You’ll settle into Badami to admire its rock cut cave temples, then explore UNESCO gems at Pattadakal and Aihole. Expect to see evocative ruins in Hampi, with time among grand mandapas and the musical pillars of the Vithala complex. Itinerary
Day 1 - Hubli to Badami
Hubli to Badami – 110 km – approximately 2 hours. We meet you at Hubli Airport and drive to Badami, then check in at your hotel. Once the capital of the early Chalukyas, Badami is known for its impressive rock-cut cave temples that showcase early Indian stone architecture. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and settle into the tranquil surroundings. Overnight in Badami.
Day 2 - Pattadakal & Aihole Day Trip
We set out from Badami for an excursion to Pattadakal – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and nearby Aihole. In Pattadakal, we explore the Group of Monuments, where Hindu and Jain temples feature intricate carvings that reflect religious traditions and cultural themes.
We continue to Aihole to visit the Mallikarjuna Temple Complex, noted for its blend of Dravidian and northern architectural styles, and take in key sites including the Durga Temple, Huchamalli Temple, Meguti Jain Temple and the Ravanapadhi Cave temple. We return to Badami for the night.
Day 3 - Gadag, Lakkundi & Hampi
Badami – Hampi (140 km/3 hrs approx.) After breakfast, we drive to Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ruins and temples. En route, we visit Gadag and Lakkundi to explore ruined temples that reflect Karnataka’s architectural heritage. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Exploring Hampi
Spend the day exploring the area’s key monuments, including Virupaksha Temple, Hazara Rama Temple, the King’s Balance, Mahanavami Dibba, the Ugra Narasimha statue, Lotus Mahal and the Vithala Temple Complex. After a day of discovery, you return to your hotel to unwind – overnight in Hampi.
Day 5 - Halebedu & Belur to Hassan
Hampi – Hassan (330 km – 7 hrs approx) After breakfast we set off for Hassan, stopping en route to explore the architectural highlights of Halebedu and Belur. In Halebedu we visit the Hoysaleswara Temple to admire its intricate carvings, then continue to Belur to explore the Chennakeshava Temple and its historical narratives. We then proceed to Hassan. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 - Hassan to Mysore
Hassan – Mysore (120 km – 3 hours approx). After breakfast we drive to Mysore, Karnataka’s cultural capital. On arrival we check in to the hotel, then begin our sightseeing. We visit the opulent Mysore Palace to appreciate its Indo–Saracenic design, ornate interiors and grand halls that reflect the city’s royal past and its famed Dussehra festivities. We then continue up Chamundi Hills to the Chamundeshwari Temple and the monumental Nandi bull statue, taking in panoramic views of the city. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 - Mysore to Bangalore
Leaving Mysore, we drive to Bangalore and check in at the hotel on arrival. We then explore the botanical highlights of Lal Bagh Garden and visit the impressive Bangalore Palace. We continue to Tippu’s Summer Palace and the Government buildings of Vidhana Soudha in Chamrajpet. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 - Bangalore
After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer you to Bengaluru airport in time for your onward journey – a fitting farewell to Karnataka’s cultural and historical highlights.
