Itinerary
Day 1 - Delhi
Arrive in Delhi. On arrival at Delhi airport, we meet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. Standard check in/out time is 12:00 – early check in is subject to room availability. The rest of the day is free to relax or for your own plans, and you can choose to go out for dinner with your driver. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Exploring Old & New Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a city tour of Delhi, starting in Old Delhi. We visit the Red Fort – residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years until 1857 – and Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in the world built by Shah Jahan. We take a cycle rickshaw through Chandni Chowk and the Khari Baoli Spice Market, where stalls brim with spices, dried fruit, silver jewellery and colourful saris, and visit Raj Ghat – the memorial marking Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation site.
In New Delhi, we visit Humayun’s Tomb – the subcontinent’s first garden-tomb – and Qutub Minar, a 73 metres tall minaret within the Qutub complex, followed by the Lotus Temple, a Bahai House of Worship open to all. We then drive through New Delhi’s government district, passing the President’s House, Parliament and India Gate. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 - Delhi to Agra & Taj Mahal
After breakfast we drive from Delhi to Agra – around 210 km and approximately 4 hours – and check in to the hotel.
Later we set out on a city tour, visiting the Taj Mahal, the ivory‑white marble mausoleum on the banks of the River Yamuna commissioned in 1632 by Emperor Shah Jahan for his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and which also houses his own tomb. We continue to Agra Fort, the main residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638, then visit the tomb of Itmad‑ud‑Daula, commissioned by Nur Jahan for her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4 - Fatehpur Sikri & Ranthambore National Park
Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Ranthambore (approx. 250 km – 5 hours). After breakfast, we drive to Ranthambore with a visit en route to Fatehpur Sikri, founded by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after around 15 years due to water scarcity. Predominantly built in red sandstone, its architecture reflects both Hindu and Muslim influences. We explore highlights including Diwan‑i‑Khas, Jodha Bai’s Palace, Jama Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chishti, Panch Mahal and Buland Darwaza, before continuing to Ranthambore for check‑in at the resort.
After lunch, we visit Ranthambore Fort, originally built by the Chauhan rulers in the 10th century. Its hilltop position, massive gates and walls made it a stronghold, and it is linked to the 1303 siege by Alauddin Khilji and the legend of jauhar. The rest of the day is free – you can relax at the resort. Overnight at the resort.
Day 5 - Ranthambore National Park Safaris
We venture into Ranthambore National Park for two game drives – one at first light and another in the late afternoon – when wildlife is typically most active. Between drives, we return to the resort to relax.
Once the private game reserve of Jaipur’s royal family, Ranthambore’s mix of rugged hills, crags, meadows, lakes and rivulets shelters a dry deciduous forest of dhok, fig and banyan. The park offers some of the best chances to see Bengal tiger in the wild. You may also spot sloth bear, leopard, caracal, jackal, fox, hyena and mongoose, with the Indian wolf seen on rare occasions. Herbivores include chital, sambar deer and the blue bull antelope, alongside rhesus macaques and langurs. Birdlife is abundant – look for king vulture and serpent eagle – and crocodiles often bask by the lakes. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 - Journey to Bundi
After breakfast at the resort, we take a gypsy safari in Ranthambore National Park. Later, we drive 155 km – around 3 hours – to Bundi and check in to the hotel. We then explore the town, once ruled by the Hada Chauhans and associated with the Hadoti region known for its art and sculpture. Kota separated in 1624, yet Bundi still retains much of its medieval character, with many buildings showing a distinctive bluish hue traditionally used to keep interiors cooler in summer. We visit Garadia Mahadev Temple, Sukh Mahal, Rani Ji Ki Baori, Phool Sagar, Taragarh Fort, selected cenotaphs and stepwells, and Braj Bhushan Ji Ki Haveli to view its frescoes and paintings. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 - Chittogarh Fort & Udaipur
After breakfast at the hotel, we drive 275 kilometres – around six hours – from Bundi to Udaipur, stopping to explore Chittorgarh. Dominating a 180‑metre hill and spreading over 700 acres, Chittorgarh Fort is central to Rajput history, having withstood sieges in 1303 by Ala‑ud‑din Khilji, in 1533 by Bahadur Shah and in 1568 by the Mughal emperor Akbar, before being returned to the Rajputs in 1616 under Jahangir. We visit Chittorgarh Fort, Rani Padmini’s Palace, Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory), Kirti Stambh, Jain temples and a few palaces.
