Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival, we will arrange a comfortable transfer to the hotel, allowing you some free time to settle in. In the afternoon, you will receive all the necessary information about the start of your tour. This will be provided either in person or through the information signs located at the hotel reception. Madrid, with its vibrant culture and history, offers you the perfect setting to unwind and prepare for your upcoming adventure. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
Today, we set off on a panoramic tour of Madrid, offering you an immersive introduction to this vibrant city. We'll explore the bustling city centre and admire the majestic Plaza Mayor, alongside Madrid's impressive avenues and fountains. Our journey continues with a leisurely walk through the serene Retiro Park, a green sanctuary in the city, celebrated for its elegant fountains and lush gardens. We will also visit the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, home to the esteemed Real Madrid football club. Your afternoon is at leisure, providing you with an opportunity to dive deeper into Madrid's cultural treasures or relax at your own pace. In the evening, we arrange a transfer to Plaza Mayor, where you can soak up the lively atmosphere.
Day 3 - Madrid - San Sebastian - Bordeaux
Following breakfast, we will embark on a journey through the regions of Castile and the Basque Country. Upon arriving in San Sebastián, you have the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful La Concha beach and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine in the charming old quarter. You'll also have some free time to find a spot for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue our travels, crossing the border into France, where we will reach Bordeaux by the evening. Once you settle in, we suggest taking a pleasant walk through the city centre to soak in its atmosphere.
Day 4 - Bordeaux - Chambord - Paris
On day four, we'll travel through the renowned wine and cognac regions straight into the heart of the picturesque Loire Valley. Our primary stop will be at the exquisite Ch?teau de Chambord, noted for being one of the most impressive castles in the area. Your admission to this magnificent architectural marvel is included. Following this, you will have some free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure. Later in the day, we will continue our journey to Paris, where we will arrive in the evening, ready to explore the vibrant city.
Day 5 - Paris
We will delve into France's rich heritage with a visit to the majestic Palace of Versailles, celebrated worldwide for its stunning gardens and opulent architecture. Please note that entry to the palace is not included, giving you the flexibility to explore at your own pace. Upon returning to Paris, we'll explore Montmartre, the bohemian heart of the city renowned for its artistic ambience and historic cabarets. To gain a deeper appreciation of Paris's splendour, we'll embark on a guided panoramic tour, showcasing the city's magnificent avenues and iconic landmarks. Following the tour, we’ll return to our hotel. In the evening, you may wish to attend an optional variety show to experience the vibrancy of Parisian nightlife.
Day 6 - Paris - Rouen
Our adventure in Paris begins with a trip to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where we'll ascend to the second floor and take in the breathtaking views of the city (tickets included). Following this, we'll embark on a relaxing cruise along the Seine. The afternoon is yours to explore Paris at your leisure, allowing you to discover hidden gems or revisit favourite spots. At 4:00 p.m., we'll depart for Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Once there, you'll have time to wander the ancient streets, filled with charming medieval architecture and crowned by a stunning Gothic cathedral. Rouen, a city rich in history dating back to Roman times, offers a delightful blend of the past and present. Please note, if wait times at the Eiffel Tower are lengthy, we may need to reschedule our visit for another time that ensures convenience and enjoyment.
Day 7 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, you can explore the centre of Rouen at a leisurely pace. After this, we will set off towards northern France, where we will board a ferry to cross the English Channel. On arrival in Canterbury, we’ll discover its charming historic centre. Our journey continues to London, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy some free time in the Tower Bridge area – one of the most recognisable symbols of the city – before we head to our hotel.
Day 8 - London
Explore the vibrant city of London with a comprehensive panoramic tour led by a local expert. We'll guide you through the rich tapestry of the city's culture and history, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. If the timing is right, you might even witness the famed Changing of the Guard. In the evening, we'll regroup in Piccadilly for a leisurely stroll through the energetic districts of Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho, known for their dynamic atmosphere, theatres, and entertainment offerings. With a variety of dining options available, you'll have the chance to savour a delightful dinner before we return to the hotel.
