Christmas Markets on the Romantic Rhine

Welcome aboard the MS RIVER DIAMOND in Düsseldorf. Check-in starts at 4:00 p.m., but if you arrive earlier, you're welcome to leave your luggage at reception and explore Düsseldorf at your leisure. The city is famed for its festive Christmas markets, offering a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture. Later, join us for a welcome cocktail and dinner on board as we set sail. Following a leisurely lunchtime journey along the scenic river, we arrive at Koblenz, a city nestled at the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Here, we dock near the famous Deutsches Eck, or German Corner. Renowned as one of Germany's oldest and most picturesque cities, Koblenz boasts over 2,000 years of history. You will have time to explore at your own pace and perhaps visit the festive Christmas markets. We continue our voyage overnight, drifting through the enchanting riverscape.

We start our morning in Mainz, a city steeped in history as the birthplace of the movable-type printing press, thanks to Johannes Gutenberg. Its fascinating blend of ancient and contemporary is showcased in the thousand-year-old cathedral, which presides over a lively atmosphere typical of a bustling university town. As we enjoy our full board cruise, we will continue our journey and arrive by mid-afternoon in the charming town of Rüdesheim. Known for its picturesque setting and warm hospitality, Rüdesheim invites you to explore its quaint streets and perhaps indulge in some local culinary delights. We will be spending the night here, giving you ample opportunity to soak in the unique atmosphere.

Today, we embark on a journey through one of Europe's most breathtaking landscapes, the Romantic Rhine. This 65-kilometre stretch of river, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is celebrated for its remarkable scenery, historical significance, and enchanting legends like that of the Loreley siren. By early afternoon, we reach Cologne, one of Germany's most renowned cities. Here, we'll explore the historic old town, culminating at its most famous landmark, the magnificent Cologne Cathedral, which serves as the seat of the Archbishop. After dinner, we continue our voyage, returning to Düsseldorf for an overnight sail.

On the fifth day, you'll disembark from the MS RIVER DIAMOND in Düsseldorf after enjoying breakfast on board. By 9:00 a.m., we ask that you vacate your cabin. However, you are welcome to leave your luggage at reception, allowing you to spend more time exploring Düsseldorf before your journey home. Feel free to savour the city's sights at your leisure and according to your departure schedule. This marks the end of our services.
