Day 1 - Madrid
Arrive at Madrid airport and collect your car. The Spanish capital is a vibrant and elegant city, known for its wide boulevards, expansive parks, lively plazas, and numerous historic churches and palaces. Madrid is also home to the renowned ‘golden triangle’ of art galleries, where some of the world’s most treasured masterpieces are displayed. Settle in for your overnight stay in Madrid.
Day 2 - Madrid - Avila - Segovia
After breakfast, we leave Madrid and travel to Ávila, a city renowned for its remarkably well-preserved medieval walls stretching over 2.5 kilometres, featuring 88 towers and nine gates. Within these ramparts lies a city rich in heritage, where we visit the fortified Gothic cathedral and the Romanesque Basilica of St Vincent. We take a leisurely walk through the historic streets, showcasing Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and admire the elegant Plaza de Santa Teresa. Later, we continue to Segovia, famous for its striking Alcázar, which inspired Disney’s Cinderella castle, and the impressive Roman aqueduct dating back to the first century under Emperor Domitian. We stay overnight in Segovia.
Day 3 - Segovia - Valladolid - Segovia
After breakfast, we leave Segovia and travel to Valladolid, a city in the Castile and León region known for its impressive architecture. Here, we visit the 16th-century Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, a fine example of Renaissance design. You will have time to enjoy lunch at one of Valladolid’s excellent restaurants before returning to Segovia for the night.
Day 4 - Segovia - San Lorenzo De El Escorial - Madrid
After breakfast, we travel to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a charming town renowned for its remarkable Renaissance monument – the monastery of El Escorial, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This vast complex once served as the royal palace of Philip II and features the Hall of Battles, where large frescoes depict key Spanish military victories, an ornate library with frescoed ceilings, and an impressive basilica. After exploring the site, we continue to Madrid and check in at the hotel for the night.
Day 5 - Madrid
After breakfast, we leave Madrid and drive to the airport, where you will return your rental car. From there, you will board your departure flight home, concluding your journey.
