Itinerary
Day 1 - Ushuaia
We’ll meet you on arrival at Ushuaia International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After check in, the rest of the day is at leisure – you can unwind and start to take in the setting of the world’s southernmost city, framed by the Andes and the Beagle Channel. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 2 - Ushuaia
After breakfast at the hotel, we set out on a guided tour of Ushuaia – the world’s southernmost city – combining landmark sights with sweeping viewpoints. We take in Mirador Las Hayas and Ushuaia Bay, explore the Anglican Mission neighbourhood and Bahía Encerrada, and stroll along lively Avenida San Martín with its shops and cafés. We also see Nuestra Señora de la Merced Church and pass the End of the World Museum and the Maritime Museum – housed in the former prison – before continuing to Martial Glacier for panoramic views over the city and the Beagle Channel. Museum entrance fees are not included – if you’d like to visit, you will pay locally and we will drop you at the museums at the end of the excursion. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 3 - Ushuaia
After breakfast, we set out on a half–day excursion to Tierra del Fuego National Park – Argentina’s southernmost protected area and the only one that blends coastal and mountain scenery. Travelling along National Route 3 for around 11 km south–west of Ushuaia, we pause at Río Pipo, Monte Susana, Lago Acigami, the Alakush Visitor Centre, Laguna Verde and Bahía Lapataia – the symbolic end of the Pan–American Highway. There’s time for photo stops and, weather permitting, short walks to appreciate the mix of mountains, rivers, valleys and lakes reaching towards the Beagle Channel. The sub–Antarctic forest supports wildlife year–round, so keep an eye out for the Fuegian red fox and birds such as the cachańa, giant woodpecker, rayadito, Patagonian thrush and cauquén caranca. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 4 - Ushuaia
After breakfast, we set out on an express trek to Laguna Esmeralda. The route is around 10 km return and rated low difficulty – mostly gentle slopes with a few slightly steeper sections – ideal for beginners or anyone seeking a relaxed mountain walk. Led by our professional mountain guides, we follow forest trails and open viewpoints while learning about the area’s flora, fauna and geology. Before departure, we provide the necessary winter equipment – crampons and trekking poles are supplied when required – to ensure secure footing on snow or ice. At the lagoon, we pause for a packed lunch – a sandwich and a snack – on the shore and take in panoramic views of the frozen lagoon and surrounding peaks. Weather and trail conditions in Tierra del Fuego can change quickly, so you should dress in layers and bring waterproof outerwear and sturdy boots. Our guides will adapt the route and safety measures as needed. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 5 - Ushuaia - Puerto Almanza
After breakfast, we leave Ushuaia and follow National Route 3 north east along a winding scenic road framed by the Andes and lenga forests. We make a first stop at a winter centre, then continue to Chacra Ruca Kelleñ – a peaceful rural spot showcasing Tierra del Fuego’s landscapes. Travelling on along Provincial Route J, we reach Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village known for mussel farming and king crab. The settlement grew for geopolitical reasons during the 1978 dispute with Chile over the Picton, Lennox and Nueva Islands – it faces Puerto Williams, the world’s southernmost town.
In Puerto Almanza, you can choose between two optional activities: take a semi rigid boat to Isla Martillo – home to Magellanic and Gentoo penguins – for a navigation of about 1 hour 30 minutes, subject to weather and operational conditions, or enjoy a guided walk along the Beagle Channel coast to discover local life at an easy pace. After your chosen activity, we sit down to a seafood lunch prepared by local fishermen featuring the catch of the day, then return to Ushuaia in the late afternoon. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 6 - Ushuaia
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. At the scheduled time, we’ll provide a private transfer from your hotel to Malvinas Argentinas International Airport for your departure flight – leaving you with lasting memories of Ushuaia’s landscapes and natural wonders.
