned the status of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These impressive fortifications remind us of Bellinzona's historical importance as a key alpine stronghold. You will have some free time to explore the delightful streets of the town centre. Next, we cross into Italy and make our way to the picturesque town of Como for lunch. Known as the jewel of Lombardy, Como is celebrated for its enchanting lakeside gardens and remarkable cathedral. Later, we will continue our journey to Milan. Upon arrival, our guide will lead us to the stunning Piazza del Duomo, where you will have the opportunity to explore the area before being taken to your hotel.
Day 16 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Our adventure continues today as we depart from Milan and make our way to Pisa. You'll board a quaint tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli, a stunning display of Italian artistry. Here, you have the opportunity to marvel at the architectural wonders, most notably the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. After soaking in the splendour of this historic location, we proceed to Rome, arriving later in the day ready to explore Italy's vibrant capital.
Day 17 - Rome
In the morning, we embark on a three-hour guided exploration of Rome, known as the Eternal City. Our journey will weave through the depths of Imperial Rome on foot and by bus, offering you a glimpse into one of the most ancient and influential cities in Western civilisation. We will encounter numerous iconic landmarks, including the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, and the Circus Maximus. We'll also admire the grandeur of the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and the formidable Castel Sant'Angelo. Our tour concludes at Vatican City around 11:00 a.m. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to join an optional tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. As the day winds down, we will head to the charming Trastevere neighbourhood, known for its vibrant atmosphere and inviting restaurants. We’ll return to the hotel around 8:30 p.m.
Day 18 - Rome
After enjoying breakfast, our adventure concludes, allowing you to take with you a trove of unforgettable memories from the journey.
