In Mumbai you’ll stroll Marine Drive, sail from the Gateway of India to the UNESCO listed Elephanta Caves, admire CST’s Gothic grandeur and peek into Bollywood neighbourhoods before a serene stop at the ISKCON Temple. Fly east to Kolkata to explore Fort William, the Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge and Dakshineswar Kali Temple. Then it’s the Sunderbans – boat safaris through tangled creeks, village encounters and tiger spotting from Sudhanyakhali. Expect sunsets, rich culture and memorable photos.

Day 1 - Mumbai
On arrival in Mumbai – a vibrant metropolis known for bustling streets, historic landmarks and Bollywood – we greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After you settle in, the rest of the day is at leisure. You can explore local markets to sample the street‑food scene and soak up the city’s energy, or simply relax at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Mumbai
We begin with an easy stroll along Marine Drive – the Queen’s Necklace – to watch sunrise over the Arabian Sea. From the Gateway of India, we board a motorboat to Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rock cut temples to Lord Shiva and intricately carved sculptures. Back in the city, we take a panoramic drive past the Parliament House and the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, formerly Victoria Terminus. At Dhobi Ghat, we see Mumbai’s open air laundry in action, where dhobis work in long rows of concrete wash pens. We then continue to Bandra and Juhu to experience neighbourhoods closely linked with Bollywood, passing notable residences and familiar seafronts. As evening falls, we visit the ISKCON Temple for the aarti ceremony – a serene close to the day. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Fly to Kolkata
Mumbai – Kolkata (flight) We bid farewell to Mumbai and fly to Kolkata – the cultural capital of India and often called the City of Joy. On arrival, we meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free – you can unwind and acclimatise before you start exploring. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Exploring Kolkata
Kolkata We delve into the city’s layered history, beginning at Fort William – a defining landmark of the colonial era – then continue to the Victoria Memorial, where galleries of paintings, sculptures and historical artefacts trace Kolkata’s past.
We move on to Netaji Bhawan to explore the life and legacy of Subhas Chandra Bose through photographs, documents and personal belongings. Crossing the iconic Howrah Bridge – among the busiest cantilever bridges in the world – we take in views over the Hooghly River. Later, we visit Dakshineswar Kali Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, to observe the rituals and appreciate its distinctive architecture. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 - Sundarbans National Park
After breakfast, we leave Kolkata for Sunderban National Park – around 130 km and approximately 3 hours’ drive. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest mangrove forest, Sunderban borders the Bay of Bengal and shelters diverse wildlife, including the Royal Bengal tiger. On arrival, we check in at your hotel or resort. The rest of the day is free – you can unwind, soak up the tranquillity of the forest and prepare for the wildlife experiences ahead. Overnight at hotel or resort.
Day 6 - Exploring Sunderbans National Park
Sunderban National Park. Wake to birdsong, then we set out by boat along the winding creeks, navigating dense mangrove forests that shelter diverse wildlife. We meet communities along the riverbanks to learn about their culture, traditions and livelihoods shaped by life on the waterways. We continue to the Sudhanyakhali watchtower – a prime spot for tiger sightings – keeping a careful lookout for the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger while an experienced guide explains the park’s ecology. As the day draws to a close, we remain on the water to watch the sunset over the mangroves – you may wish to keep your camera ready – before returning to your hotel or resort for the night.
Day 7 - Return to Kolkata
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart Sunderban National Park for Kolkata – around 130 km and approximately three hours by road. Settle back and take in the mangrove-fringed scenery of the Sunderban delta as we retrace our route, a final chance to reflect on your wildlife encounters. On arrival in Kolkata, we transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
