Day 1 - Jeddah
Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, you’ll be greeted by the contrasting landscapes and rich cultural tapestry that promise an unforgettable journey. As we transfer you to your hotel in Jeddah, you'll catch your first glimpse of this vibrant city situated along the coastline of the Red Sea. Known as the country's second-largest city, Jeddah boasts a population of around four million people. At 19:00, we will gather at the hotel reception to meet our guide. Together, we'll embark on a walking tour through Al-Balad, Jeddah's historic centre, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you'll be enchanted by the medieval alleyways and the distinct architecture of homes adorned with coral and wooden balconies. The atmospheric evening lighting of the neighbourhood adds a special charm, and there are plenty of lovely restaurants to explore at your leisure. Please be mindful that our tour group may evolve as fellow travellers join or leave the journey at different stages, though rest assured, we always maintain an intimate group size. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Day 2 - Jeddah
On our second day in Jeddah, we'll delve deeper into the city's fascinating contrasts with the assistance of a local guide. As we explore this evolving metropolis, currently undergoing extensive reconstruction to transform into a major global city, you'll witness the rising Jeddah Tower, which aims to be the tallest building in the world upon completion, exceeding a thousand metres in height.Our journey continues along the Corniche, offering scenic views, beautiful seaside mosques, and leisure areas. The remarkable King Fahd Fountain is another highlight—it holds the title of the world's tallest fountain, propelling water more than 300 metres into the air. We will pause to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the bustling and picturesque fish market before proceeding to a visit to Al Taybat International City. This stunning architectural complex houses intriguing museums dedicated to history and ethnography, where your admission is included.We'll revisit the historic Al-Balad area, entering through Bab Makkah, the most significant gate to the city. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the refined Beit Salloum house, which has been transformed into a museum. Our route will also take us past the Eve Cemetery, traditionally believed to be the burial site of Eve, the wife of Adam and the first woman according to the Bible.For lunch, you'll have free time to explore the variety of culinary options available at a local shopping centre. In the afternoon, we will visit the Al Rahma Mosque, widely known as the "floating mosque" because it is built on the Red Seas' shores atop water-borne pillars. Our day ends with a relaxing visit to the lively marina, located conveniently close to the Formula 1 racetrack.
Day 3 - Jeddah - Medina
On Day 3, after enjoying breakfast, we set off on a journey inland across vast highways that wind through deserts and mountains, leading us to the sacred city of Medina, known as "the luminous city". Arriving around midday, we will pause at a large shopping centre located at the city's entrance, providing you with the opportunity to enjoy lunch at the food court, catering to various tastes. Medina stands as an extraordinary historical destination, revered as one of the two most sacred cities in Islam. The city, which was off-limits to non-Muslims until recently, requires visitors to show respect for its people and traditions, including adhering to appropriate dress codes.Our exploration begins at the remarkable Prophet's Mosque (Al Masjid an Nabawi), an awe-inspiring structure featuring ten minarets with the capacity to welcome a million visitors. This mosque, built by the Prophet himself, is his final resting place. As we wander, we'll visit the UHUD mountain, renowned for its historical significance as the battleground between the Prophet’s forces and the Meccan troops. The vast esplanade and the mountain provide a reflective and serene atmosphere amid the many pilgrims.Moving on, we'll visit the Quba Mosque, the foundation site of the first mosque in history in the year 622, although the current structure is more modern. Continuing our walk, we reach the nearby Ethiq garden and well, historically a place where local tribes greeted and offered water to the Prophet and his companions following their journey from Mecca to Medina.In the heart of Medina, you will have some free time to explore the bustling shopping areas or, should you prefer, visit the Hejaz Railway Museum, housed within the historical Ottoman train station. In the afternoon, our journey includes a visit to the Al Madinah Museum, where you will gain deeper insights into the city's vibrant history. As dusk falls, we return to the majestic Al Masjid mosque, capturing the essence of Medina as we soak in the sight of thousands gathering for prayer and admire the enchanting evening illumination. Dinner is included.
