Day 1 - Paris
Upon your arrival in Paris, we will take care of your transfer to the hotel. Once checked in, you will have some leisure time to unwind at your own pace. Later in the day, you will receive details about the commencement of your tour. This information will either be delivered in person or accessible via the signs in the hotel reception area. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Paris
Today, we delve into the grandeur of French history with a visit to the splendid Palace of Versailles. Although admission is not included, the palace is renowned worldwide for its architectural magnificence and meticulously landscaped gardens. On returning to Paris, we’ll explore Montmartre, a delightful enclave celebrated for its artistic flair, where painters and performers have thrived amidst the captivating atmosphere of cabarets. Our adventure continues with a guided panoramic city tour, where we’ll traverse the city’s illustrious avenues and marvel at its famed monuments. We will conclude our day back at the hotel. If you fancy additional entertainment, there will be an optional variety show available in the evening to enhance your experience in this remarkable city.
Day 3 - Paris - Rouen
We begin our day in the heart of Paris with a visit to its most iconic symbol, the Eiffel Tower, where you'll enjoy the breathtaking views from the second floor—tickets are included in your tour. Following this, we will relax on a scenic cruise along the Seine River, capturing the essence of Parisian charm. The afternoon is yours to explore the city freely at your own pace. Later, at around 4:00 p.m., we'll depart Paris and journey towards Normandy, arriving in the historic city of Rouen. Once there, you will have time to wander through its ancient centre. Rouen, with its Roman heritage, offers a delightful mix of medieval architecture, including its majestic Gothic cathedral, providing an insightful glimpse into the region's vibrant past. Please note that if high wait times are encountered at the Eiffel Tower, we may reschedule the visit for a more convenient time.
Day 4 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, we'll begin our day with a leisurely walk through the heart of Rouen, allowing us to soak in the atmosphere of this historic city. Later, we'll journey north through the picturesque landscapes of France before boarding a ferry to cross the English Channel. Our destination is Canterbury, the religious capital of England, celebrated for its charming historic centre. Following our exploration of Canterbury, we'll continue our travels to London. Once there, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some free time in the iconic Tower Bridge area, a symbol of the city, before we proceed to our hotel for the evening.
Day 5 - London
Experience the vibrant energy of London on a captivating panoramic tour led by a local guide. You'll explore the rich tapestry of the city's culture and history, taking in famed landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, the iconic River Thames, and the stately Buckingham Palace. Depending on the day, you may even catch a glimpse of the renowned Changing of the Guard ceremony. As evening descends, we'll convene in the bustling Piccadilly area to wander through Leicester Square, lively Chinatown, and the spirited district of Soho, renowned for their eclectic theatres and entertainment options. With numerous dining choices available, you can select the perfect spot for dinner to suit your taste before we make our way back to the hotel.
Day 6 - London - Cambridge - York - Durham
On the sixth day of our journey, we will bid farewell to London and travel towards northern England, with our initial stop in Cambridge. Here, we will admire the town's stunning universities, famed for their beautiful architecture and esteemed academic history. After our visit and lunch, we will continue north to York. This historic city is renowned for its magnificent cathedral, ancient Roman walls, and lively shopping streets, all of which will leave a lasting impression. You'll have an opportunity to explore York at your leisure before we journey onwards to Durham. Known for its medieval charm, Durham boasts an impressive cathedral standing proudly before its castle.
Day 7 - Durham - Alnwick - Edinburgh
We set off towards Scotland this morning, making a stop in the charming town of Alnwick. Renowned for its stunning gardens and majestic medieval castle, which appeared in the Harry Potter films, Alnwick offers a delightful glimpse into the region's heritage. Continuing our journey, we arrive in Edinburgh around midday. As Scotland's vibrant capital, Edinburgh boasts a monumental centre that is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city's iconic castle, perched on Castle Rock, provides an impressive backdrop to its steep streets and sweeping parks. We'll enjoy a panoramic tour with a knowledgeable local guide, uncovering the highlights of this historic city.
