Day 1 - Cairo
We meet and assist on arrival at Cairo International Airport, guiding you through visa formalities and luggage collection, then drive you comfortably to your city hotel. As we travel through Cairo’s lively streets, you gain a first glimpse of the capital’s bustle and charm. You then have time at leisure to unwind, wander the neighbourhood, or settle into a local café and absorb the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Day 2 - Giza - Cairo - Aswan
We stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza – the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World – and learn about their creation and the pharaohs who commissioned them. We continue to the enigmatic Sphinx, its lion’s body and human face guarding the plateau. We pause to sample koshary – Egypt’s beloved national dish – for an authentic taste of daily life. We then explore the Egyptian Museum, home to a world–class collection of ancient artefacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. In the evening we board the overnight seater train from Ramses Station to Aswan and settle in as the Nile Valley slides by after dark.
Day 3 - Aswan
We arrive in serene Aswan, where the Nile widens and the pace softens. We sail to the Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis – a graceful island sanctuary of fine reliefs and calm waters. We then follow the river by boat to a traditional Nubian village and stay in a Nubian–style guesthouse. We wander among brightly painted mud–brick homes, meet welcoming locals and experience warm Nubian hospitality.
Day 4 - Aswan
We board a traditional felucca and drift downstream, taking in palm–lined banks and timeless Nubian scenery. As night falls, we sleep aboard under a canopy of stars – an unhurried river journey that captures the spirit of the Nile.
Day 5 - Edfu - Luxor - Aswan
We wake to the Nile’s gentle breeze and enjoy a tranquil morning sail on the felucca. We then visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu – among the best preserved in Egypt – where soaring columns and crisp hieroglyphs showcase Ptolemaic artistry. We continue along the Nile Valley towards Luxor, passing fertile fields, quiet riverside villages and glimpses of ancient sites.
Day 6 - Luxor - Cairo
We enter the Valley of the Kings to admire exquisitely decorated tombs of Egypt’s pharaohs, including Tutankhamun. We explore Deir el–Medina, the village of artisans who created these masterpieces, revealing details of everyday life. We admire the elegant terraces of Queen Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple beneath towering cliffs, then pause at the colossal statues of Amenhotep III – the Colossi of Memnon. In the afternoon we make an unhurried visit to Karnak – a vast complex dedicated to Amun–Ra – with its forest of columns, sacred lake and intricate reliefs. In the evening we board the overnight seater train from Luxor to Cairo, with dinner and breakfast served on board as we travel north.
Day 7 - Cairo
