Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Tokyo & Senso-ji Temple

Upon arrival in Tokyo Japan, make your own way to the accommodation. The rest of the morning is yours to explore at your leisure. You might visit the Tokyo Skytree, Japan’s tallest structure, offering stunning panoramic views of the city and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. Alternatively, relax and enjoy the local atmosphere at your own pace.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy a Japanese meal and introduce you to the rest of the group. After dinner, when the bustling crowds have eased, we will head out to explore the enchanting Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo, beautifully illuminated at night.

Day 2

Harajuku, Yoyogi Park & Akihabara

We’ll begin the morning with a Japan Orientation Briefing, where you’ll learn some essential Japanese customs and phrases to help you throughout your journey. Our first stop is Harajuku, the heart of Japanese teen pop culture, where vibrant fashion and creativity come to life. From there, we’ll make our way to the peaceful surroundings of Yoyogi Park, home to the magnificent Meiji Shrine, offering a serene contrast to the bustling city.

Next, we’ll head into the electric energy of Akihabara, Tokyo’s hub of neon lights and quirky charm. This lively district is packed with arcades, unique shops, and the famous Maid Cafes. Whether you fancy a friendly arcade challenge, a taste of local café culture, or simply wandering through the vibrant streets, Akihabara promises an unforgettable sensory experience for you to choose from.

Day 3

Sushi-Making Class & Shibuya Crossing

After breakfast, we’ll set off for an exclusive sushi-making class, where we’ll learn how to prepare Miso soup, craft three types of sushi, and uncover the secrets of making the perfect Teriyaki sauce. After you will have some free time to relax or alternatively you could opt to visit Toyosu Fish Market, or Songokuji Temple.

In the evening, we’ll head to Shinjuku to take in the stunning views of Tokyo’s skyline. We’ll wander through the famous Omoide Yokocho Alley, known for its charming eateries and unique atmosphere, before enjoying dinner. To finish the day, we’ll experience the lively energy of the Shibuya Pedestrian Crossing, one of Tokyo’s most iconic landmarks.

Day 4

Exploring Hakone & Mt. Fuji

Tokyo - Hakone. Today, we journey from Tokyo on the aptly named Romance Car to the charming mountain town of Hakone. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into our guesthouse surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

The day will be spent exploring Hakone’s scenic beauty using various modes of transport, each offering a unique perspective of the area. What makes Hakone truly special? Its delicious local cuisine and the chance to take in breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji on clear days. After a day of exploration and capturing memories of Japan’s iconic mountain, we’ll come together for a traditional Japanese Nabe dinner at the guesthouse, followed by some lighthearted family games to wrap up the evening.

Day 5

Takayama & Temple Stay

Hakone - Takayama. Today, we embark on the bullet train, an incredible engineering achievement that swiftly carries us across the countryside. Throughout the journey, we’ll enjoy the breathtaking views of mount Fuji as we make our way to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Takayama.

Tonight, we’ll stay in a beautiful Japanese temple, offering a unique experience amidst stunning surroundings. We’ll rest on simple tatami mats.

In the evening, we’ll venture out for traditional sake tasting and savor the famously delicious Hida beef.

Day 6

Takayama & Gion in Kyoto

Takayama - Nagoya - Kyoto. In the morning, our guide will lead us on a tour of the picturesque old town and village of Takayama. After a leisurely lunch (not included), we’ll board the train back to Nagoya before taking our final bullet train journey to Kyoto.

Kyoto is a city steeped in history, known for its stunning shrines, ancient temples, and the iconic Geishas. It offers a wonderful opportunity for us to find a sense of calm as we wander through its charming, narrow alleyways.

In the evening, we’ll take a gentle stroll through the famous Gion district, celebrated for its traditional Geisha performances. If luck is on your side, you may even catch a glimpse of a Geisha in her elegant attire, adding a touch of magic to your evening.

Day 7

Fushimi-Inari Shrine & Kiyomizu-Dera Temple

We’ll start our day early, taking the subway to Fushimi-Inari Shrine to arrive before the crowds. Wandering through the endless red torii gates, we’ll soak in the serene beauty of this iconic mountain path.

Next, we’ll visit Kiyomizu-Dera, one of Japan’s most celebrated temples. Perched on the mountainside, its impressive bamboo and wooden structure offers stunning views and a glimpse into Japan’s history. We’ll participate in a traditional ceremony here before spending the afternoon exploring Kyoto at your leisure. Alternatively, you can opt to visit Nishiki Market, or you could enjoy a Geisha performance.

Day 8

Golden Pavilion & Kendo Experience

This morning, we will visit the magnificent Golden Pavilion, a stunning gold-adorned structure surrounded by tranquil lakes that perfectly reflect its beauty. Afterwards, we'll make our way to Daitoku-Ji, a peaceful complex of temples and buildings nestled away from the main tourist areas. This serene spot offers the perfect environment to unwind and connect with Kyoto's history. You will have time to explore at your own pace, maybe opt to visit the Heian Shrine or you can explore at your own pace.

In the afternoon, we’ll attend a traditional Kendo class at the dojo where this martial art originated. Your instructor, a genuine descendant of a Japanese Samurai Warrior, will guide you through the disciplined and respectful practice of Bushido. .

Day 9

Arashiyama & Osaka Food Tour

Kyoto - Osaka. In the morning, we'll avoid the crowds and catch the train to the Arashiyama district. Nestled among mountainous valleys with a river winding through it, this beautiful area offers plenty to explore. We'll begin by strolling through the picturesque bamboo forest, then hike up to Monkey Mountain. After descending, we'll board a private rowboat to explore the valleys in the traditional Japanese way.

Following this, we'll return to our hostel to check out and head to Osaka. Once we've checked in, we'll venture into the Dotonbori district for a food tour. There's no better way to experience this vibrant city than by sampling its culinary delights. After you will have some free time to join an optional Osaka Canal Boat Tour at an additional fee.

In the evening, we'll conclude our tour with a quintessential Japanese tradition—Karaoke! If you would prefer to spend more time singing you can opt to extend your karaoke adventure.

Goodbye Osaka

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to your group and the new friends you've made. We wish you a safe and pleasant onward journey!
