Itinerary
Day 1 - New Delhi - Delhi
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, a representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Delhi presents a striking contrast between the ‘old’ and the ‘new’—Old Delhi, once the Muslim Indian capital from the 17th to 19th centuries, is rich with mosques, forts, monuments and bustling bazaars that retain a medieval atmosphere. In contrast, New Delhi, established by the British, showcases impressive monuments reflecting the legacies of Mughal, Turk, Persian and British rulers. In the evening, we will hold a welcome briefing to introduce the tour and answer any questions. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2 - Delhi
After breakfast, we set out on a full-day sightseeing tour of Delhi, exploring both Old and New Delhi. Begin with a visit to the imposing Red Fort, the largest monument in Old Delhi (closed on Mondays). Nearby stands the 17th-century Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. We then walk through the bustling bazaars of Chandni Chowk, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of this historic market. Next, we visit Raj Ghat, the simple black marble memorial marking the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. In New Delhi, we see the India Gate, a First World War memorial, and travel along the ceremonial boulevard leading to the President’s House, flanked by the Parliament and Secretariat buildings. Our tour continues with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, an important precursor to the Taj Mahal. Before returning to the hotel, we stop at Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 3 - Delhi - Jaipur
After breakfast, we travel to Jaipur, known as the ‘Pink City’ for its distinctive rose-coloured buildings. Jaipur offers a rich blend of royal cuisine, historic monuments and vibrant markets, all complemented by warm Rajput hospitality. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to explore or relax. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 4 - Jaipur
After breakfast, we begin with a morning tour of Amber Fort, perched on a ridge overlooking a lake. While its sturdy exterior suggests a fortress, inside you’ll find richly decorated palaces, temples and landscaped gardens. Highlights include the Sheesh Mahal, a dazzling hall adorned with thousands of mirror pieces, the frescoed Ganesh Pol gate and the colonnaded Diwan-i-Aam. Returning to Jaipur’s old city, we visit the City Palace complex, including the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal palaces, the intricately carved Peacock Gate and the Armoury Museum, which displays an impressive collection of royal weaponry. We then explore Jantar Mantar, the world’s largest stone astronomical observatory, featuring 14 geometric instruments designed to measure time, predict eclipses and track celestial bodies. The day concludes with a photo stop at the striking Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, followed by visits to Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars—Johari for jewels and saris, Tripolia for bronzes and lacquerware, Bapu for perfumes and textiles, and Chandpol for pottery and bracelets. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 5 - Jaipur - Agra
After breakfast, we travel to Agra, situated on the banks of the River Yamuna. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 17th century, Agra was renowned for its gardens, waterfalls, bathhouses and canals. Today, the city is known for its vibrant crafts industry, including marble inlay work and carpet weaving. Upon arrival, we check in to your hotel, where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s exploration. Overnight in Agra.
Day 6 - Agra - Delhi
Begin the day with breakfast at your hotel before setting out on a sightseeing tour of Agra. Visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, a mid-17th-century mausoleum built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Take time to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of the 20,000 artisans from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy who contributed to this iconic monument. (Please note the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.) Continue to Agra Fort, a formidable red sandstone fortress housing several grand Mughal palaces. Explore the Diwan-i-Am, where the emperor addressed his subjects, and the Diwan-i-Khas, used for private audiences with dignitaries. Also visit the white marble Mina Masjid, which contrasts strikingly with the rest of the fort. After your tour, drive back to Delhi and check in to your hotel for the evening.
Day 7 - Delhi - Kathmandu
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Delhi airport for your flight to Kathmandu (flight not included). Upon arrival in Kathmandu, a representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. After check-in, you have the remainder of the day at your leisure to explore the city or relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 8 - Kathmandu
After breakfast, begin the day with a spiritual tour of Kathmandu’s most revered sites. Visit the Hindu Pashupatinath Temple, situated on the banks of the sacred River Bagmati. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this vast complex is one of the most important Hindu shrines worldwide, attracting thousands of pilgrims annually, especially during the festival of Shivaratri. While entry to the main temple is restricted to Hindus, the surrounding atmosphere—with its gilded triple-roofed temple and devoted worshippers—offers a compelling experience. Next, explore Boudhanath, Nepal’s largest Buddhist stupa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dating back to the fifth century, it is a major centre of Tibetan Buddhism, adorned with prayer wheels and colourful prayer flags. In the afternoon, travel approximately 10 kilometres south to Patan and discover Durbar Square, a historic area renowned for its blend of Buddhist and Hindu architecture in the traditional Newar style. This remarkable complex features the former palace of the Malla kings, elegant courtyards, intricately carved temples, and shrines. Highlights include the Krishna Temple and the Rudra Varna Mahavihar monastery. After exploring this cultural treasure, return to your hotel in Kathmandu for the evening.
Day 9 - Kathmandu
After breakfast, enjoy a free day to relax or explore Kathmandu and its surroundings at your own pace. This is an ideal opportunity to visit local markets, discover hidden temples, or simply soak up the city’s unique atmosphere. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 10 - Kathmandu
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and take your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for your onward flight. This marks the conclusion of your time in Nepal as you prepare to continue your journey.
