Day 1 - San Jose
Welcome to San José, Costa Rica. On arrival, we meet you at the airport, assist with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel in the city – a smooth start to your journey. Overnight in San José.
Day 2 - San Jose - Tortuguero
This morning at the agreed time, we collect you from your hotel and travel to Tortuguero on Costa Rica’s north Caribbean coast – one of the country’s most renowned conservation areas. Breakfast is included en route. On arrival at the dock, we board a boat to the lodge, then enjoy lunch around midday. In the afternoon, we explore Tortuguero’s network of canals, lagoons and dense rainforest on a boat tour led by an expert naturalist guide. Wildlife is abundant here, with 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles and 60 species of mammals recorded in the area. Dinner is included at the lodge in the evening. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 3 - Tortuguero
Meet your guide in the mid morning for a guided walk along the forest trails to explore Tortuguero’s tropical rainforest and look out for wildlife. In the afternoon we visit Tortuguero village – a small community of around 500 residents with no cars – set on a narrow strip of land between the beach and a canal. We wander through the colourful village to gain a closer insight into Caribbean culture, its people and everyday life. Overnight in Tortuguero.
Day 4 - Tortuguero - Guapiles - Sarapiqui
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and continue our journey. We travel by shared boat and road from Tortuguero to Guápiles, where we stop for an included lunch at a local restaurant. We then continue by road to Sarapiquí and check in on arrival. The afternoon is yours – relax and make the most of the hotel facilities. Overnight in Sarapiquí.
Day 5 - Sarapiqui - La Fortuna
Breakfast at the hotel, then check out. This morning we take a private transfer to La Fortuna, home to the mighty Arenal Volcano and known for superb views and abundant nature. The afternoon is at leisure – you can relax and enjoy the hotel’s hot springs, pools and gardens. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 6 - La Fortuna
After breakfast at the hotel, you have the morning at leisure. Later, we set out on a guided hike in Arenal 1968 Park for impressive views of Arenal Volcano, walking for about two hours on medium difficulty trails that cover roughly 1–3 kilometres depending on the route. Our expert guide explains the volcano’s activity periods and history, highlights features shaped by past eruptions and helps us look for local wildlife. After the hike, we relax at the Baldi Spa hot springs, enjoying the thermal waters amid lush vegetation, followed by an included dinner at the springs. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 7 - San Jose
At the agreed time, we will collect you from your hotel for a private transfer to Juan Santamaría International Airport – ready for your flight home.
