Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! Upon your arrival at the airport, we will ensure your seamless transfer to the hotel. Enjoy some leisure time before the official start of your tour. For information regarding the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers, please check the display signs in the hotel reception area.This evening, we will transport you to Plaza Mayor and La Latina, a vibrant hub known for its nightlife and delightful tapas restaurants. Here, you can choose to dine at a restaurant of your preference, with a range of options from Indian, Chinese, and Spanish to Middle Eastern cuisines. Have a wonderful first night in Madrid! Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
On the second day in Madrid, we embark on a comprehensive tour of the city's vibrant centre. Our exploration includes iconic landmarks such as the grand Paseo del Prado, the impressive fountains of Cibeles and Neptuno, the historic Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and the bustling Plaza Mayor. Following this, we visit the serene Retiro Park to admire its tranquil lake and the striking Palacio de Cristal. Admission is included for a visit to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the hallowed home of Real Madrid, celebrated as one of the greatest football clubs globally. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, providing the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself further in the city's rich culture or simply relax. In the evening, we provide a transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
We'll set off from Madrid in the morning, venturing into the historic region of Aragon, enjoying the scenic landscapes of Castile along the way. Our journey’s first stop is Zaragoza, where you'll have the chance to admire the magnificent Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, renowned for its baroque architecture. Our next destination is Poblet, where we'll explore the tranquil Poblet Abbey, a remarkably well-preserved medieval monastery, with admission tickets included. After experiencing the serenity of the abbey, we’ll continue our travels, arriving in the vibrant city of Barcelona by evening.
Day 4 - Barcelona - Girona
Our fourth day begins with a captivating tour of Barcelona, often referred to as the City of Counts. Positioned alongside the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona seamlessly blends vibrant modernist architecture, most famously by Antoni Gaudí, with its bustling and colourful Ramblas. The city is steeped in rich history, having hosted grand events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics, solidifying its reputation as one of Europe's most enthralling capitals. Later in the day, we will depart Barcelona, heading northwards into the Catalonian region. Our evening plan involves a leisurely stroll through Girona's historic centre, celebrated for its lively, colourful houses, the atmospheric old Jewish quarter, and the stately cathedral that towers over the city. You’ll have time to soak in the unique charm of Girona before we go to our hotel for the night.
Day 5 - Girona - Carrieres des Lumieres - Chambery
Today's adventure begins in Girona. We set off towards France, traversing the idyllic landscapes of Provence. Our first stop is the charming city of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its Roman architecture and its connection to Vincent van Gogh. Here, you have the opportunity to explore the Roman theatre and stroll past quaint Romanesque churches, where you can also enjoy a leisurely lunch.Continuing our journey, we visit Carrières des Lumières – an extraordinary underground art experience nestled within an ancient quarry. You'll be entranced by a mesmerising blend of art, imagery, and sound. Please note, if tickets for Carrières des Lumières are unavailable due to demand, we shall visit the iconic Pont du Gard aqueduct instead.In the evening, we arrive in Chambéry, the picturesque capital of the Savoy region. This medieval city boasts a captivating historical centre, complete with a grand castle, perfect for an enchanting evening stroll.
Day 6 - Chambery - Geneva - Gruyeres - Leysin
We set off for Switzerland, with our first stop in Geneva. Accompanied by our guide, we'll begin with a visit to the Palais des Nations, the European headquarters of the United Nations. Here, we take in the city's stunning landmarks, including the English Garden with its famous flower clock and the towering Jet d’Eau, the tallest fountain in Europe. Our journey continues to the quaint, walled village of Gruyères, internationally renowned for its cheese. Nearby, you'll find some of Switzerland's premier chocolate factories, including Nestlé, and admission to the Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory is included, allowing you to savour a delightful tasting session.Afterwards, we'll travel along picturesque routes through serene mountain landscapes and charming wooden villages until we arrive at Chillon Castle. Situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, this castle is a must-see (admission is included). By mid-afternoon, we'll arrive in Leysin, a delightful holiday village offering breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley and Mont Blanc. Known for its winter sports facilities and hiking trails, Leysin provides an idyllic setting for relaxation. Dinner will be provided. Please note that due to availability, we may arrange accommodation in another quaint Swiss Alpine town such as Martigny.
Day 7 - Leysin - Interlaken - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, prepare to be awed by Switzerland's breathtaking mountain landscapes. We embark on an exhilarating cable car ride to Glacier 3000, a spectacular Swiss location famous for its year-round snow and ice. Here, you have the unique opportunity to cross the suspended bridge linking two mountain peaks, venture into the magical Ice Cathedral, or have some fun at the park. Our journey continues with a stop in the quaint town of Interlaken, where we pause for lunch amidst stunning alpine views. We then proceed to Lucerne, celebrated as one of Switzerland's most picturesque cities. Our day concludes in Zurich, providing a chance to stroll through its lively city centre before settling in at the hotel. Please note, if the Glacier 3000 cable car is closed due to adverse weather or unforeseen events, we will ensure an equally stunning alpine alternative is arranged.
Day 8 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We set off from Zurich early in the morning to cross the magnificent Alps into the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Our first stop is the historic city of Bellinzona, where you’ll find three medieval castles, designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These fortresses, perched dramatically on the hillside, underscore Bellinzona's strategic importance in the past as a significant alpine stronghold. You’ll have free time to explore the picturesque streets at your own pace. Our journey continues into Italy, where we pause for lunch in the enchanting town of Como. Known as the jewel of Lombardy, Como boasts beautiful lakeside gardens and an impressive cathedral. Following lunch, we proceed to Milan. Here, our guide will lead us to the iconic Piazza del Duomo, where you'll have a chance to explore and soak up the vibrant atmosphere before we transfer you to your hotel.
Day 9 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
Our day begins in Milan, from where we journey onward to Pisa. Upon arrival, we'll hop on a quaint tourist train to reach the Piazza dei Miracoli, also known as the Square of Miracles. Here, you'll have the opportunity to take in the splendour of one of Italy's most remarkable art complexes, which is home to the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. Following our exploration, we continue our journey to Rome, arriving later in the day.
Day 10 - Rome
We will start the day with an exciting three-hour guided exploration of Rome, often referred to as the Eternal City. This tour blends a walking tour of Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus journey, revealing the historic wonders of one of Western civilization’s oldest and most influential cities. Our exploration features renowned sites including the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel Sant’Angelo. By around 11:00 a.m., we aim to conclude the tour at Vatican City, where you may choose to join an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. In the evening, we include a transfer to the charming Trastevere district, renowned for its cosy restaurants and vibrant nightlife. We will return to the hotel at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Day 11 - Rome
Following breakfast, our journey concludes, leaving you with cherished memories of a remarkable adventure.
