On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a representative will welcome you and transfer you to your chosen hotel in Nairobi. The afternoon is yours to relax and settle in—perhaps enjoy the hotel’s facilities or explore the city at your own pace. Overnight in Nairobi.

After an early breakfast, we set off northwards, passing near Thika and travelling through striking landscapes marked by rushing mountain streams and expansive tea and coffee plantations. Beyond Nanyuki, the road leads to Isiolo, a dusty frontier town that serves as the final major stop before entering the remote northern region. From Isiolo, it’s a relatively short journey to Samburu, where we arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, we head out on a game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. We begin the day with an early morning game drive, offering the chance to see Samburu’s distinctive wildlife in the cool of the day. The reserve is known for species rarely found elsewhere in Kenya, including reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras and Beisa oryx. The landscape is semi-arid, featuring acacia trees, open savannah and the Ewaso Ng’iro River, which provides a unique setting for wildlife viewing. Birdwatchers will appreciate the over 450 species recorded here, such as Somali ostriches, vulturine guinea fowl and various raptors. After returning to the lodge for breakfast, you can relax by the pool or on the terrace overlooking the river. Following lunch, we set out for another game drive, returning to the lodge as the sun sets. Overnight is at the lodge in Samburu.

We leave Samburu and travel south through Isiolo, crossing the northern foothills of Mount Kenya to reach Nanyuki. From there, we head north-west towards Nyahururu, situated close to the equator and known for Nyahururu Falls—a striking 74-metre waterfall on the Ewaso Nyiro River. We stop at the equator for a photo opportunity before continuing to your hotel near the falls. After lunch, we take a guided walk around the hotel grounds, then continue to Nyahururu Falls and visit the nearby Hippo Pools. We return to the lodge in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, we travel south to the stunning Lake Nakuru National Park. Upon arrival, we embark on a game drive, followed by lunch at a nearby lodge. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its diverse birdlife, including the seasonal presence of flamingoes, and is home to both black and white rhinos as well as the endangered Rothschild giraffe. After lunch, we continue game viewing as we make our way to the park gate, then proceed to Naivasha, arriving in the late afternoon. Once checked in, you can enjoy a one-hour boat ride on Lake Naivasha, offering a relaxing way to take in the lake’s scenery and wildlife. Overnight accommodation is at Lake Naivasha.

After an early breakfast, we leave Lake Naivasha and begin the drive to the Maasai Mara. The journey takes us first over the Mau Escarpment, offering expansive views, before heading south towards Narok, the gateway to the Maasai Mara and the administrative centre of this region. We travel through Kenya’s fertile “breadbasket”, with vast fields of wheat and barley, arriving at the Mara in time for lunch. After a restful siesta, we set out on an afternoon game drive, returning to camp as the sun sets. Overnight in the Maasai Mara.

After an early breakfast, we set out for a morning game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This renowned park is home to the iconic Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros—as well as a wide variety of antelopes, gazelles and wildebeests. We return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime before heading out again for an afternoon game drive. As the sun sets, we make our way back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay in the Maasai Mara.

After breakfast, we leave the Maasai Mara and travel across expansive wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. From there, we cross the vast plains of the Rift Valley floor before ascending the rift escarpment via a road constructed by Italian prisoners during the Second World War. We arrive in Nairobi around midday, where you will be transferred to the airport or to either the Panari Hotel or Ole Sereni Hotel for your onward travel arrangements.
