Spotlight on Seoul
Tradition meets modernity in the capital

The dynamic city of Seoul has it all - UNESCO-listed palaces, traditional village districts, mouth-watering food markets, sleek modern architecture and a thriving pop culture that is demonstrated in the fashion and music you'll encounter wherever you go. As South Korea's main international transit hub, time in Seoul is included on all of our tours to the country so you can discover the best of the old and the new.

Recommended places to visit in South Korea

With a thriving pop culture, century-old temples and palaces, pristine landscapes and delicious cuisine, South Korea has much to keep travellers entertained and with our pick of the country's top spots you can experience this and more:

Seongsan Sunrise Peak

Located on the famous Jeju Island, Seongsan Sunrise Peak is easily accessible, taking less than an hour to hike up to and well worth the effort. Wooden stairs and platforms are in place to facilitate the climb and make it easier to take in the beautiful surroundings during the ascent. From the top visitors get a panoramic view of the island as well as a better look at the volcanic crater set in to the mountain.

Mount Seoraksan National Park

Seeing the sun rise over the majestic snow-capped mountains of the Mount Seoraksan National Park should be on everyone’s bucket list. The peak of the range can be reached either by hiking or by taking a cable car and from there explorers are treated to spectacular views of the park. Several tumbling waterfalls are scattered throughout the park as well as unusually shaped rocks and a wide range of different flora and fauna.

Cheongpung Lake

The Cheongpung Lake is certainly a sight to behold for anyone passing through South Korea hoping to get in touch with nature. Surrounding the lake are a number of mountains including the majestic Mt. Bibong, the peak of which can be reached via monorail. The journey to the top gives visitors a chance to admire the wildlife and vegetation that exists along the mountain, while the peak offers up stunning views of the lake and surrounding area.

Seoul

South Korea’s skyscraper-adorned capital, Seoul, is one of the world's leading megacities. The intensely diverse city combines hectic business and financial centres with more tranquil green areas, enticing a huge variety of different travellers. Every corner of Seoul is laced with a rich history that pervades the art and culture of the entire region as well a startling level of modernity and technology. Not to be missed are the city’s stunning cherry blossoms which come out mid-April.

Jeju Island

The stunning Jeju Island is one of South Korea’s top destinations thanks to its vibrant fields of rapeseed and its magnificent Hallasan volcano. Hikers regularly take to the slopes of the volcano and are rewarded with breathtaking views of the island along with glimpses of its wildlife and crater lake. Adventurous visitors will also enjoy wandering through the cool, damp passages of the Manjang cave, while those in search of relaxation can sun themselves on one of the beautiful beaches.
