Itinerary
Day 1 - Stockholm
Welcome to Stockholm. We’ll transfer you to your hotel and you’ll have time to settle in. In the afternoon we’ll share practical information – either in person or via the notice board at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Stockholm - Mora
After breakfast we’ll tour this capital of 14 islands, with Gamla Stan – the City between the Bridges – its heart. We’ll see Stortorget with the Nobel Museum, the Cathedral and the Royal Palace, and take in the view from Fjällgatan. You’ll then have free time. Around 16:00 we’ll drive northwest through rolling countryside, small towns and lakes, reaching Mora in the evening – a small city between two lakes where Gustav I rallied support in 1521 against Danish rule.
Day 3 - Mora - Funäsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
We’ll set off early for Norway through forests, lakes and mountains, pausing in Funäsdalen, a noted ski resort. We’ll continue to Røros for lunch and time to wander this World Heritage mining town with its historic centre, old miners’ houses and a museum of the former foundry. We’ll then travel on to Trondheim on the central coast, a city with Viking roots and a medieval capital, where we’ll see the 11th–century cathedral and the iconic old bridge over the canal; this evening you can sample the lively dining scene.
Day 4 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
After time to explore central Trondheim, we’ll follow the fjord–indented coastline – crossing one fjord by ferry – to Kristiansund, a traditional fishing city spread over several islands linked by bridges and causeways. We’ll stroll the centre and stop for lunch. Later we’ll visit Kvernes Stave Church – a 14th–century gem with a remarkable ship model some 300 years old and altarpieces dedicated to the Virgin Mary – before driving the famed Atlantic Road, which leaps across eight bridges between islets. We’ll pause at a viewpoint, then continue to Molde by evening.
Day 5 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
We’ll enjoy a day of outstanding scenery – a World Heritage fjord, glaciers and charming towns. We’ll begin with a 50–minute crossing of the Romsdal Fjord, climb into snowy mountains and descend to Storfjorden. Another ferry of about 30 minutes carries us past snow–capped peaks to the Eagle Viewpoint above Geiranger Fjord, one of Norway’s most striking vistas. In Geiranger you’ll have free time – perhaps take a boat along the fjord, stroll beside the waterfalls or simply relax in the village. After lunch we’ll continue to Briksdalsbreen, an impressive glacier with time for the walk from the base to the ice on foot or by electric vehicle if you prefer. Dinner is included, and we’ll overnight in Loen by the fjord – you can opt to ride one of the steepest cable cars in the world from the water to more than 1,000 metres.
Day 6 - Loen - Bergen
We’ll depart early for Bergen, covering just under 300 km of inspiring scenery along fjord shores and over mountains, including a scenic ferry crossing. We’ll arrive around lunchtime and ride the Fløyen cable car for superb city views. Afterwards you’ll have free time to explore Norway’s second city – wander Bryggen, the historic dock district of colourful wooden buildings on the World Heritage List, or visit the aquarium and the lively fish market.
Day 7 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
We’ll leave Bergen early and head into the heart of Norway, crossing the striking suspension bridge over Hardanger Fjord. We’ll pause in Eidfjord on the water’s edge, then visit Voringfossen – often cited as Norway’s most spectacular waterfall with a 182–metre drop – and explore the viewpoints and bridges for sweeping views. We’ll continue across stark high plateaus dotted with small lakes and snowfields to Geilo for lunch, then travel on to Oslo, arriving in the evening – you might like to explore the lively centre, stroll the historic harbour and step onto the rooftop of the modern Opera House.
Day 8 - Oslo - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry
In the morning we’ll take a panoramic tour of Oslo – a green capital framed by striking landscapes. With a local guide we’ll pass the Royal Palace, pause in Frogner Park to admire its remarkable sculpture collection, and see the exterior of the Town Hall, the old port and the new Opera House. Afterwards you’ll have free time – perhaps visit a museum. After lunch we’ll board a modern overnight ferry with cruise–style comforts and sail to Denmark, spending the afternoon and night on board with cabin accommodation and breakfast included. Note: the ferry is scheduled to depart at 16:30 – boarding from 15:30 – and arrive in Copenhagen at 10:00. Timings are subject to change.
Day 9 - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry - Copenhagen
We’ll arrive in Copenhagen in the morning and begin a panoramic tour with a local guide. This capital is renowned for quality of life, sustainability and rich culture. By coach and on foot we’ll see the Little Mermaid, Nyhavn’s colourful harbour, the exterior of Amalienborg Palace, City Hall Square and the Tivoli area. The afternoon is free for you to explore.
Day 10 - Copenhagen
After breakfast our journey comes to an end – we hope you leave with wonderful memories.