Day 4 - Medina - Buraidah
Following breakfast, we venture east into Saudi Arabia's diverse landscapes, characterised by sparsely populated desert expanses interspersed with vibrant colours. Our destination is Buraidah, the capital of Al-Qassim Province, a lively oasis home to over 600,000 people. Upon arrival, you'll have some free time to enjoy lunch at your leisure.In the afternoon, we will delve into Buraidah's unique character, exploring its economy, which thrives on oasis agriculture, notably dates, lemons, oranges, and wheat. An annual date market in August attracts visitors from far and wide to purchase this cherished fruit. We will visit "the city of dates," which varies in activity depending on the time of year, and you'll have the chance to sample this local delicacy fresh from the palm. Afterwards, we'll stroll through the city's bustling centre, where you can experience the vibrant vegetable market, admire the grand mosque, and browse the sparkling jewellery souks. The evening culminates with an included dinner, offering a perfect end to a day brimming with authentic Arabian experiences.
Day 5 - Buraidah - Riyadh
In the early morning, we'll visit the world's largest camel market in Buraidah, a city notable for its pioneering camel hospital. Our journey then takes us along the historic pilgrimage route once travelled by pilgrims from Iraq to Mecca, marked by a series of historical cities and small oases. We arrive at Ushaiger, a heritage village and a significant stop for pilgrims due to its charming oasis and springs. Here, we explore the village's quaint museum and admire the Najdi-style architecture with its intricately carved wooden doors, decorative windows, and distinctive triangular roofs. A delightful lunch is included.As we move on, the landscape transforms into dune deserts, leading us to Shaqra. This city is experiencing growth alongside its university, but maintains a well-preserved old town with a picturesque ancient market and narrow alleys made of adobe. Our next stop is Al Qasab, historically renowned for its production of salt and wheat, as well as its poets. We'll tour the walled city and view the saline lagoons, where 200,000 tonnes of salt are still produced annually. By evening, we arrive in Riyadh. This lively capital of Saudi Arabia teems with almost eight million inhabitants, offering a vibrant urban experience.
Day 6 - Riyadh
We begin our exploration of Riyadh, the vibrant capital of Saudi Arabia. Activities will vary depending on the time of year. Our first stop is the striking Kingdom Centre, a 300-metre tall tower known for its architectural beauty. We'll ascend to its unique, bridge-shaped observation deck to take in breathtaking views over the city. Next, we visit the National Museum, the largest in Saudi Arabia, surrounded by a lovely park. Here, visitors can delve into the country's rich history, culture, and art. After our museum visit, we explore the historical Masmak Fortress, offering us insights into Riyadh's remarkable transformation over the past century. There's also time to wander the lively neighbourhood with its bustling souks and vibrant commerce. For lunch, you'll have an opportunity to explore a local shopping centre and choose from a variety of dining options. As the day winds down, we visit the awe-inspiring Al Rajhi Mosque, the largest in Riyadh, where we attend a prayer session and gain an introduction to the tenets of Islam.In the evening, we head to Riyadh City Boulevard, a lively hub of activity. Here, you're free to explore the many attractions, dine in one of the numerous restaurants offering cuisines from around the world, and enjoy live shows. The highlight of the evening is the colourful fountain display. After some free time for dinner and a leisurely stroll, we return to the hotel.
Day 7 - Riyadh - Al-Hofuf
This morning, we will explore the outskirts of Riyadh, visiting the Al Turaif district in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic area was once the heart of the first Saudi dynasty, and today its captivating ruins of palaces and urban complexes offer insight into the kingdom’s past. Afterwards, we’ll journey along well-maintained highways towards the Al-Ahsa Oasis, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the world's largest oasis, it's home to nearly 3 million date palms. Upon arriving in Al Hofuf, the oasis’s principal city, we’ll meander through the picturesque Al Qaisariya souq, one of Arabia's oldest markets, which epitomises the region’s rich commercial heritage. In the evening, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through King Abdullah Park, admiring the park's artificial lake and mesmerising fountains choreographed to music. Dinner is included today.
