Day 1 - London
Upon your arrival in London, we'll take care of your transfer to the hotel, allowing you some leisure time to settle in or begin exploring the city at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, please check the hotel reception boards for essential information regarding the start of your tour. Enjoy your first taste of London, whether it's a stroll through the lively streets or a moment to relax and recharge. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - London
Our second day in London begins with a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide. Together, we will delve into the rich tapestry of London's culture and history, visiting iconic landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, and Buckingham Palace. Depending on the timing of our visit, you may even witness the renowned Changing of the Guard. As evening descends, we'll convene at a designated spot in Piccadilly for a leisurely stroll through vibrant Leicester Square, the eclectic streets of Chinatown, and the energetic district of Soho. These areas are famous for their theatres and entertainment, offering a plethora of dining options where you can savour a delightful dinner. As the day draws to a close, we'll head back to the hotel to rest and recharge for the adventures ahead.
Day 3 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
On the third day, we’ll leave London behind as we venture into the beautiful landscapes of northern England. Our journey begins with a visit to Cambridge, famed for its picturesque colleges and storied academic history. After a leisurely lunch, we continue to York, a city where ancient Roman walls, a magnificent cathedral, and vibrant shopping streets await your exploration. You'll have some free time to wander and soak up the unique charm of York. Our day concludes with a drive to Durham, a medieval town where the grand cathedral proudly faces the historic castle, offering a glimpse into England's rich heritage.
Day 4 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
As we set off for Scotland, we'll first make a stop in Alnwick, famed for its expansive medieval castle and enchanting gardens, notably featured in the Harry Potter films. Our journey continues as we head to Edinburgh, where we plan to arrive around midday. Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, ranks as one of Northern Europe's most dynamic cities and boasts a stunning centre that's recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overlooking the city from its hilltop, the majestic Edinburgh Castle offers spectacular views. We'll explore the city in a panoramic tour guided by a local expert, giving you a deeper insight into the history and charm of this vibrant city.
Day 5 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
Today, our adventure takes us deep into the heart of the Scottish Highlands. We begin with a leisurely morning coffee and stroll in the charming village of Pitlochry, a place renowned for its quaint appeal and traditional whisky production. Next, we'll head towards Inverness, passing close to the legendary Loch Ness. Here, we have the opportunity to explore the intriguing Urquhart Castle, where entry is included, and embark on a scenic boat journey across the mysterious waters of Loch Ness.Our journey continues as we pass through Fort Augustus, notable for its intriguing sluice system, and Fort William, a bustling tourist hub at the base of Ben Nevis—the tallest peak in the UK. As we head south, we'll traverse the stunning high plateaus, often dusted with snow, and enjoy views along the picturesque banks of Loch Lomond. We conclude our day's journey with our arrival in Glasgow in the evening.Please note that itineraries are adjusted for groups visiting from 15th November to the end of February due to shorter daylight hours and variable road conditions. Departure from Edinburgh at 08:00 starts with a stop in Pitlochry, including a whisky distillery visit, then on to Stirling for its historic castle. We'll capture the majestic Kelpies sculptures before reaching Glasgow around 17:00, where there's time to explore the vibrant city centre.
Day 6 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
Departing Glasgow, we travel south through Scotland to Cairnryan, where we'll board a ferry crossing to Northern Ireland. Arriving in Belfast, you'll discover a city renowned for its impressive architecture and a history of resilience amid complex religious conflicts. As we continue our journey into the Republic of Ireland, we head onward to Dublin, with our arrival scheduled for the end of the day. Take this opportunity to unwind and anticipate the adventures that await in this vibrant capital.
Day 7 - Dublin
Upon reaching Dublin, we embark on a panoramic tour of Ireland's serene capital. We stroll along the picturesque banks of the River Liffey, taking in the city's verdant parks and bustling central streets. We'll make a stop to view the exterior of the historic Trinity College, renowned for its centuries-old educational heritage. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore Dublin at your own pace – discover its vibrant pubs, delve into its rich literary history, or simply enjoy the charming local atmosphere. Please note that, depending on our arrival time and available daylight, this tour may sometimes occur the previous afternoon.
Day 8 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
In the morning, we embark on a scenic ferry journey, which takes approximately three to three and a half hours, from Ireland to Wales. Our first stop is the coastal World Heritage Site of Caernarfon, a town renowned for its magnificent castle. Here, you'll have time to enjoy lunch and take a leisurely stroll. Our journey continues to the vibrant city of Liverpool, where we will indulge in a brief bus tour. Liverpool, a World Heritage Site, is home to the second-largest port in the United Kingdom and a rich cultural legacy, including ties to the legendary Beatles. If you're interested, consider visiting The Beatles Museum during your free time.
