Oasis Desert Exploration

On the first morning, meet your driver in the hotel reception at around 8 am to begin your journey. The first highlight is the Tizi n’Tichka pass, where you’ll travel through striking mountainous terrain, offering dramatic cliffs and vivid colours at every turn. Continue along the road to Agdez, where we stop for lunch. Afterwards, cross the Draa Valley, known for its vast palm groves and numerous Kasbahs. Proceed to Zagora before visiting a local potter’s village and Tamgroute, home to the region’s oldest library and Quranic school. From there, we travel to M’hamid, a well-known oasis on the edge of the Sahara. Here, you’ll meet a team of cameleers and enjoy a two-hour camel safari to reach the bivouac at Erg Lihoudi, nestled at the base of the dunes. Once settled in your tent, you can watch the sunset over the dunes before joining a Berber team to help prepare dinner—baking bread and cooking in the sand beneath the stars. The day concludes with traditional music and dance around the campfire. Overnight accommodation is in the desert camp.

You’ll start the day early to witness the desert sunrise—a perfect moment for memorable photographs. After a relaxed breakfast at the camp, we’ll set off on camelback for a ride through the desert, returning from Erg Lihoudi Camp to M’hamid. Once there, you’ll rejoin your vehicle and say farewell to the camels and Berber guides. We then retrace our route through Zagora and the Draa Valley, with opportunities to stop for photos or visits along the way. After lunch in Agdez, we’ll ascend into the High Atlas Mountains, exploring hidden Kasbahs and Berber villages. Around 7pm, you’ll be driven back to Marrakech and dropped off at your hotel reception.