Day 8 - Al-Hofuf - Dammam
After breakfast, we continue to explore Al-Hofuf, starting with a visit to the Ibrahim Palace. This historic fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a distinctive white mosque and was originally built by the Ottomans in 1556. We then head to the "House of Allegiance," providing a glimpse into the traditional architecture of the oasis with its beautiful small palace. Next, we meander through the bustling area around Mehaires Palace, which is vibrant with restaurants, shops, and parks frequented by locals. Our journey then takes us through the lush Al-Ahsa Oasis to Al Qara. This site, renowned for its striking landscape of labyrinths, mini-gorges, and mountain caves, maintains a consistent temperature of around 25 degrees throughout the year. Here, we visit the "Land of Civilizations" museum to delve into the area’s rich history. In the afternoon, we travel towards the Persian Gulf and arrive in the modern city of Dammam, home to nearly a million residents. Before reaching the city, we pause at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture—a cultural marvel designed to resemble a cluster of rocks, offering a plethora of museums, leisure zones, and a library. Once in Dammam, we stop briefly at the Khobar water tower located along the modern promenade. Our final destination for the day is the Heritage Village, a seaside fortress–style complex where we learn about Saudi civilization and explore its intriguing museum of antiques, including a collection of historic automobiles. Dinner is included for the evening.Note: Please be aware that Ibrahim Palace was closed for restoration during the creation of this itinerary. If it remains closed, we will view the palace from the outside.
Day 9 - Dammam - Bahrain
After breakfast, we embark on a journey across the remarkable 25-kilometre-long causeway known as the Friendship Bridge, linking Saudi Arabia to Bahrain. This small island nation, spanning 765 square kilometres and home to just under two million people, has long been significant in the region’s history. Upon our arrival in Manama, Bahrain’s vibrant capital, we begin a guided tour of the country. We delve into the historic district of Muharraq, wandering through its pedestrian alleys to discover beautifully restored royal residences and the opulent homes of former pearl merchants.Our exploration continues around the Manama Corniche, where we will visit Beit Al Quran, a museum dedicated to the Quran, offering insight into the holy text of Islam. We also make our way to the impressive National Museum of Bahrain, where we gain a deeper understanding of the nation's art, ethnography, and rich traditions that have evolved over centuries.Later, enjoy some leisure time at a local mall, where you can savour lunch at the food court, choosing from a delightful array of culinary offerings. In the afternoon, our tour takes us to the magnificent Al-Fateh Mosque, the largest mosque in Bahrain, where you can marvel at its grandeur.Our journey proceeds to Qalat Al Bahrain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we explore the ancient seaside fortress with a history spanning 4,000 years – the current edifice was constructed by the Portuguese. We then venture into one of the world's most prominent oil-producing regions, pausing at the site of Bahrain’s first oil well and visiting the 'Tree of Life', a remarkable desert tree that has thrived for over 500 years, symbolising resilience amidst the arid surroundings.Returning to Manama, enjoy free time to explore at your leisure. As the day concludes, we take a stroll through the bustling Manama souq, immersing ourselves in its vibrant atmosphere before venturing into Little India, a neighbourhood rich in cultural heritage and Indian traditions, home to a charming Krishna temple and numerous inviting restaurants offering authentic Indian cuisine. Please note that the order of activities may vary.
Day 10 - Bahrain - Doha
In the morning, enjoy some free time in Bahrain to explore at your leisure. You might choose to wander through the historical heart of the city or perhaps visit a museum or two to delve deeper into the local culture. In the afternoon, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Doha, the dazzling capital of Qatar. Upon arrival, a transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel, where you can settle in and relax. The rest of the day is yours to discover Doha's vibrant atmosphere.
