Welcome to your tour in London! Upon arrival, we'll provide complimentary transfers to your hotel. Once settled, you'll have some free time to relax or explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, please refer to the information boards at the hotel reception for details on the tour's commencement. Enjoy your first day in this vibrant city, steeped in history and culture. Day 2 - London
We begin our day with an engaging city tour of London, exploring some of its most iconic landmarks. Our journey takes us through Westminster, notably home to the majestic Houses of Parliament, where Big Ben stands tall, and the serene River Thames, winding through the heart of the city. You'll witness the vibrant atmosphere and rich history of this world-famous city as we traverse the bustling streets of the City of London.The afternoon presents an opportunity to deepen your exploration with some free time. Those interested can opt to join a visit to the charming Thames Valley. This optional excursion includes the delightful town of Windsor, famed for its stunning castle that holds a special place in British history as one of the official residences of the monarch.As evening falls, we gather at lively Piccadilly for a stroll through some of London’s most energetic districts. We'll explore Leicester Square, the bustling heart of London's West End theatre district, before meandering through the cultural diversity of Chinatown. Continuing into Soho, you'll experience the vibrant nightlife and entertainment offerings the area is renowned for. Please note, depending on your arrival time in London, this evening program could take place earlier. Our day concludes as we return to the hotel by bus, reflecting on the sights and experiences of a remarkable day in the capital.
Day 3 - London
Today, you have a full day at leisure to immerse yourself in the unique allure of London. This vibrant city offers countless iconic landmarks, charming neighbourhoods, and cultural treasures for you to uncover. From the historic grandeur of Buckingham Palace and the elegance of Kensington Gardens to the bustling energy of Covent Garden and the modern marvels along the Southbank, London promises a myriad of memorable experiences. Whether you choose to visit world-class museums, enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the Thames, or simply relish the local culinary scene, the day is yours to explore at your own pace.
Day 4 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
On Day 4, we depart bustling London and set our course for the northern landscapes of England. Our first port of call is the historic city of Cambridge, renowned for its stunning collegiate architecture and serene atmosphere. We will take some time to appreciate the magnificent college buildings before heading off for lunch. After our brief respite, we journey onwards to York, a city steeped in history, famed for its impressive Gothic cathedral, ancient Roman walls, and lively shopping streets. You'll have a chance to explore York at your own pace during some free time. As the day progresses, we'll continue our travels northwards to the enchanting medieval town of Durham, where you can marvel at the magnificent cathedral that stands proudly opposite the castle.
Day 5 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
Today, we'll set off towards the enchanting landscapes of Scotland, with our first stop being the quaint town of Alnwick. Known for its exquisite gardens and grand medieval castle, featured in the Harry Potter films, Alnwick offers a touch of cinematic magic amidst historical charm. We will then continue our journey northwards, reaching Edinburgh by midday. The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is a dynamic city, rich in history and cultural heritage. Its historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is dominated by the iconic castle watching over the city’s winding streets and picturesque parks. We’ll have the pleasure of exploring this vibrant city on a panoramic tour led by a knowledgeable local guide, offering insights into the city’s captivating past and present.
Day 6 - Edinburgh
Today is yours to fully immerse yourself in the captivating city of Edinburgh. Take this free day as an opportunity to explore its iconic sights at your own pace. Perhaps start with a walk up the historic Royal Mile, which culminates at the magnificent Edinburgh Castle, offering panoramic views of the city. Wander through the atmospheric streets of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where narrow alleys reveal secret nooks and charming shops. If nature entices you, consider climbing Arthur's Seat for breathtaking vistas over the city and beyond. Indulge in the local culture by visiting one of the many museums or art galleries, or simply relax in the verdant Princes Street Gardens. Day 7 - Edinburgh - The Kelpies - Stirling - Pitlochry - Culloden - Inverness
Today, we embark on a journey from Edinburgh, beginning with a brief stop to capture the grandeur of The Kelpies, the towering sculptures of horse heads, steeped in Scottish mythology, symbolising the majestic power and vitality of horses. Our next destination is Stirling, where the commanding Stirling Castle awaits. It stands tall over its historic centre and has been the backdrop for significant historical events, including notable battles and royal coronations. The entry to this castle is part of our adventure.As we move northwards, we pause in the charming town of Pitlochry, known for its beautiful setting amid the heart of the Scottish region and its whisky production. Lunch and a leisurely stroll are on the agenda here. Continuing our drive north, we'll visit the historic site of Culloden, known for the decisive battle fought in 1746 between the Jacobites and British forces. Although it marked a turning point with a win for the English, it led to sweeping changes that deeply affected Scottish culture and traditions. In the evening, we will reach Inverness, often called the "Capital of the Highlands," with its picturesque castle. We suggest you take a scenic walk along the River Ness and experience the iconic suspension bridge. Please note, depending on the season and available daylight, the visit to Culloden might be rescheduled.
