Itinerary
Day 1 - Prague
Welcome to Prague. On arrival at the airport, we’ll transfer you to your hotel. Please check the information board in reception for the time and details of the welcome meeting with your guide.In the evening, we’ll transfer you to Old Town Square – a lively hub with plenty of places to eat. You can choose a restaurant for dinner, with options ranging from Czech to Chinese, Indian and Italian. Afterwards, we’ll provide a return transfer to the hotel.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Prague
Today we delve into Prague, the Baroque jewel of Europe. With our local guide, we take an informative panoramic tour to see the city’s standout monuments. We include a visit to Prague Castle – admission included – followed by a relaxing boat ride on the Vltava. In the afternoon, you have free time to explore at your own pace.
Day 3 - Prague - Pilsen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
We depart Prague early and make a stop in Pilsen, renowned for its beer. You’ll have time to wander the historic centre – the Old Town Square, the cathedral, the Plague Column and the Renaissance-era town hall are all nearby.We then cross into Germany and follow part of the Romantic Road to visit Rothenburg, widely regarded as one of the country’s most beautiful villages. Afterwards we continue to Frankfurt, Germany’s financial capital, arriving in the evening. You can spend your free time in the historic centre, where you’ll find plenty of dining options – Indian, Asian, Italian and other international cuisines.
Day 4 - Frankfurt - Cologne - Amsterdam
We take a scenic Rhine cruise between Rüdesheim and St. Goar – the river’s most picturesque stretch. We then continue to Cologne – renowned for its vast Gothic cathedral – before heading into Holland, arriving in Amsterdam in the evening.
Day 5 - Amsterdam
We spend the morning in North Holland – first at Zaanse Schans, with its traditional wooden houses, canals and windmills, then in Volendam, a scenic fishing village. From Volendam we take a short boat to Marken – once an island, now linked to the mainland by a fixed dyke – where many houses were built on stilts to protect against flooding.In the afternoon we enjoy a guided tour of Amsterdam, taking in a classic windmill view and the Rembrandt statue, the contemporary South District and the craft of diamond cutting around Museum Square. The tour ends at Central Station – the guide will share practical tips so you can explore the canals, street markets and cafés on your own.
Day 6 - Amsterdam - Brussels - Paris
After breakfast we set off for Belgium – just over 200 km brings us to Brussels, the capital and home to major European institutions. Before reaching the centre we pause at the Atomium, the city’s most recognisable landmark. In the historic heart we admire the Grand Place – a jewel of Flemish Baroque – and stroll past the symbolic Manneken Pis. Brussels blends history, chocolate and modernity.In the afternoon we continue into France, arriving in Paris at the end of the day.
Day 7 - Paris
This morning we visit the Palace of Versailles – admission not included – renowned for its remarkable gardens. Returning to Paris, we explore Montmartre, the bohemian neighbourhood long associated with artists and cabarets, before a panoramic city tour with a local guide to take in the grand avenues and major monuments. We then return to the hotel. In the evening, you may choose to attend an optional variety show.
Day 8 - Paris
We start in central Paris with a visit to the Eiffel Tower – tickets to the second level are included. Afterwards, we enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Seine lasting approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The afternoon is free for you to explore the city at your own pace – please note the return transfer to the hotel is not included. Note: If waiting times at the Eiffel Tower are too long, we may reschedule the visit to a different time or on Sunday.
Day 9 - Paris - Burgundy - Beaune - Lyon
Today we travel into the heart of France, crossing Burgundy (Bourgogne) – a region famed for its vineyards and wines. Our first stop is Beaune, where you’ll have free time for lunch and a stroll among its flower-lined streets, the renowned hospice and the wine museum. We then continue to Lyon, the former capital of Roman Gaul on the banks of the Rhône. Its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We take the cable car up to Notre Dame de Fourvière for sweeping views of the city, after which you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Note: On some departures part of the group stays in Chambéry, near Lyon – in this case we travel there in the evening for the overnight. The following morning you’ll have time to visit this medieval city, the capital of Savoie, known for its beautiful historic centre and impressive castle.
