Itinerary
Day 1 - Palermo
Upon arrival in Palermo, make your own way to the hotel and check in (airport or train station transfers are available at an additional cost). At 13.00, join a shared guided tour of the Palazzo dei Normanni and its Cappella Palatina – two of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The Royal Palace of Palermo, Europe’s oldest royal residence, offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of Sicily’s ruling dynasties. On the palace’s second floor, explore the Cappella Palatina, built in 1140, renowned for its stunning blend of Islamic, Byzantine, and Norman art and architecture. This exceptional example of Arab-Norman-Byzantine style reveals the cultural influences that shaped the region. Overnight in Palermo.
Day 2 - Palermo
After breakfast at the hotel, we begin the day with a small-group cooking class led by a professional chef. First, we visit Palermo’s renowned Mercato del Capo, where you’ll explore the vibrant market stalls and discover the fresh ingredients that define Sicilian cuisine. Here, you’ll learn how to select the best produce for your cooking session. Following the market visit, we return to the kitchen to prepare a three-course meal featuring traditional Sicilian dishes. The chef will guide you through each recipe in an engaging and hands-on way. At the end of the class, you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour and receive a digital recipe booklet to recreate these authentic flavours at home. Overnight in Palermo.
Day 3 - Palermo - Erice - Marsala - Palermo
After breakfast, we leave Palermo for a full-day small group tour led by an expert guide. Our first stop is the medieval hilltop village of Erice, where you can wander narrow streets and discover charming courtyards. Take in stunning views of the Egadi Islands and the city of Trapani from several vantage points. The village’s timeless atmosphere offers a glimpse into Sicily’s past. We’ll pause for a refreshing Sicilian granita before continuing to the next highlight. At lunch, enjoy a traditional Sicilian meal paired with local wines and a tasting of the region’s renowned olive oil. Afterwards, we travel along Sicily’s west coast to Marsala, famous for its sweet wine and salt pans known as Saline. This 30-kilometre stretch is one of Italy’s most scenic drives, where you can step out to experience the salty sea air and admire the working salt windmills. After this memorable day, we return to Palermo for the night.
Day 4 - Palermo
After breakfast, enjoy your final morning in Palermo. If time allows, take a last stroll through the city to soak up the atmosphere or pick up any last-minute souvenirs. When you’re ready, transfer to the airport or train station is available as an optional extra to suit your onward travel plans.
