Set off from Madrid and finish back in Madrid on an 11 day Spain discovery – a laid back mix of iconic cities, coast and countryside. In Madrid you’ll tour the classics and step inside the Bernabéu, then roll east via Zaragoza and Poblet to Barcelona’s vibrant waterfront. Trace the Mediterranean to Peñíscola and Valencia – expect to see the City of Arts and Sciences and sample local flavours. Continue through Alicante and Guadix to Granada for the Alhambra and Generalife. Swing by Nerja, Málaga and dramatic Ronda before Seville’s skyline cruise and optional flamenco. Round things off in Córdoba’s Mosque–Cathedral and La Mancha’s windmills.

Day 1 - Madrid
Welcome to Madrid. On arrival at the airport, we arrange your transfer to the hotel. You have free time until the tour begins – please check the information board in hotel reception for the time of the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers.In the evening, we provide a transfer to Plaza Mayor and the La Latina neighbourhood, known for its lively nightlife and tapas bars. You can choose where to dine, with plenty of options including Spanish, Indian, Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Madrid
This morning we take a panoramic tour of central Madrid, passing Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza de Colón and Plaza Mayor. We then head into Retiro Park to see the lake and the Palacio de Cristal. Entrance is included to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium – home of Real Madrid. You’ll have the afternoon free to explore as you wish, and in the evening we’ll provide a transfer back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Madrid - Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
This morning we leave Madrid, travelling across the Castilian plains towards Aragon. We stop in Zaragoza to see the Cathedral–Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar on the River Ebro. We then continue to Poblet Abbey – a Cistercian complex and one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in the world – with entrance included. We arrive in Barcelona in the evening.
Day 4 - Barcelona
In the morning, we take a panoramic tour of Barcelona, a Mediterranean city renowned for Gaudí’s modernist architecture, its lively Ramblas and the legacy of its World Expositions and Olympic Games. We finish at Maremagnum – the waterfront leisure and dining complex by the sea next to Columbus Square – where you can take a stroll along the harbourfront. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore as you wish. We return to the hotel at the end of the day.
Day 5 - Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia
We travel south along the Mediterranean coast, pausing in Peniscola, a medieval walled town edged by sandy beaches – you’ll have time for a relaxed stroll. We continue to Valencia, arriving around lunchtime. In the afternoon, we join a guided tour with a local expert to get to know this port city on the Levantine coast – over 2,000 years of history reflected in monuments from different eras, contrasted with the modern architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore at your own pace. A traditional local dinner is included.
Day 6 - Valencia - Alicante - Guadix - Granada
We continue south through the Valencian Community to Alicante – a Mediterranean city of golden sands and a characterful old quarter, crowned by Santa Bárbara Castle. You’ll have free time to wander the historic streets at your own pace. We then travel across the arid landscapes of Murcia, stopping en route for lunch. Crossing into Andalusia, we pause in Guadix, known for its inhabited cave houses and Renaissance cathedral, with views towards the Sierra Nevada. We finish the day in Granada, arriving in the late afternoon – dinner included.
Day 7 - Granada
We spend a full day in Granada. If your tour includes tickets, we visit the Alhambra Palace and its Generalife Gardens – landmark masterpieces from the city’s Moorish era. In the afternoon, you have free time to explore at your own pace; you can visit the cathedral, which houses the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs.Important note – entry to the Alhambra is strictly regulated. To secure admission, tickets are issued once your tour is confirmed and require accurate personal details at booking – full name and passport/ID number. Ticket costs are non-refundable if you cancel. In the rare event that the Alhambra visit is not possible, we will instead tour the Royal Alcázar of Seville, which offers comparable historical and architectural interest.
Day 8 - Granada - Nerja - Malaga - Ronda - Seville
We leave Granada, taking in spectacular Sierra Nevada scenery, then follow the Mediterranean along the Tropical Coast – known for its mild microclimate that supports guavas, mangoes and avocados and, in the past, sugar cane. We stop in Nerja, a seaside town edged by impressive cliffs, before continuing to Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol with a lively historic centre. Here you have time for lunch and a stroll. In the afternoon we head inland through the Andalusian sierras to Ronda, a white town famed for the dramatic gorge that divides it. We then continue to Seville, arriving in the late afternoon – dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 9 - Seville
This morning we’ll set out on a guided tour of Seville, taking in the cathedral with its Giralda, the banks of the Guadalquivir, and the Santa Cruz and Triana neighbourhoods. Afterwards, we include a leisurely boat ride on the Guadalquivir – a chance to enjoy panoramic views of the city. In the evening, you can choose to attend a flamenco tablao.
Day 10 - Seville - Cordoba - Consuegra - Madrid
We leave Seville and follow the Guadalquivir Valley to Córdoba – once the capital of the Caliphate of Córdoba. With a local guide, we visit the magnificent Mosque–Cathedral – tickets included – and explore the Jewish Quarter, known for its narrow streets and flower filled patios. You’ll have time for lunch before we continue into Castile. In Consuegra, we stop to admire the 12 traditional windmills beside the castle that overlook the La Mancha plain – we visit the Rucio Mill – then carry on to Madrid by the end of the day.
Day 11 - Madrid
After breakfast, we conclude our journey in Madrid – our services end here. We hope you leave with lasting memories.
