This route offers stunning views over the Amalfi Coast, with ancient stone paths winding through fragrant Mediterranean vegetation. Along the way, you’ll take in sweeping panoramas of the Tyrrhenian Sea, dramatic cliffs, and charming fishing villages below. After the hike, we visit Positano, often called the jewel of the Amalfi Coast. Here, you can explore narrow, winding streets lined with boutiques, cafés, and restaurants serving authentic Italian cuisine at your leisure. Later, we return to the campus in Pimonte for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 3 - Pompeii - Pimonte
After breakfast, we transfer to Pompeii to meet your local guide. Entering through Porta Marina, you’ll begin with an introduction to the city’s rich history before exploring the Forum—the centre of public life—where the ruins of government buildings and temples stand. We visit the well-preserved public baths, imagining the social scenes in the frigidarium, tepidarium and caldarium. The grand Amphitheatre and nearby theatres reveal Pompeii’s vibrant entertainment culture. Walking through the streets, we explore the luxurious House of the Faun and the Villa of the Mysteries, noted for their intricate mosaics and frescoes. A stop at the Lupanar brothel offers insight into the city’s more private aspects. The Garden of the Fugitives displays plaster casts of victims, a poignant reminder of the catastrophic eruption. We also highlight religious practices at the Temple of Apollo before concluding with a walk along the Street of Tombs, leaving you with a profound sense of Pompeii’s lively past and tragic fate.
Next, we visit a local vineyard on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, where the owners share the secrets behind their unique volcanic wines, often labelled “Lacryma Christi” (Tears of Christ). These wines reflect the fertile volcanic soil and regional heritage. We’ll taste a selection alongside a light lunch of local products.
In the afternoon, we transfer to Mount Vesuvius and hike to its summit. From here, you can peer into the active crater and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and the Bay of Naples. We then return to the campus in Pimonte for the evening.
Day 4 - Sorrento - Pimonte
After breakfast, we transfer to Sorrento to meet your local guide for a food walking tour through this charming coastal town. As we stroll along Sorrento’s lively streets and alleys, we savour typical local specialties such as pizza, gelato, and limoncello. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, while soaking up the warm, welcoming atmosphere and interacting with friendly locals. The tour offers a delicious insight into the flavours and culture of the region. After the walk, you will have some free time for personal activities before we return to the campus for dinner.

After breakfast, we transfer to the Port of Castellammare to meet our local guide. A short ride on a hydrofoil brings us to Capri Town, where we explore its narrow streets, boutique shops, and lively piazzas, including the famous Piazzetta. Using the local funicular, we reach this picturesque square, the island’s social hub. The tour continues with a chairlift ride up Monte Solaro, Capri’s highest point, offering spectacular panoramic views. You will then have free time for lunch and shopping before we return by hydrofoil to Castellammare and transfer back to the campus for dinner. Overnight in Pimonte.
Day 6 - Naples
We collect you from the hotel and travel to Naples for an urban walking tour beginning at Castel Sant’Elmo. This fortress, built between 1340 and 1343 under Queen Joanna of Anjou, now serves as a museum and offers spectacular panoramic views over the Gulf of Naples from its position on Vomero hill—a perfect vantage point to familiarise yourself with the city. From here, we descend slowly along the Pedamentina, a staircase of 414 steps linking Vomero to the historic centre, passing through charming, picturesque surroundings before arriving in the Spanish Quarter.
We continue through its alleys, following a route that leads us into the heart of Naples’ historic centre. Our walk takes us to the Monumental Centre, where we explore key landmarks including the Royal Palace, San Carlo Opera House, and the famous Spaccanapoli street. Along the way, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant local culture, sampling authentic Neapolitan cuisine and uncovering the city’s rich history and legends. We also visit the Toledo Metro Station, renowned as one of the world’s most beautiful subway stations. After this extensive walk, we enjoy a classic Neapolitan pizza—celebrated as the original and best in the world. A short stroll brings us to Bar Gambrinus, an iconic café famed for its elegant Belle Époque décor and cultural heritage. Here, we savour a traditional Neapolitan espresso and a sfogliatella pastry in a refined, timeless setting that reflects Naples’ café culture and intellectual spirit. You will then have some free time before we return to the campus in Pimonte for dinner.
