Day 1 - Durgavado - Goa - Belgaum
We collect you from your hotel or Goa airport and drive to Belgaum (125 km – approx. 3 hours) through the Western Ghats. On arrival we check in to your hotel, then begin with Belgaum Fort, whose precincts include temples and mosques reflecting centuries of history. We continue to Kapileshwar Temple, known for its serene ambience and intricate carvings, before heading up to Rajhansgad Yellur Fort, a hilltop fortress with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We end the day at St Mary’s Church, admired for its Gothic design and tranquil atmosphere. Overnight in Belgaum.
Day 2 - Belgaum - Bijapur
After breakfast, we depart Belgaum for the historic city of Bijapur – a journey of around 220 kilometres taking approximately five hours. En route, we pause at Gokak Falls to admire the cascade and walk the hanging bridge. On arrival in Bijapur, we check in at the hotel, and the remainder of the day is free for you to relax at your own pace. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 - Bijapur - Badami
After breakfast in Bijapur, we set out to explore the city’s landmark monuments before driving to Badami – 120 km, around 3 hours. We begin at Bijapur Fort, taking in key sites within and around the complex, including Asar Mahal, the unfinished arches of Bara Kaman, and Gol Gumbaz, noted for its monumental dome. We continue to Jama Masjid, pause at the colossal Malik–e–Maidan cannon, and admire the craftsmanship of Mehtar Mahal and the elegant Ibrahim Rouza.Later, we drive to Badami and check in at the hotel. You can spend the remainder of the day at leisure, relaxing and preparing for tomorrow’s visits. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Badami - Aihole
Badami After breakfast, we set out to Aihole – long regarded as a cradle of temple architecture in Karnataka – to explore the Durga Temple, Lad Khan Temple and the Ravanaphadi cave temples, each showcasing distinct styles and fine carvings. We then continue to Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to admire the Virupaksha Temple and the Jain temple, celebrated for their exemplary Chalukyan craftsmanship. Before returning, we stop at the Mahakuta Group of Temples to see classic Dravidian forms and intricate stonework.Back in Badami, we explore the ancient cave temples carved into sandstone cliffs and dating to the 6th century, noted for sculptures of Hindu deities. We ascend to the hilltop Badami Fort for wide views over the town and surrounding landscape, then pause by Agastya Lake at the foot of the cliffs to enjoy its tranquil setting and reflections of the nearby caves. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 - Badami - Goa - Karnataka
Badami to Goa – approximately 250 km – about 5 hours. After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Badami and drive back to Goa, taking in the scenic landscapes of Karnataka en route. On arrival, we will drop you at your Goa hotel or at the airport – you can choose your preferred drop off point. This concludes your journey through Karnataka’s historical highlights.
