Itinerary
Day 1 - Colombo - Bentota
On arrival at Colombo Airport, our representative will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel in Bentota. Once settled into your room, you can enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Bentota was the first National Holiday Resort developed by the Ceylon Tourist Board as a planned destination. The area, along with nearby Beruwela, is well known for water sports including water scooter rides, windsurfing, water skiing and river cruises. Beruwela also offers facilities for deep-sea fishing and wreck and coral reef diving. There are several interesting excursions available from here, such as visiting the Turtle Hatchery, exploring local gardens, or taking boat trips along the Bentota River. Overnight accommodation is in Bentota.
Day 2 - Bentota
After breakfast, spend the day at leisure either relaxing at the hotel or exploring the beautiful southern coastline. Bentota offers a tranquil setting to unwind, with opportunities to enjoy the beach or take part in optional water activities nearby. Overnight in Bentota.
Day 3 - Bentota - Kosgoda - Weligama
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Kosgoda to visit the turtle hatchery. Here, we will see five species of turtles – Green, Hawksbill, Loggerhead, Leatherback and Olive Ridley. The hatchery purchases eggs collected by local villagers and fishermen, incubating them in sandy pens until they hatch. The young turtles are then cared for in seawater tanks before being released into the sea at night. This hatchery has successfully released over 1,750,000 turtles, established with support from the Hasselblad Estate. Afterwards, we transfer to Weligama to witness the traditional practice of stilt fishing. Originating during World War II as a response to food shortages and crowded fishing areas, fishermen perch on stilts embedded in coral reefs to fish at dawn and dusk along the southern coast. Overnight in Weligama.
Day 4 - Weligama
After breakfast, we transfer to Mirissa for a whale-watching excursion. Mirissa’s coast enjoys warm, sunny weather year-round, with calm, clear waters and white sandy beaches—ideal conditions for spotting whales and other marine life. You will have the opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat before returning to your hotel in Weligama for the night.
Day 5 - Weligama - Galle - Colombo
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Galle for a city tour. Explore the Dutch Fort, where European architecture blends with South Asian influences, reflecting over three and a half centuries of history. We walk clockwise around the fort’s ramparts, passing the old gate adorned with the British coat of arms, the Zwart Bastion—the oldest bastion—and the 18-foot lighthouse beside Point Utrecht Bastion. The fort’s streets follow a rectangular grid, lined with houses featuring Dutch colonial verandas. Visit the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex, offering a variety of souvenirs. The fort remains a vibrant community with administrative offices, courts, churches and local residents maintaining its lively atmosphere. After the tour, transfer to Colombo for your overnight stay.
Day 6 - Colombo
After breakfast, we transfer you to Colombo Airport for your departure flight, concluding your journey.