We then continue to Udaipur and check in at the hotel. Later, we enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Pichola, taking in the ghats and shoreline architecture with fine views of the City Palace. Created in 1362 and named after nearby Picholi village, this man‑made freshwater lake includes the islands of Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir, both developed with palaces. In the evening, we watch the Dharohar folk dance show at Bagore‑ki‑Haveli, an 18th‑century haveli now a museum of Mewar art and architecture, where performers present traditional Rajasthani music and dance in vibrant costume for about an hour. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 - Exploring Udaipur
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a guided tour of Udaipur, the city of lakes framed by the Aravalli hills. We visit the City Palace and its museum, the ornate Jagdish Temple and the tranquil Saheliyon ki Bari, before continuing to the historic temple complexes of Eklingji and Nagda. Udaipur’s skyline takes in landmarks such as the Lake Palace on Lake Pichola and the hilltop Sajjangarh – the city is also known for its zinc and marble industries. The Solar Observatory on Lake Fateh Sagar is the only observatory in India located on an island and was modelled on Big Bear Lake in Southern California. In the evening we enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Pichola to see the lakeside ghats and heritage buildings – the view of the City Palace from the water is superb. Lake Pichola is an artificial freshwater lake created in 1362 AD and named after the nearby Picholi village. Two islands, Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir, sit within the lake and are home to elegant palaces.Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 - Pushkar & Ajmer
After breakfast, we drive 280 km – approximately 5 hours – to Pushkar and check in to the hotel. Later, we explore Pushkar, one of India’s oldest cities, surrounded by hillocks on three sides. According to legend, a lotus dropped by Lord Brahma created Pushkar Lake – the city takes its name from the flower.
On our tour we visit Pushkar Lake with its 52 bathing ghats, the Brahma Temple and the Savitri Temple. We then take an excursion to nearby Ajmer to visit Khwaja Dargah E Sharif, Adhai Din Ka Jhonpda and Anasagar Lake. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 - Pushkar to Jaipur
Pushkar – Jaipur (145 km – approx. 3 hours). After breakfast we drive to Jaipur and check in at the hotel. In the evening we explore the Pink City and its colourful bazaars. You can also visit the Albert Hall Museum – inspired by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum – which displays metalwork, woodcraft, carpets, stone and metal sculptures, arms and weapons, natural stones and ivory, along with miniature paintings from the Bundi, Kota, Kishangarh, Udaipur and Jaipur schools. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11 - Exploring Jaipur & Amber Fort
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a full-day tour of Jaipur – India’s first planned city, established in 1727 by Jai Singh II, the king of Amber, and designed by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya according to Vastu Shastra. The city was painted pink in 1876 – the colour symbolising hospitality – to welcome the visiting Prince of Wales, and sits against the backdrop of the hill forts and temples.
In the morning we explore Amber Fort, then continue to Jaigarh Fort and the terraced Sisodia Rani Garden. This afternoon we visit the City Palace, the Observatory and Hawa Mahal. You can then browse the famous bazaars of the Pink City at your own pace before we attend the evening aarti ceremony at Birla Temple. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12 - Jaipur to Mandawa
Jaipur – Mandawa (170 km – approx. 3 hours). After breakfast, we drive to Mandawa and check in on arrival. Set in the Shekhawati region, Mandawa developed around a fort established by Thakur Nawal Singh to protect a caravan outpost on routes carrying goods from China and the Middle East. The town is renowned for its painted havelis, built by merchant families from the 18th to the early 20th centuries, many featuring mythological themes – including episodes from the lives of Rama and Krishna – alongside motifs from nature.
We visit Mandawa Fort and prominent havelis including Hanuman Prasad Goenka, Jhunjhunwala, Saraf, Murmuria, Ladia, Chokhani and Newatia, as well as Raghunath Ji Temple and Lord Krishna Temple. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 - Return to Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, we drive back to Delhi – approximately 250 kilometres, taking around five hours. On arrival, you can choose a restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we transfer you to the airport to board your flight to your onward destination.
