Itinerary
Day 1 - New Delhi - Delhi
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, a representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Delhi is a city of contrasts, where the vibrant, historic streets of Old Delhi meet the grand, imperial avenues of New Delhi. Old Delhi, once the Muslim capital from the 17th to 19th centuries, is rich with mosques, forts and bustling bazaars that retain a medieval character. New Delhi, designed during British rule, showcases impressive monuments reflecting the legacies of Mughal, Turk, Persian and British rulers. In the evening, we will hold a welcome briefing to introduce you to the journey ahead. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2 - Delhi
After breakfast, we set out on a full-day sightseeing tour of Delhi, exploring both Old and New Delhi’s key landmarks. Begin with the imposing Red Fort, the largest monument in Old Delhi (closed on Mondays). Nearby is the 17th-century Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. We then walk through the bustling bazaars of Chandni Chowk, experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of this historic market. Next, visit Raj Ghat, the simple black marble memorial marking Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation site. In New Delhi, we see the India Gate, a First World War memorial, and the grand avenue leading to the President’s House, flanked by Parliament and the Secretariat buildings. The tour continues to Humayun’s Tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal, before concluding at Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. We then return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 3 - Delhi - Jaipur
After breakfast, we travel to Jaipur, known as the ‘Pink City’ for its distinctive rose-hued buildings. Jaipur offers a rich blend of royal cuisine, impressive historical sites, vibrant markets and warm Rajput hospitality. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure to explore or relax. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 4 - Jaipur
After breakfast, we begin with a morning tour of Amber Fort, perched on a ridge overlooking a lake. Though its sturdy, weathered walls appear formidable, inside you’ll find richly decorated palaces, temples and landscaped gardens. Marvel at the Sheesh Mahal, a chamber adorned entirely with intricate mirror work, and admire the frescoes of the Ganesh Pol gate alongside the colonnade of the Diwan-i-Aam. We then return to Jaipur’s old city to explore the City Palace complex, including the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal palaces, the ornately decorated Peacock Gate, and the Armoury Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of royal weapons. Next, we visit Jantar Mantar, the world’s largest stone astronomical observatory featuring 14 major instruments designed to measure time, predict eclipses and track celestial movements. The tour concludes with a photo stop at the striking Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, followed by visits to Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars—Johari for jewels and saris, Tripolia for bronzes and lacquerware, Bapu for perfumes and textiles, and Chandpol for pottery and bracelets. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 5 - Jaipur - Agra
After breakfast, we depart for Agra, situated on the banks of the River Yamuna. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire in the 17th century, Agra was renowned for its gardens, waterfalls, bathhouses and canals. Today, the city is known for its vibrant crafts industry, including exquisite marble inlay work and carpets. Upon arrival, we check in to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and prepare for the days ahead. Overnight in Agra.
Day 6 - Agra - Delhi
Begin the day with breakfast at your hotel before setting out on a sightseeing tour of Agra. Visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, a mid-17th-century mausoleum built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Take time to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of the 20,000 artisans from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy who contributed to this iconic monument. (Please note the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.) Continue to Agra Fort, a formidable red sandstone fortress housing several grand Mughal palaces. Explore the Diwan-i-Am, where the emperor addressed the public, and the Diwan-i-Khas, used for private audiences with dignitaries. Also visit the white marble Mina Masjid, which contrasts strikingly with the fort’s red walls. After the tour, travel back to Delhi and check in to your hotel for the evening.
Day 7 - Delhi - Udaipur
After breakfast, we transfer you to Delhi airport for your flight to Udaipur (flight not included). On arrival, a representative will welcome you and escort you to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, we take a shared boat cruise on Lake Pichola, offering a fresh perspective of the city. You will see the City Palace, temples, bathing ghats and the two ‘floating’ palaces on the lake, with a stop at Jag Mandir. As the sun sets, enjoy the golden light reflecting on the water before returning to the quay and transferring back to your hotel. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 8 - Udaipur
After breakfast, we explore Udaipur on a guided sightseeing tour. Known as the White City, Udaipur sits on the northern shore of Lake Pichola, framed by the Aravalli Hills. We visit the City Palace, the former seat of the maharajas of Mewar, now a museum displaying the opulent royal residences. Next, we visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari, the Garden of the Maids of Honour, once a venue for royal celebrations. We then take a drive around Fateh Sagar Lake, passing the Lok Kala Mandal puppet museum and the statue of Maharana Pratap. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 9 - Udaipur
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Udaipur airport for your onward journey. It is recommended to book a flight departing around 14:10 (flight not included). This concludes your time in Udaipur.