Day 10 - Lyon - Geneva - Zurich
We’ll travel into Switzerland, arriving in Geneva to pass the Palace of Nations – the UN’s European headquarters – and stroll the English Garden to see the flower clock before admiring the Jet d’Eau, the tallest fountain in Europe. After lunch, we’ll continue along the shores of Lakes Geneva and Neuchâtel, crossing the Three Lakes region with views of vineyard‑draped hillsides. We’ll stop in Neuchâtel, where you can wander by the lake, explore the historic centre or visit the castle dating from the 10th century. We’ll reach Zurich in the late afternoon. Note: Depending on group size, the Geneva–Zurich section may be by train – in this case there is no stop in Neuchâtel.
Day 11 - Zurich
With our guide, we explore Zurich, Switzerland’s most populous city and its financial and cultural heart – twice ranked the world’s best city for quality of life. Afterwards we board a scenic cruise of nearly two hours on Lake Zurich, with brief stops to take in the villages along the way. We disembark in Rapperswil, a picturesque town known for its medieval castle, and return to Zurich by train – a chance to experience the efficiency and punctuality of the Swiss rail system. Note: Depending on group size, transfers to and from the city centre may be by public transport.
Day 12 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
We travel through the Interlaken region, where high peaks and clear lakes set the scene. Our first stop is Grindelwald, where we pause for a coffee before taking a cable car up the mountain. At the top, we follow a mountain path to a suspension bridge – those who wish can cross for striking views of nearby glaciers. Lunch on the mountain is included, after which we descend and continue to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most attractive cities. Here you have free time to explore at your own pace before we return to Zurich at the end of the day.Your guide may also offer an optional full day excursion starting in the morning – after free time in Lucerne, you take a rotating cable car to the summit of Mount Titlis, over 3,000 metres above sea level, for panoramic views of the glacier and the Alps.
Day 13 - Zurich - Bellinzona - Como - Milan
We leave Zurich early and cross the Alps into the Italian‑speaking part of Switzerland. Our first stop is Bellinzona, known for its three medieval hilltop castles – UNESCO World Heritage sites that reflect its historic role as a key alpine stronghold. You’ll have free time to wander the charming centre. We then enter Italy and pause in Como for lunch – a Lombardy jewel celebrated for its lakeside gardens and striking cathedral – where you can choose a place to eat and explore at your own pace. We continue to Milan, where our guide will lead us to the impressive Piazza del Duomo; you’ll have a little time to look around before we transfer you to the hotel.
Day 14 - Milan - Pisa - Rome
From Milan we travel south to Pisa. On arrival we ride the small tourist train to the Piazza dei Miracoli – you’ll have time to admire the complex, including the famous Leaning Tower. We then continue to Rome, arriving later in the day.
Day 15 - Rome
In the morning, we set out on a three hour guided exploration of Rome – part on foot through Imperial Rome and part by panoramic coach – taking in the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the Pyramid of Cestius and Castel Sant’Angelo. The tour finishes at Vatican City at about 11:00; you can then choose to join an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. In the evening, we include a transfer to the Trastevere neighbourhood – known for its cosy restaurants and lively atmosphere – with return to the hotel around 8:30 pm.
Day 16 - Rome - Florence
We leave Rome and travel north to Florence, enjoying the scenery en route. On arrival, we head straight to Piazzale Michelangelo for panoramic views of the city, then continue on foot towards the historic centre. After time for you to find lunch, we meet a local guide for a walking tour taking in the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria – Florence really is an open air museum. Afterwards, you have free time to explore as you wish. In the evening, you can choose where to dine – this district offers many restaurants with a variety of international cuisines.
Day 17 - Florence - Venice
We cross the Apennines, enjoying the changing mountain scenery en route to Venice. On arrival, we take a boat across the Giudecca Canal to the island of Venice for a guided visit to St Mark’s Square – the city’s celebrated central piazza. We then visit the Murano glass factory to watch the techniques used in traditional glassmaking. Afterwards, you’ll have free time to explore at your own pace. We stay overnight in the Mestre district.
Day 18 - Venice
After breakfast, we conclude our journey in Venice – leaving you with lasting memories of your trip.