Day 11 - Doha
Today, we'll embark on a journey to discover the vibrant metropolis of Doha, a city that perfectly blends modernity with tradition. Our city tour begins with a scenic drive along the Corniche, offering splendid views of the city's towering skyscrapers and pristine beaches. We'll pass by the striking Al Thumama Stadium, a prominent venue from the 2022 World Cup, and continue to the National Museum, renowned for its remarkable architecture.Our next stop is the Museum of Islamic Art, which houses the largest collection of Islamic art globally. Here, you'll gain insight into the rich heritage and culture of the Islamic world. We then visit the Falcon Souq, where we'll explore the significance of falconry in Qatari culture, before strolling through the Waqif Souq. This market, rebuilt with a 19th-century flair, offers a glimpse into the historical trading life of the region. Nearby, you'll also see the stables where Arabian horses are kept.For lunch, we'll head to "The Pearl of Qatar," an artificial archipelago. Here, you'll find Porto Arabia and the Qanat, a shopping area inspired by Venice, where you'll have free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Our day concludes in KATARA Cultural Village, which showcases architectural replicas from around the world and offers a variety of dining options, an opera house, and an amphitheatre for your enjoyment.
Day 12 - Doha - Dubai
We will transfer you to the airport for your included flight to Dubai. Upon arrival, you'll be transported to the hotel, where you can enjoy some leisure time. In the evening, we'll step out to witness the dazzling city of Dubai as it comes alive at night. You'll marvel at the Dubai Fountain, where water dances to music and lights—a spectacular show at the base of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world standing at 828 metres. You'll have time to explore and dine at the enormous Dubai Mall, with its myriad of dining options to suit your taste. Afterwards, we'll return to the hotel. Note that your flight from Doha may land at Dubai or a nearby airport such as Sharjah or Abu Dhabi.
Day 13 - Dubai
Our day in Dubai promises to be a remarkable journey through a dynamic city where tradition meets innovation. In the morning, we embark on an exploration of Dubai's iconic landmarks, starting with a visit to the 'Dubai Frame' – the world's largest picture frame offering breathtaking panoramic views. As we continue, we delve into the historic charm of the Bur Dubai Souq and the Spice Souq. Crossing over to Al Fahidi via an Abra, a traditional Emirati boat, we'll wander through this historic district. Here, the Centre for Cultural Understanding welcomes us with its motto 'Open Minds, Open Doors,' providing the chance to delve into the rich culture of the Emirates. Should our group exceed 15, a local expert will guide us through a culinary experience, introducing us to the region's traditional dishes in an authentic setting.Our afternoon is equally captivating, as we pass the striking Jumeirah Mosque and continue on to Dubai's modern marvels, including the distinctive sail-like silhouette of Burj Al Arab. We then journey to Palm Jumeirah, an artificial archipelago designed in the shape of a palm tree, where we take a ride on the state-of-the-art monorail. Our day wraps up with a stroll through the vibrant Marina area, followed by free time to unwind at the lively JBR beach. As we absorb the architectural wonders and cultural richness, Dubai's story unfolds, offering unforgettable memories filled with contrasts and beauty.