Day 8 - Edinburgh - Inverness - Loch Ness - Fort Augustus - Glasgow
Today, we embark on a picturesque journey through the Scottish Highlands, starting with a refreshing coffee break and a leisurely stroll in the charming village of Pitlochry. Our travels take us onwards through Inverness, located near the famed Loch Ness. Here, we make a stop to explore Urquhart Castle (admission included) before embarking on a boat ride across the enigmatic dark waters of the loch. Continuing our adventure, we pass through Fort Augustus, known for its intriguing sluice system, and arrive at Fort William, a popular hub nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the United Kingdom. Heading south, our route winds through the scenic high plateaus, often dusted with snow, and alongside the stunning shores of Loch Lomond. Our day concludes with a late afternoon arrival in Glasgow.Please note that for groups visiting Edinburgh from 15th November to the end of February, an amended itinerary will be followed due to shorter daylight hours and possible snow. In this variant, we depart Edinburgh at 8:00 a.m. for Pitlochry, enjoying a visit to a traditional whisky distillery (admission included). The next stop is Stirling, where we explore the historic centre and the grand Stirling Castle (tickets included), steeped in significant historical events, battles, and royal coronations. After lunch, we pause to photograph The Kelpies, impressive sculptures inspired by Scottish mythology, before continuing to Glasgow, arriving around 5:00 p.m. with time to explore the city centre.
Day 9 - Glasgow - Belfast - Dublin
Today, we depart from Glasgow, journeying south through the scenic landscapes of Scotland to board a ferry at Cairnryan. This crossing takes us to Northern Ireland, where we arrive in Belfast, a city rich in history and emerging with newfound vibrancy after its period of religious strife. We continue our travels into the Republic of Ireland, with Dublin as our final destination for the day. Expect to arrive by evening, giving you a chance to settle into the atmosphere of this lively capital city.
Day 10 - Dublin
We begin our day in Dublin with a panoramic tour of the charming Irish capital. We’ll meander along the River Liffey, taking in the serene beauty of the surrounding parks and the historic university, as well as the bustling downtown streets. Our tour includes a look at the exterior of Trinity College, one of Dublin’s most esteemed educational institutions. The afternoon is yours to explore; take the opportunity to discover the many facets of Dublin at your own pace. Whether your interest lies in visiting museums, sampling local cuisine, or simply soaking up the vibrant atmosphere, the city promises plenty to see and do. Please note that, depending on our arrival time in Dublin and daylight considerations, this tour might occur on the previous afternoon.
Day 11 - Dublin - Caernarfon - Liverpool
We’ll set off early in the morning, embarking on a ferry journey to Wales that will take approximately three to three and a half hours. Our first destination is the coastal town of Caernarfon, celebrated for its majestic castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you'll have the chance to explore and enjoy lunch amidst the unique historical backdrop. Later, we’ll continue our journey to Liverpool. Once in Liverpool, a brief bus tour will introduce you to this vibrant city, renowned for its maritime heritage as the United Kingdom’s second-largest port. If you're interested, there's an opportunity to visit The Beatles Museum, delving into the city's rich musical history.
Day 12 - Liverpool - Stratford - Oxford - London
Our journey on Day 12 takes us through the heart of England, beginning with a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, the famous birthplace of William Shakespeare. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at your leisure and explore the delightful town that inspired the Bard's timeless works. Following an invigorating afternoon, we’ll journey to the historic city of Oxford, a renowned centre of education and culture that has nurtured the minds of kings, politicians, philosophers, and scientists alike. As the afternoon unfolds, we’ll continue onward to London, where we will arrive in the evening.
Day 13 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
On the thirteenth day of our journey, we will begin by exploring the British Museum, one of the world's most remarkable and historic museums, showcasing artefacts from across the globe. After the visit, you'll have some free time to delve into the museum further or relax. At lunchtime, we'll proceed to Camden, a district celebrated for its diverse and lively street market. Here, you'll have the opportunity to browse through a multitude of unique items from different cultures and savour a meal from one of the many delightful food stalls or restaurants.In the late afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., we'll set off for Colchester, known as the oldest recorded town in England. During our visit, we'll take a scenic walk through its historic streets, soaking in the charm of this ancient locale. Our day concludes as we continue to Harwich, where we will board the ferry for an overnight crossing to the Netherlands, settling into en suite cabins for the night.Please note that due to limited cabin availability on the ferry, alternative arrangements might be made. This may involve travelling from London to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry with an overnight stay in Antwerp, or possibly travelling by train or flight to Amsterdam.
Day 14 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
At approximately 8:00 a.m., we will dock at Hoek van Holland, marking our arrival in the Netherlands. Our first stop is Volendam, a charming fishing village that offers a glimpse into traditional Dutch life. We will then proceed to Amsterdam, where a panoramic tour awaits. You can look forward to seeing the city's most iconic sights and learning about its renowned diamond-cutting techniques. In the evening, we will transport you to Rembrandtplein, a lively square packed with diverse dining options, catering to every taste with cuisine from around the globe. Situated near the famed Red Light District, this area offers a vibrant nightlife experience.
Day 15 - Amsterdam
