Day 1 - Frankfurt
Welcome to Frankfurt. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer you to your hotel where you’ll have some free time to settle in. In the afternoon, please check the information boards at the hotel reception for details about the start of your tour. This is your opportunity to familiarise yourself with the itinerary and prepare for the days ahead.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour.
Day 2 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Amsterdam
We begin with a scenic cruise along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine, travelling between the charming villages of Rüdesheim and St. Goar. After enjoying the river’s dramatic landscapes, we continue to Cologne, famous for its vast Gothic cathedral dominating the skyline. Later, we make our way into the Netherlands, arriving in Amsterdam by evening.
Day 3 - Amsterdam
Today we’ll visit some truly picturesque locations that capture the essence of Holland. Our first stop is Zaanse Schans, famous for its traditional houses, canals and iconic windmills. Next, we travel to Volendam, a charming fishing village known for its scenic harbour. From Volendam, we take a short boat ride to Marken, a former island now connected to the mainland by a dike, where houses were traditionally built on stilts to guard against flooding. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of Amsterdam, highlighting a blend of sights including an iconic windmill, the Rembrandt statue, the modern elegance of the South District, and the diamond industry heritage at Museum Square. The coach will drop us off in the city centre, where the tour ends and you’ll have free time to explore Amsterdam’s famous canals, markets and cafés at your leisure.
Day 4 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
We leave Amsterdam and travel into Germany, stopping first in Hamelin – a charming town famous for the Brothers Grimm tale of the Pied Piper. Here, we’ll explore its quaint streets and shops that evoke the story’s setting. Continuing on, we pass through Marienborn, the site of the former border crossing between East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. We arrive in Berlin by evening.
Day 5 - Berlin
We begin the day with a guided tour of Berlin, the dynamic capital of Germany. From the coach, we’ll see key sights including Museum Island, the Television Tower, the city centre’s main shopping streets, the ruins of the old cathedral damaged in World War II, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, and the city’s extensive parks. We’ll also pause to visit two important landmarks: the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, both poignant reminders of Germany’s 20th-century history. The afternoon is yours to explore Berlin at your own pace. In the early evening, we’ll transfer you to the lively Kantstrasse area, known for its vibrant dining and nightlife options.
Day 6 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
We’ll travel through forested landscapes towards Dresden, a city celebrated for its remarkable architectural and artistic heritage and one of Germany’s most popular destinations. You’ll have time to explore some of its grand palaces and enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants or cafés. Later, we’ll continue to the Czech Republic, arriving in Prague. We’ll visit Old Town Square, a lively hub full of activity and ideal for your first experience of the city. You can choose to dine at one of the numerous restaurants offering a range of international cuisines, including Czech, Chinese, Indian, and Italian, before we return to the hotel.
Day 7 - Prague
Today we explore Prague, often called Europe’s Baroque jewel. A local guide will take us on a panoramic tour of the city’s most impressive monuments, including a visit to Prague Castle, with admission included. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Vltava River. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to discover the city at your own pace.
Day 8 - Prague - Munich - Innsbruck
We depart early and travel to Bavaria, arriving in Munich around midday. You’ll have free time to explore the historic city centre and enjoy lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we continue into Austria, reaching Innsbruck in the heart of the Alps. Here, you’ll have time to wander through the Old Town and the area around the Golden Roof, with the opportunity to enjoy dinner at your own pace.
Day 9 - Innsbruck - Salzburg
Today we visit the Swarovski Museum, renowned for its exquisite crystal creations. We’ll explore the impressive gardens and learn about the craftsmanship behind each piece. Afterwards, you’ll have some free time to wander through Innsbruck’s historic centre. We then continue along scenic mountain roads to Kitzbühel, a Tyrolean town famous for its year-round snow and the legendary Hahnenkamm ski race, one of the most prestigious alpine skiing events. By the end of the day, we arrive in Salzburg.
Day 10 - Salzburg - Lake Traunsee - Vienna
Today, we’ll explore Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, renowned for its stunning Renaissance and Baroque architecture centred beneath the imposing fortress. Afterwards, we travel through scenic lakes and mountains to St Wolfgang, a well-known pilgrimage destination in Austria. From there, we continue to Traunkirchen on the shores of Lake Traunsee, where we’ll take a cruise included in the tour. The boat will pass four castles before arriving in Gmunden. We then make our way to Vienna, arriving in the evening.
Day 11 - Vienna
Today, we explore Vienna on a panoramic tour led by a local guide. We’ll see the city’s grand avenues, magnificent palaces, extensive parks, and lively centre. In the afternoon, you have free time to discover Vienna at your own pace. In the evening, we’ll transfer you to the Grinzing district—formerly a wine-growing village now integrated into the city—famous for its traditional taverns. Here, you can enjoy dinner and soak up the local atmosphere at your leisure.
Day 12 - Vienna
After breakfast, your tour concludes, and you will be free to continue your travels or return home with memorable experiences from your journey.