Day 14 - Dubai - Abu Dhabi
After enjoying breakfast, we will set off for Abu Dhabi, the capital and primary Emirate of the United Arab Emirates. Our first pause will be at the captivating Ferrari World for a brief glimpse of this vibrant theme park dedicated to the famous racing car brand. We then head to the breathtaking Sheikh Zayed Mosque, renowned as the largest mosque in the Emirates. Its vast space, spanning over 12 hectares, serves as a significant hub for cultural and religious integration. Continuing our journey, we view the distinctive 160-metre-tall Capital Gate, famed for being the most tilted skyscraper in the world. As we travel along the stunning Corniche, we will enjoy panoramic views of Abu Dhabi's skyline. Our exploration includes a visit to the Heritage Village (entry included), offering insights into traditional life in the Emirates with its craft shops and small museums. We'll pause for lunch in the city centre, which is included in the itinerary.In the afternoon, we will explore the grand Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace of the Emirates, celebrated for its exquisite white granite architecture featuring a 37-metre dome and a chandelier comprising 350,000 pieces of glass. Later, we head to the "cultural district," home to various museums, with the remarkable Louvre standing out for its extraordinary architecture and outstanding collection. Here, you can explore a museum of your choice or simply enjoy your surroundings. Nearby, we stop at the Abrahamic Family House to marvel at this unique complex housing a church, a mosque, and a synagogue under one roof.As evening falls, we visit The Founder's Memorial, a tribute to Zayed, the inaugural sultan of the Emirates. The site is particularly notable for The Constellation, with its exquisite night-time illumination.
Day 15 - Abu Dhabi - Al Ain
Today, we head towards the remarkable oasis of Al Ain, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our journey will take us across sweeping sand deserts, and after just over two hours on the road, we will arrive in the city. Our first stop is Qasr Al Muwaiji, a fortress-turned-museum where Sheikh Zayed, the founding president of the Emirates, was born. We then visit the Al Jahili Fort, an outstanding example of adobe architecture renowned worldwide. At the Sheikh Zayed Museum, we will gain insight into what life was like in Al Ain a century ago. Lunch is included as part of our visit. In the afternoon, we will explore the extensive Al Ain Oasis. We’ll enjoy a ride on small electric vehicles to appreciate its lush gardens, expansive palm plantations, and ancient irrigation systems. Later, you have free time to browse the local bazaars or perhaps relax by the hotel pool. Dinner is included after a day full of exploration and discovery.
Day 16 - Al Ain - Fujairah
After breakfast, we will visit the bustling Camel Market, where you can immerse yourself in the lively trade of livestock, with camels taking centre stage alongside sheep, goats, and horses. Our journey continues through scenic mountainous landscapes as we head toward the Gulf of Oman. En route, we make a stop at the Al Hayl Fort, nestled beside a small oasis in a mountain valley. Upon arrival in Fujairah, enjoy some free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Fujairah, the capital of the emirate, located near the border with Oman. Here, we visit the impressive Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the second largest in the UAE with its towering minarets, along with the adobe fort and the Fujairah Museum, providing insight into the city's origins. You'll have time to wander through the city centre. Dinner is included in the evening.
Day 17 - Fujairah - Dubai
Following breakfast, we'll journey along the coast to Al Bidyah, home to the oldest mosque in the UAE. This 15th-century adobe structure stands at the foot of a fortress overlooking the sea, offering a glimpse into the region's past. Our next stop is the charming city of Khor Fakkan, where you'll have free time to relax on the beach. You can take a dip in the warm waters of the Gulf, with changing rooms and showers at your disposal, and enjoy lunch at one of the city's inviting restaurants.We'll then visit the ruins of an old Portuguese castle and take a short walk by the artificial waterfall nearby, providing a refreshing reprieve. Marvel at the grand amphitheatre, which boasts a stunning view of the sea. Our journey continues to the Emirate of Sharjah, celebrated by UNESCO as the "Cultural Capital of the Arab World." Positioned beautifully by the lagoon, Sharjah offers a wealth of cultural experiences. We'll pause at the Al Noor Mosque, renowned for its exquisite Ottoman design, and enjoy a stroll around the area to capture the scenic beauty without venturing onto the green island of Al Noor.Our exploration includes a visit to Sharjah Fort – now a museum about the ruling family – and the Museum of Islamic Civilization, showcasing the rich religion and culture of the Arab world. Before departing Sharjah, you'll have a unique opportunity to experience the "Rain Room," a modern art installation where you can walk through rain without getting wet. We conclude the day's journey with a drive back to Dubai, where we'll arrive around 18:30.
