Itinerary
Day 1 - Delhi to Jaipur
We collect you from your Delhi city hotel or the airport and drive to Jaipur – around 265 km, approximately 5 hours – and check in at your hotel. This evening you can explore Jaipur’s local markets at your own pace, including Johari Bazaar, Tripolia Bazaar, Chandpole Bazaar, Kishanpole Bazaar, Nehru Bazaar, Sireh Deori Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar and Mirza Ismail Road. Overnight at your Jaipur hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Amber Fort & Jaipur
After breakfast at your hotel, we set out on a full day tour of Jaipur. We begin at Amber Fort – the former capital – built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, blending Hindu and Islamic design, with the Shila Devi Temple, the ornate Ganesh Pol leading to the private palaces, and views over Maota Lake.
We continue to Jaigarh Fort, constructed to protect Amber and linked to it by underground passages. Here, vast ramparts provide panoramic views of the city. We pause at Jal Mahal, set in Mansagar Lake and backed by the Nahargarh Hills, once a pleasure retreat also used for royal duck shoots. We visit the ancient Hindu pilgrimage site at Galtaji, known for its natural springs and seven sacred kunds, including the Galta Kund believed never to run dry.
We explore a royal garden decorated with Radha–Krishna murals, fountains, pavilions and water channels – traditionally a retreat for the queen. We take in Jantar Mantar, the early 18th century astronomical observatory with monumental instruments designed for observation with the naked eye. We tour the City Palace complex in the heart of the Pink City, including Mubarak Mahal and Chandra Mahal – a palace of seven storeys with gardens and richly decorated interiors. We also see Hawa Mahal, the five storey red and pink sandstone facade from 1799, and visit the white marble Birla Temple below Moti Dungri, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. In the evening, you can explore Jaipur’s markets again with your driver at your own pace. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Jaipur to Mandawa
Jaipur – Mandawa (170 km – approx. 3 hours). After breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Mandawa and check in. Once a trading outpost on caravan routes across Shekhawati, Mandawa grew around the fort built by Thakur Nawal Singh to protect the settlement. We then explore its renowned havelis – grand merchant mansions with detailed wall paintings dating from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century, often depicting scenes from Hindu mythology and local fauna.
We visit Mandawa Fort, Hanuman Prasad Goenka’s Haveli, Jhunjhunwala’s Haveli, Saraf Haveli, Murmuria’s Haveli, Raghunath Ji Temple, Ladia Haveli, Chokhani and Newatia Havelis, and Lord Krishna Temple. In the evening, you are free to relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 - Return to Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart Mandawa for Delhi – around 250 km, taking approximately five hours depending on traffic. On arrival in the capital, we’ll drop you at your Delhi hotel or at the airport for your onward journey.
