You will wind past rolling hills to Bomdila for monastery visits, market browsing and vast mountain views, then continue to Tawang to explore its famed monastery, peaceful Urgelling Gompa and the moving War Memorial. Expect to see thundering Nuranang Falls, panoramic Sella Pass and its mirror like Paradise Lake, plus hot springs and heritage at Dirang. In Sangti Valley you will watch for black necked cranes in season. Back in Tezpur you will uncover legends at Agnigarh, ancient carvings at Bamuni Hills and revered Mahabhairab Temple.

Day 1 - Tezpur to Bomdila
Tezpur – Bomdila (154 kilometres – approx. 4 hours). We meet you at Tezpur airport and set off on a scenic drive to Bomdila, passing hill country, forested slopes and river valleys. On arrival, we check you in to a cosy guest house.
We visit Bomdila View Point for sweeping views of the Eastern Himalayas, then wander through Bomdila Market to browse local handicrafts and traditional artefacts. We round off the day with dinner at the hotel, where you can sample regional favourites such as momos, thukpa and ara. Overnight in Bomdila.
Day 2 - Bomdila to Tawang
Bomdila to Tawang – 180 kilometres – about 5 hours. We begin at Bomdila Monastery, a serene replica of Tibet’s Tsona Gontse Monastery, adorned with colourful prayer flags and intricate Buddhist paintings. We continue to Bomdila View Point for sweeping Himalayan vistas, including the snow covered peaks of Gorichen and Kangto, then visit the Bomdila Craft Centre to see local artisans at work. We drive on to Tawang, pausing at Nuranang (Jung) Waterfalls for a photo stop, and on arrival we check in and settle into the hotel. In the evening you can explore Tawang’s local market for traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 - Exploring Tawang Monastery
We begin with Tawang Monastery – one of the largest in the world – home to valuable scriptures and an impressive 18–foot gilded statue of the Buddha. We continue to Urgelling Gompa, a small, quiet monastery among pine forests and regarded as the birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama. We then pay our respects at the Tawang War Memorial, honouring soldiers who fell in the 1962 Indo–China war. We stop at the local handicraft centre to see and buy traditional crafts, supporting local artisans, and we visit the Giant Buddha statue, an important religious and cultural landmark.
Your evening is at leisure – you can explore local eateries and cafes or simply unwind and enjoy Tawang’s peaceful atmosphere. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Tawang to Dirang
We drive 140 km – around 5 hours – from Tawang to Dirang, stopping first at Jaswant Garh War Memorial, which honours Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, a hero of the 1962 Indo–China war. We then cross Sella Pass for sweeping Himalayan views and pause at Paradise Lake – a tranquil high–altitude spot that’s ideal for photos.
On arrival in Dirang, we explore Dirang Dzong, an ancient fort overlooking the river, and visit Dirang Monastery to gain an insight into local Buddhist traditions. We also take a restorative dip at the natural hot water spring before checking in at our hotel. You can unwind and enjoy a peaceful evening in the mountains. Overnight in Dirang.
Day 5 - Sangti Valley, Kalachakra Gompa & Return to Tezpur
Dirang – Tezpur (190 km – approx. 5 hours). We start the day in Sangti Valley, taking in its lush scenery and the migratory black‑necked cranes, then visit Kalachakra Gompa for an insight into local Buddhist practice and architecture. We continue on a scenic drive to Tezpur, pausing by the Dirang River before arriving in town.
In Tezpur, we explore Agnigarh – a historic hillock linked to local legends with wide views over the area – and discover the 9th century rock carvings at Bamuni Hills. We visit Da‑Parbatia, an archaeological site with the remains of an ancient Hindu temple considered one of the oldest in Assam, and the Mahabhairab Temple, an important Shiva shrine. We round off at Chitralekha Udyan – also known as Cole Park – a landscaped garden with sculptures, water features and boating. Return to your Tezpur hotel where you can unwind after a full day of history, culture and nature. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 - Tezpur
We arrange a punctual transfer to Tezpur Airport for your onward flight. Bid farewell to this enchanting region, taking home memories of majestic landscapes, vibrant culture and warm hospitality.