Day 8 - Inverness
Today we embark on an exhilarating journey through the hauntingly beautiful landscapes of northern Scotland. Our first destination is the captivating Eilean Donan Castle, perched on the waters of a fjord—entry is included. We then travel to Fort Augustus, where you can explore the fascinating sluice gate system and enjoy a leisurely lunch break. In the afternoon, we'll venture to the mysterious waters of Loch Ness, where an included boat tour invites you to discover its legendary depths. Our exploration continues with a visit to the medieval Urquhart Castle, offering further insight into Scotland's rich history—admission is covered. Arriving back in Inverness, the vibrant capital of the Highlands sitting at the mouth of Loch Ness, we will delve into the art of whisky-making at a traditional distillery. Here, you'll learn about Scotland's famous national drink, with admission and tasting included. Note that the distillery visit may be scheduled for late Sunday or Monday, depending on ticket availability. We'll stay overnight in Inverness, ensuring you have ample time to soak in the charm of this remarkable region.
Day 9 - Inverness - Fort William - Inveraray - Loch Lomond - Glasgow
Today, we continue our journey through Scotland's breathtaking scenery. Our first stop is Spean Bridge, where we will visit a poignant monument commemorating the Second World War. We then make our way to Fort William, nestled at the base of Ben Nevis, the tallest peak in the United Kingdom. Its charming setting makes it a popular spot for visitors. As we travel onwards, we'll pass by the atmospheric ruins of Kilchurn Castle, beautifully situated by a dark, serene lake. Our next destination is Inveraray, a picturesque historic village on the banks of Loch Fyne. It is well known for its grand castle and peaceful streets, where you will have time to enjoy lunch. Afterwards, our journey takes us along the scenic shores of Loch Lomond. We will arrive in the vibrant city of Glasgow in the evening, where you will have the opportunity to explore the lively city centre.
Day 10 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
We will depart Glasgow for southern Scotland to board a ferry at Cairnryan, offering a gentle crossing to Northern Ireland. Our destination is Belfast, the vibrant capital known for its cultural renaissance and significant history. This city has successfully emerged from its past conflicts and now stands as a testimonial to resilience and progress. Continuing our journey, we will head into Eire, passing stunning landscapes en route to Dublin, where we aim to arrive by day's end.
Day 11 - Dublin
Today, we begin with a panoramic tour of Dublin, the tranquil capital of Ireland. Our journey will take us along the banks of the River Liffey, allowing us to explore the city's parks, historic university, and lively downtown streets. We'll admire the exterior of Trinity College, one of Ireland's most prestigious educational institutions. Once the morning's activities are concluded, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your leisure, providing you the perfect opportunity to uncover more of Dublin's charm at your own pace. Please note that, on occasion, the tour may be rescheduled to the previous afternoon, depending on our arrival time in Dublin and the daylight hours.
Day 12 - Dublin - Powerscourt - Kilkenny - Cashel - Cork
We depart from Dublin for a visit to the exquisite Powerscourt Gardens, which are just a short distance away. Created in the 18th century, these gardens are famed as the finest in Ireland – their stunning array of fountains, Japanese Gardens, and even a unique pet cemetery are all part of the experience (admission included). After our morning exploration, we journey to Kilkenny, where you'll have some time to savour lunch and wander about this lively town, renowned for its medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere. As we continue south, we'll pause at the legendary Rock of Cashel, a striking medieval fortress that stands as a symbol of Ireland's historical resistance against England. Our day concludes in Cork, where we'll arrive in the evening, leaving you time to enjoy a stroll around Ireland’s second-largest city. Dinner is included as we reflect on the day's adventures.
