Rainforest & Guarani Heritage Experience
New
Kick off in Puerto Iguazú and finish back there on this 2–day escape through Misiones. Day one takes you to the mighty Iguazú Falls – boardwalks, jungle viewpoints and rainbows in the spray – with time to spot toucans and coatis. On day two you’ll explore the UNESCO–listed San Ignacio Miní Jesuit ruins, pause by the cascades near Jardín América, and delve into the Wanda gemstone mines to see amethyst and agate formed in ancient basalt. Expect red–earth roads, subtropical forest and friendly local flavours – think yerba mate and artisan markets. A short, varied trip that blends nature, history and local craft.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Puerto Iguazu
We depart the hotel around 08:00 for the Comunidad Guaraní Yasy Porã, where members of the Mbya Guaraní welcome us and introduce their worldview, traditions and daily life in the Misiones rainforest. We join an interpretative guided walk through the village to learn about their language, social organisation, use of medicinal plants and close relationship with nature, and we see handcrafted pieces made from natural forest materials.
Afterwards, we transfer to a local restaurant for a regional lunch featuring Misiones flavours such as cassava, freshwater fish and local meats.
In the afternoon, we continue to the Güirá Oga Wildlife Rescue Centre for a guided visit focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction of native species affected by trafficking or accidents – an instructive look at efforts to conserve the Atlantic Forest’s biodiversity.
We round off the day with an interactive mate experience, learning about its origins, the yerba mate plant and the customs of preparing and sharing it, before making our own to enjoy together. Overnight in Iguazu.
Day 2 - Puerto Iguazu
We depart the hotel around 08:00 to delve into Misiones’ cultural, historical and productive roots – connecting the Jesuit–Guaraní legacy, the importance of yerba mate, the province’s distinctive scenery and the natural resources of the north. The day is well paced, with interpretive stops and easy activities suitable for all travellers.
We begin at the UNESCO-listed San Ignacio Miní ruins to understand how the Jesuit reductions were organised and the relationship between the Guaraní communities and the missionaries – a clear window onto the region’s past. We then continue to a traditional yerba mate plantation to follow the process from harvest to drying and learn why this infusion is central to daily life and local identity, finishing with a tasting. We pause in Jardín América for a relaxed lunch before travelling on. In the afternoon, we visit the Wanda Mines to explore the mining area, learn about the geological formation of the region’s semi-precious stones, and observe amethyst, agate and quartz characteristic of northern Misiones.
