Itinerary
Day 1 - Kathmandu
Arrive at Kathmandu Airport, where we meet you and help with formalities – the beginning of your journey in Nepal’s vibrant capital. We transfer you to your hotel in Thamel. You can settle in and take your first wander through the lively streets. In the evening we lead a short orientation walk around Thamel, highlighting key landmarks and useful places – a gentle introduction that helps you feel confident exploring later in the tour.
Day 2 - Kathmandu
We meet our local team for a thorough briefing on the wildlife safari ahead – a warm introduction to the cultural and natural highlights to come. We then explore Kathmandu Durbar Square, wandering among intricately carved temples and former royal palaces as we delve into Newari architecture and the city’s history. From central Kathmandu we continue up to Swayambhunath, the hilltop stupa with wide views over the valley – we spin prayer wheels, take in sweeping panoramas and watch the resident monkeys at play.
Day 3 - Kathmandu
We take a guided nature walk in Nagarjun Forest Reserve on the valley’s slopes – keeping an eye out for deer, monkeys and superb birdlife in this peaceful protected area.
Day 4 - Kathmandu
Leaving Kathmandu, we drive into Dhading district towards Shreeban Nature Camp – trading city bustle for unfolding countryside and village scenes. On arrival, we explore the surrounding farmland and forest on foot, following quiet trails with broad mountain views. We take time to enjoy the scenery and listen for birdsong – relaxed birdwatching is available if you wish.
Day 5 - Shreeban - Chitwan
We take a leisurely drive through the Terai lowlands towards Chitwan National Park – pausing en route to enjoy the changing landscapes.
Day 6 - Chitwan
We drift along a jungle river in a traditional canoe, watching for crocodiles and water birds as we enjoy the tranquil lowland waterways. We venture deeper into Chitwan by jeep, crossing varied habitats with the chance to see rhinos, boar and, with luck, big cats. We continue on foot with a guided jungle walk in the national park, searching the forest and grasslands for rhinos, deer, monkeys and diverse birdlife. As evening approaches, we take a gentle stroll through a traditional Tharu village near the park – an opportunity to learn about the customs and daily life of this indigenous community.
Day 7 - Chitwan - Bardia
We journey across the Terai towards Bardia National Park, pausing at scenic and cultural sights en route – a varied slice of western Nepal. On arrival, we transfer by jeep from the park entrance to your jungle lodge, where we settle in and soak up the tranquillity of the forest. This evening you can relax at the lodge and enjoy the hush of the jungle – a calm prelude to tomorrow’s explorations.
Day 8 - Bardia
We explore Bardia’s deeper reaches by jeep, following recent wildlife movements and ranger guidance in search of tigers, elephants, deer and rich birdlife. We take to the river for a gentle rafting experience – drifting along clear waters while scanning the banks for animals. On foot, we join a guided jungle walk to observe tracks, bird species and signs of larger mammals – the quiet pace deepens our understanding of the park’s ecosystem. In the evening, we attend a cultural programme presented by local communities and learn about regional traditions, music and customs unique to western Nepal.
Day 9 - Bardia
We venture further into Bardia by jeep, again tracking recent wildlife activity with ranger input as we search for tigers, elephants, deer and prolific birdlife. We continue on foot with a guided jungle walk to examine tracks, note bird species and spot signs of larger mammals – a quieter pace that reveals more of the park’s rhythms. We then return to the water for a calm rafting experience, drifting along clear channels and scanning the banks for animals.
Day 10 - Bardia
We head back into Bardia by jeep, using fresh wildlife updates to focus our search for tigers, elephants, deer and varied birdlife. We then continue on foot with a guided jungle walk to study tracks, bird species and signs of larger mammals – a reflective pace that consolidates what we have learned about the ecosystem. This evening you can unwind at your lodge on the edge of the national park, enjoying the stillness of the forest – a serene close to your time in Bardia.
Day 11 - Nepalgunj - Kathmandu
We leave Bardia and drive across the Terai plains to Nepalgunj Airport, watching the scenery change as we go. We fly back to Kathmandu – on a clear day the Himalaya spread out beneath the wing – a short hop that saves a full day of overland travel. On arrival, we transfer you from the airport to your hotel in Thamel and get you checked in. You can rest after the flight or explore the lively lanes at your own pace. This evening we provide an informal briefing about the tour and the local area.
Day 12 - Kathmandu
You have time at leisure to unwind or wander the lively lanes of Thamel at your own pace. This evening we gather for an informal briefing on the tour and the local area – a relaxed chance to ask questions and get your bearings.
Day 13 - Kathmandu
You have time to rest or explore Thamel at your own pace. When it is time to depart, we transfer you from your Kathmandu hotel to the airport – say your goodbyes to Nepal as you head for your international flight. You check in at Kathmandu Airport and complete departure procedures before your onward journey.