Day 9 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
We begin our morning with a visit to the prestigious British Museum, one of the oldest museums globally, where we explore artefacts from numerous cultures across the world. Following this cultural immersion, you have some leisure time to enjoy lunch before a visit to Camden. This district is famous for its vibrant and eclectic street market, offering an array of unique items and culinary delights from around the globe. Around 4:00 p.m., we make our way to Colchester, historically recognised as the oldest recorded town in England. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its charming historic streets before we proceed to Harwich to board the ferry for an overnight voyage to the Netherlands. You'll be accommodated in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note: due to the limited number of cabins, we may need to alter the travel plan. This could involve taking a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp or alternatively, a train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 10 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
We disembark from our overnight ferry voyage at the Hoek van Holland around eight in the morning, welcoming our arrival in the Netherlands. Our first destination is Volendam, a quaint and picturesque fishing village that captures the charm of traditional Dutch life. After immersing ourselves in the village's serene beauty, we proceed to Amsterdam.In Amsterdam, we embark on a guided tour of the city, giving you a chance to experience its iconic highlights. We'll admire the classic image of a traditional windmill and pause at the Rembrandt statue. We explore the contemporary architecture of the South District before delving into the centuries-old art of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Concluding our bus tour, we venture into the heart of Amsterdam on foot, where you can soak up the city's vibrant atmosphere at your leisure. This free time allows you to explore further, perhaps visiting a local café or enjoying a canal-side stroll. Our day ends on a note of personal discovery amidst this enchanting city.
Day 11 - Amsterdam - Hamelin - Berlin
Departing from Amsterdam, we journey towards Germany, with our first stop in the enchanting town of Hamelin. This picturesque German locale conjures the magical tales of the Pied Piper by the Brothers Grimm and invites you to explore its charming shops and reminiscent streets. Continuing our adventure, we travel through Marienborn, a historical site once marking the division between East and West Germany until reunification in 1990. Our day concludes as we arrive in Berlin in the evening, ready to explore the vibrant atmosphere of Germany's capital.
Day 12 - Berlin
On day 12, you'll delve into the vibrant history and culture of Berlin, Germany's remarkable capital. A local guide will accompany us on a city tour, where you'll comfortably observe key sights from our coach. Marvel at the Museum Island, where several prominent museums stand, and glimpse the iconic Television Tower and bustling city centre. We'll pass through the main shopping streets and see the old cathedral, a testament to the city's resilience after being destroyed in World War II. Our journey continues to the historically significant Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. The city's expansive parks offer a lush contrast to its urban landscape. We will make a poignant stop at two significant memorials: the Holocaust Memorial, honouring the victims of the Holocaust, and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, a stark reminder of the city's division during the Cold War. After the morning tour, you will have the afternoon to explore Berlin at your own pace, soaking in its rich culture and history. As evening approaches, we'll offer a transfer to the vibrant Kantstrasse area, perfect for enjoying the local nightlife or dining options.
Day 13 - Berlin - Dresden - Prague
As we leave Berlin, we travel through lush forests towards Dresden, a city famed for its extraordinary architectural and artistic legacy. You'll have the chance to explore some of its stunning palaces at your leisure and savour lunch in one of the many inviting restaurants and coffee shops scattered throughout the city, which is a highlight for travellers in Germany. In the afternoon, we continue our journey to the Czech Republic, arriving in the enchanting city of Prague. Upon reaching Prague, we proceed to the Old Town Square, a lively hub brimming with activities—a perfect spot to begin your adventure in this historical city. Here, you'll find a variety of dining options with cuisine ranging from Czech to international flavours such as Chinese, Indian, and Italian. After indulging in a pleasant meal, we head back to the hotel for a restful night.
Day 14 - Prague
Today, we explore the captivating capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, often celebrated as the Baroque jewel of Europe. Our day begins with an insightful panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide, who will introduce us to the city's remarkable landmarks. We will visit the impressive Prague Castle, with the cost of admission included. Following the castle visit, enjoy a leisurely boat ride along the picturesque Vltava River, also included in the day's itinerary. The afternoon is yours to discover Prague at your own pace, with free time to wander its charming streets, visit local attractions, or simply relax and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
