Swiss Serenity to Roman Splendour
New
Begin in Zurich and end in Rome on a sweep through Switzerland and Italy over seven days. Settle into Zurich, then explore the city and cruise Lake Zurich to Rapperswil. Head into the Alps – think Grindelwald views, a cable car ride and a walkway – before time in Lucerne. Cross into Italian speaking Switzerland for Bellinzona’s trio of castles, then slip by Lake Como to Milan’s Duomo. Continue to Pisa – the Leaning Tower steals the show – and on to Rome. A guided tour covers Colosseum exterior, Imperial Forums and Vatican area, with a Trastevere evening to finish.

Welcome to Zurich. We transfer you to your hotel, and you have free time to settle in. In the afternoon we provide practical information – either in person or via the information board at reception.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Zurich
With our guide, we explore Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city and a cultural and financial hub. We then enjoy a scenic cruise of almost two hours on Lake Zurich with brief stops at lakeside villages, disembarking in Rapperswil – renowned for its medieval castle. We return to Zurich by train to sample Swiss rail efficiency. Depending on group size, transfers to and from the centre may be by public transport.
Day 3 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
We journey into the Interlaken region for superb alpine scenery of peaks and pristine lakes. Our first stop is Grindelwald for a coffee break before we ride the cable car up the mountain. At the top we follow a winding path to a suspended bridge – you may choose to cross for striking glacier views. We include lunch on the mountain, then descend and continue to Lucerne, where you have time to explore, before returning to Zurich. Your guide may offer an optional full day excursion starting this morning – after some free time in Lucerne, you can take the rotating cable car to the summit of Mount Titlis, over 3,000 metres, for sweeping views of the glacier and the Alps.
Day 4 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We leave Zurich early, crossing the Alps into Switzerland’s Italian–speaking region to reach Bellinzona, renowned for its three medieval castles – UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You have free time to stroll the historic centre. We then enter Italy and stop in Como for lunch, a lakeside gem known for elegant gardens and a striking cathedral. We continue to Milan, where our guide leads us to the magnificent Piazza del Duomo – you have a little time to wander before we transfer you to the hotel.
Day 5 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
We travel to Pisa and board the little tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli – you have time to admire one of Italy’s most captivating ensembles, including the famous Leaning Tower. We then continue to Rome, arriving later in the day.
Day 6 - Rome
This morning we take a three hour guided tour of the Eternal City, combining a walking exploration of Imperial Rome with a panoramic coach circuit. We view the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius and Castel Sant’Angelo. The tour ends at Vatican City around 11:00 – afterwards your guide may offer an optional visit and you can explore the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. In the evening we include a transfer to lively Trastevere for its cosy restaurants and vibrant atmosphere – the return to the hotel is around 8:30 p.m.
Day 7 - Rome
After breakfast our journey comes to an end – we hope you depart with wonderful lasting memories.