Day 9 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - Portsmouth - Saint-Malo Ferry
Today, we set off on a journey through southern England, beginning with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon. You will have an opportunity to enjoy lunch and take a leisurely stroll through this charming town, renowned as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Next, we travel to the historic city of Oxford, a renowned centre of education where many influential figures have studied. Our day concludes as we head to Portsmouth to board a modern ferry for an overnight crossing to France. You'll spend the night onboard in comfortable en-suite double cabins with bunk beds. Please note that the itinerary for the overnight crossing may occasionally change due to availability. It's advisable to prepare a carry-on bag for your night on board. Breakfast is not provided during the crossing.
Day 10 - Portsmouth - Saint-Malo Ferry - Mont-Saint-Michel - Saint-Malo - Dinan - Rennes
After we arrive in Normandy, our day begins with a visit to Mont-Saint-Michel, fondly known as "The Wonder." This enchanting island commune, surrounded by the sea, offers plenty of time for you to explore its narrow streets and the impressive abbey that looms overhead. Continuing our journey, we'll head into Brittany to visit Saint-Malo, a city famed for its formidable stone walls. You'll have time to enjoy lunch and perhaps wander the bustling old town. Our next stop is Dinan, a quaint Breton village where we'll indulge in a delightful crepe and a refreshing drink. As we move forward, Rennes awaits us—the capital of Brittany, with its captivating historic centre inviting us for a leisurely exploration.
Day 11 - Rennes - Angers - Tours - Villandry - Amboise
Today, we depart from Rennes and head towards Angers. Those interested have the opportunity to visit the castle here, which boasts the largest medieval tapestry depicting the Apocalypse. Our journey then leads us to the enchanting Loire Valley, where we reach Tours, the capital of the region, beautifully situated along the Loire River. You will have time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we will visit the Ch?teau de Villandry, celebrated for its stunning gardens, to which we have included entry. Our day concludes in the charming town of Amboise, known for its captivating medieval quarter, where dinner is included and accommodation awaits.
Day 12 - Amboise - Chenonceaux - Chambord - Paris
On day twelve, we set out to explore the captivating Loire Valley, a region steeped in history and architectural beauty. Our morning begins with a gentle stroll through Amboise, where you'll find the Ch?teau du Clos Luc?, known as the final residence of Leonardo da Vinci. Continuing our journey through this enchanting area, we visit the iconic Ch?teau de Chenonceau, renowned for its unique design that bridges the river (admission is included). Afterwards, we head to Chambord, famous for being the largest ch?teau in the Loire Valley. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the surrounding parkland. Our day concludes with a drive to Paris, where we will arrive in the evening.
Day 13 - Paris
Today, we delve into the grandeur of French history at the splendid Palace of Versailles. While entry to the palace itself is not included, you'll have the opportunity to explore its magnificent gardens at your leisure, marvelling at the ornate landscapes that surround this iconic royal residence. Upon returning to Paris, we'll immerse ourselves in the unique atmosphere of Montmartre, a lively bohemian quarter renowned for its vibrant art scene, street painters, and legendary cabarets. To truly capture the essence of Paris, we'll embark on a guided panoramic tour, which will take us past impressive avenues and some of the city's most celebrated monuments. After this enriching experience, we'll return to our hotel. For those looking to extend their Parisian adventure, an optional variety show is available this evening.
Day 14 - Paris
Today, we begin our exploration of central Paris with a visit to the illustrious Eiffel Tower. Tickets are included, allowing you the opportunity to ascend to the second floor and enjoy spectacular views of the city. Following this, we take a leisurely one hour and fifteen-minute cruise along the Seine, offering a delightful perspective of Paris from its iconic river. The afternoon is yours to discover the city at your own pace. Perhaps you wish to explore further or enjoy a quiet café in a picturesque neighbourhood. Please note that if lines at the Eiffel Tower are excessively long, we might reschedule our visit to ensure you can enjoy it to the fullest—possibly fitting it in on Sunday instead. Do remember that transfer back to your hotel is not included, so you'll have the flexibility to end your day wherever your Parisian adventure takes you.
Day 15 - Paris
After a leisurely breakfast, we conclude our adventure in Paris. As you reflect on the incredible experiences and sights you've encountered, we hope you carry home wonderful memories to cherish. Safe travels!
