Itinerary
Day 1 - Taormina
Upon arrival in Sicily, make your own way to the hotel in Taormina and check in. Transfers from Catania airport or the train station can be arranged as an optional extra. You will have free time to explore the town at your leisure. Wander through the charming old town, relax on some of the region’s finest beaches, or visit key sights such as Taormina Cathedral, a notable historic monument. Piazza IX Aprile offers stunning views of the unspoilt coastline, while Villa Comunale provides a peaceful retreat with its expansive gardens. Overnight in Taormina.
Day 2 - Taormina
After breakfast, we set off on a morning excursion to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest volcano and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2013. We travel by comfortable coach to Rifugio Sapienza, situated at 1,900 metres on the volcano’s southern slope. Following a brief stop, we ascend by cable car to 2,500 metres, then continue by jeep to the authorised crater zones at around 2,900 metres. Licensed guides from the Italian Alpine Club accompany us for a gentle trek, ensuring safety and providing expert insight. Weather permitting, we pause to observe any volcanic activity from a secure vantage point. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended and can be hired locally. The guides’ decisions, in line with official safety regulations, determine how far we can ascend. We return to Taormina for the evening.
Day 3 - Taormina
After breakfast, we set off on a shared boat tour along the stunning Sicilian coast. You will cruise through clear emerald waters, passing towering limestone cliffs draped in Mediterranean vegetation. The journey reveals the enchanting bays and hidden caves that make Taormina’s coastline so distinctive. Our experienced skippers will share insights into the area’s rich cultural heritage and local traditions. You can then dive into the vibrant underwater world with the provided snorkelling gear, exploring marine life beneath the surface. Afterwards, enjoy light snacks and a refreshing aperitif on board as you relax in the sun. Whether you choose to unwind, dance, or simply take in the spectacular sea views accessible only by boat, this tour offers a memorable experience of Sicily’s coastal charm. We return to Taormina for the night.
Day 4 - Taormina
After breakfast, enjoy some final free time in Taormina to take a last stroll through the town or pick up any souvenirs. When ready, we provide an optional transfer to the airport or train station to continue your onward journey.