Day 13 - Cork - Kinsale - Killarney - Limerick
Today, we embark on a journey to the charming seaside town of Kinsale. Our first stop is Charles Fort, where you can admire breathtaking ocean views from this 17th-century fortress. In Kinsale, considered one of Ireland's most picturesque coastal towns, you'll have time to explore the historic centre and perhaps enjoy a leisurely lunch. We then continue to Killarney, a beloved tourist destination in the heart of Ireland. Spend some time discovering the town at your own pace before we whisk you away on a delightful Jaunting Car Tour through the National Park. This charming horse-drawn tour meanders through gardens and along the lake, offering stunning views of Ross Castle. The day wouldn’t be complete without a short cruise on the lake to fully appreciate its scenic beauty. Before reaching Limerick, we make a brief stop in Adare, renowned for its quaint stone and thatched-roof cottages and the ruins of a historic abbey. Day 14 - Limerick - Cliffs of Moher - Galway
Today, we delve into the historical richness of Ireland with a visit to Bunratty Folk Park, where you'll step back in time to experience traditional Irish life, complete with authentic cottages and bustling old markets. This park, which also features a well-preserved castle evoking medieval life, offers a fascinating glimpse into Ireland's past. Our next stop is Caherconnell, to see the ancient Poulnabrone Dolmen. Here, if we're fortunate, we'll witness a display of sheep herding by skilled dogs—a true testament to local traditions. We then marvel at the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, rising majestically over the Atlantic Ocean, where you might choose to stroll up to O'Brien's Tower for panoramic views. Day 15 - Galway - Clonmacnoise - Dublin
Today, we depart from Galway and head to Cong, a picturesque village nestled in a stunning lake district. Here, we will visit the ruins of the Royal Abbey and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the magnificent Ashford Castle, a medieval structure now transformed into a luxury hotel. After absorbing the beauty and history of this unique area, we continue our journey to Clonmacnoise. Day 16 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
We embark on our day with an early morning ferry crossing, taking approximately three to three and a half hours, to reach the captivating landscapes of Wales. Our exploration begins in Caernarfon, renowned for its coastal beauty and illustrious World Heritage-listed castle. Here, you will have some time to enjoy lunch and explore the charming surroundings. Our journey then carries us onward to the vibrant city of Liverpool. Once there, we'll embark on a brief bus tour to acquaint you with this lively city, a World Heritage Site and the UK’s second-largest port. If you're a Beatles fan, you might want to consider a visit to The Beatles Museum, a perfect way to delve into the musical heritage of this iconic band.
Day 17 - Liverpool - Chester - Lichfield - Birmingham
After breakfast in Liverpool, we head to the charming town of Chester, nestled on the Welsh border. Here, you'll find a delightful blend of history and architecture, with its well-preserved Roman amphitheatre and imposing medieval walls. Take some time to wander through the city's enchanting streets at your own pace. Our journey then takes us to the picturesque town of Lichfield, known for its quaint cobbled streets and historical ambience. Don't miss the magnificent medieval cathedral with its three soaring spires, capturing the timeless spirit of this small town. After a leisurely lunch, we'll continue to Birmingham, the UK's second-largest city, once a powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution. For those interested, you can explore the house where he was born. From here, our travels take us through a scenic region dotted with quaint villages, arriving at Stow-on-the-Wold. This charming village, with its picturesque stone houses and inviting square, is home to art galleries and antique shops. Continuing onwards, we reach Gloucester. Here, you will have time to savour lunch at the bustling docks and wander through the historic centre, noted for its magnificent cathedral where certain Harry Potter films were shot. Day 19 - Bath - Stonehenge - Salisbury - London
We begin the day in the historic city of Bath, where you have the option to explore its renowned Roman baths if you choose to do so. Our journey then leads us through the picturesque landscapes of southern England, with an included visit to Stonehenge. This iconic prehistoric site, with its enigmatic circle of stones, continues to captivate and intrigue visitors with its ancient secrets. After this, we make our way to the medieval town of Salisbury. Here, you’ll have time to enjoy lunch amidst its charming streets before we proceed to visit its striking cathedral, renowned for having the tallest spire in England—admission is included. We’ll return to London by the end of the day, concluding another memorable chapter of our tour.
