You’ll arrive in Changsha and have time to soak up the city’s unique vibe before exploring Orange Isle – the world’s longest inland river isle – and visiting the Hunan Provincial Museum to dive into the region’s heritage. Itinerary
Day 1 - Changsha
Upon arrival at Changsha airport or railway station, please provide your arrival details in advance so we can arrange your pick-up. An English-speaking guide will meet you and accompany you on a private transfer to your hotel in Changsha, which takes approximately 40 minutes. After settling in, you may choose to relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities or, if you prefer, take a stroll through the city’s vibrant streets to experience its distinctive atmosphere. Overnight in Changsha.
Day 2 - Changsha
After breakfast, we will collect you from the hotel lobby at 9:00 for a full-day excursion to Orange Isle. This is the world’s longest inland river island, linking Mount Yuelu to the west with downtown Changsha to the east. We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the Hunan Provincial Museum, where you will learn about the rich cultural heritage of Hunan Province. We will return to the hotel at around 17:00, leaving you the evening free to explore Changsha at your leisure.
Day 3 - Changsha
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at leisure in Changsha. Immerse yourself in the city’s rich history and the legacy of China’s ancient dynasties at your own pace. Alternatively, you may choose one of the following optional full-day tours. The first option explores Hunan’s educational heritage with visits to Hunan First Normal College—where Mao Zedong once lived and studied—and Yuelu Academy, set on Yuelu Mountain, a historic centre of learning. The second option is a trip to Shaoshan, a key site of revolutionary history and Mao’s birthplace, where you can visit his former home and gain insight into his early life. The third option takes you to Yueyang, south of the Yangtze River, to explore the city’s historic Yueyang Tower, Bianhe Street with its traditional pavilions, and scenic gardens and temples by Dongting Lake. Each tour concludes around 17:00, returning you to Changsha for an overnight stay.
Day 4 - Changsha
After breakfast, check out of the hotel. At the arranged time, your guide will meet you in the hotel reception to accompany you, along with the driver, to Changsha airport or railway station for your onward journey.
